Special Tier = Requires a specific setup to work (Note that “Not Special” doesn’t mean never click, it just means it’s worse than the other special tiers)

Note that Items don’t really matter that much, so don’t grief your game to get specific items unless I mention a specific item is required.

Try out different types of positioning and champions in these TFT builds too! There is a ton of variation in TFT so be sure to check out the Core units in the tierlist and then flex the rest of your team!

Conditions:

  • Sylas Unlock
  • Lots of money
    • Prefer Yordle start
  • Item Augments

How to Play: Data Explorer

  • Unlockables: Sylas, Shurimans
    • Sylas: Sell 2 Star Garen and be level 9. This does not all have to be done in one turn but it is quite difficult to do if you do not have enough econ.
    • Shurimans: Renekton is a great duo carry, Nasus is a great tank, and Xerath is the highest possible cap.
  • Gameplan: This comp will require multiple source of econ, from either augments or traits. Many high level players pivot into this board from a 6/8 Yordle early-mid game. This board can win lobbies but it is hard to get to reliably.
    • Stage 1-2: Play strongest board or hold Yordle units and try to play around 4 Yordles + Arcanist. Setting up a way to guarantee 6 yordle on stage 3 is very good.
    • Stage 3: Try to slot in 6 yordle early in stage 3 to start farming rolls if possible. Otherwise play strongest board to save HP.
    • Stage 4: If you are healthy and played into the Yordle opener, playing 8 yordle for value throughout stage 4 is very good but not strong. If you are low HP rolldown on 4-2 and hope to find an Annie and a frontline. The comp is very hard to play when missing either of those pieces as Tibbers is your main tank and Annie does a lot of damage.
    • Stage 5+: Go level 9 as soon as possible for Sylas 2 and Annie 2. Prioritize 2 mana on Annie, Tank items on Tibbers and defensive items on Sylas.
  • Tips:
    • This comp is best played from a tempo Yordles opener. Having access to extra rolls from 6 Yordle and gold from 8 Yordle makes it easier to find Garen 2 to sell him.
    • If you can’t go level 9 with this comp, pivoting is a good option. Playing this comp without Annie is very difficult as she is both your frontline and back line.
    • Annie’s main goal is to get her first cast off, she needs at a minimum 2 mana items. Damage items are too slow on her. Tibbers is incredibly tanky and worth itemizing.

Item Holder: Teemo, Ahri, Leblanc

Items:

  • Annie: Blue Buff, Adaptive Helm, Void Staff
    • 2 or 3 mana items are preferred.
  • Tibbers: Generic tank
  • Sylas: Edge of Night, Jeweled Gauntlet, Hand of Justice
    • Healing/defensive items are a priority
  • Swain: Protector’s Vow, Generic tank
  • Azir: Leftover AP

Augments:

  • BIS: Jeweled Lotus

Conditions:

  • Winstreak AP opener is prefered
  • Lots of econ
  • Ability to go 9
  • Early Sion is preferred

How to Play: Data Explorer

  • Unlockables: Leblanc, Mel, Shurimans, Sylas (optional)
    • Leblanc: Field 2 item Sion. Leblanc is the best early game AP holder and is easy to unlock if you find Sion.
    • Mel: Have 1 item Ambessa die in combat. Complete this as soon as possible as Mel 1 is decently strong.
    • Shurimans: An early Azir is game winning. Xerath is the highest cap. Nasus is a great tank. Renekton is good if you have excess AD items.
    • Sylas: Sell 2 star Garen at level 9. Sylas is the highest cap and should be played for if your goal is to go level 9.
  • Gameplan: Only look to play this comp if you can fast 9. The easiest way is from a Noxus opener as 5 and 7 Noxus are strong in the early mid game.
    • Stage 1-2: Complete Leblanc’s Unlock on 1-4 if possible. Play around Leblanc and 3 Noxus ideally, if not any AP backline will do. Try to save HP.
    • Stage 3: Continue to add Noxus units as you level and play strong, if your spot doesn’t look like it can go fast 9 look to pivot away from this line.
    • Stage 4: Roll on 4-2 for 1 Ambessa. Mel 1 is good at killing units on stage 4 if you have an ok frontline. 7 Noxus is a cheap and easy way to be stable. If you find an Azir play for multiple Shurimans if possible.
    • Stage 5+: Look to go level 9 for Mel 2 and upgrades. The version above is highest cap but there are many legendaries that can be flexed in such as Lucian & Senna, Kindred, Xerath and Zilean.
  • Tips:
    • 5/7 Noxus can serve as a pseudo frontline while you stabilize at level 9. Ideally the only 3 Noxians you play are Mel, Swain and Ambessa.
    • It is essential to have enough money to roll for Ambessa 1 plus a few upgrades at 4-2 and still be able to go level 9.
    • There are a lot of units you can stabilize around at level 9. The hard part is putting together a front line. Taric and Skarner are great units to flex in here.
    • Mel needs a duo carry, Xerath is the best one but almost any other AP 5 cost or Seraphine can carry along side her.
    • Sylas is the highest capping unit you can play for and should be chased with this set up.

Item Holder: Leblanc, Zoe, Anivia
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Invoker Mel

Items:

  • Mel: Void Staff, Blue Buff, Jeweled Gauntlet
    • Double mana, AP
  • Nasus/Taric/Skarner: Generic Tank
  • Swain: Protector’s Vow
  • Azir/Xerath/Sylas/Fiddlesticks: Leftover AP

Augments:

TFT Comps Set 16 - Tier List & Meta Snapshot Patch 16.8

Round2-32-73-23-5 (40g+)4-15-5
Level456789

Mixed Streak

Round2-1 or 2-32-5 or 3-13-23-5 or 4-14-25-5 or 6-1
Level456789

Conditions:

  • Freljord Spat is preferred and greatly improves this comp
  • 2 sets of AP items

How to Play:

  • Unlockables: Kobuko, Volibear
    • Volibear: Field a unit with 3400 or more HP at level 8. A turn with 4 bruisers in is a great way to complete this.
    • Kobuko: Field 6 Star levels in Bruisers, Yordles or Invokers at level 6.
  • Gameplan: Play this primarily from Freljord Spat. Since Ornn is now a Freljord it is incredibly easy to play around 7 Freljord which is very over stated. Being able to go 9 for Zilean, 2 Volibear 2 and Ornn is the key to success with this comp.
    • Stage 1-2: Play around a strong AP Opener. Consider unlocking LeBlanc or Orianna to accomplish this. The goal is to get to 9.
    • Stage 3: Continue to play strongest board and continue a win streak. If you are weak considering rolling a few times on 3-5 at level 7 for a 2 cost or 3 cost backline upgrade such as Ori, LeBlanc or Milio.
    • Stage 4: Level to 8 on 4-2 and roll a bit to stabilize if you are not healthy enough to go fast 9. Lissandra 2, Braum 2 and Voli 1 should be enough to stabilize most of the time. If you find Ornn or Zilean you are likely to top 3 as they scale very hard.
    • Stage 5+: Level to 9 as soon as possible and upgrade your 5 cost.
  • Tips:
    • This comp massively improves by having Freljord spat, this makes any Emblem or Spatula generating augment very strong.
    • Other strong +1s can include Bruiser, Warden, Defender and Piltover.
    • If you can’t reach 9 with this comp don’t expect to top 4.

Item Holder: Anivia, Sona, LeBlanc, Orianna
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Warden Taric, Freljord Taric

Items:

  • Lissandra: Jeweled Gauntlet, 2x Nashor’s
    • Striker’s Flail, Archangel’s, Deathcap
  • Zilean: Void Staff, Red Buff/Morello, Blue Buff
    • Jeweled Gauntlet, Deathcap
  • Volibear: Titan’s, Sterak’s, Bloodthirster
    • Very flexible itemization, not at all BIS dependent
  • Braum: Generic Tank

Augments:

  • BIS: Spreading Roots, Branching Out, Trait Tree, Urf’s Gambit
  • General: Trait > Item > Econ > Combat

Conditions:

  • Many Variants depending on your spot
  • Galio Unlock is preferred

How to Play:

  • Unlockables: Ryze, Galio, Kobuko, Kennen, Sett, Volibear, Ziggs, Shurimans
    • Ryze: Play 3 region traits at level 9.
    • Galio: Field 8 star levels of Demacia at level 8.
    • Kobuko: Field 6 Star levels in Bruisers, Yordles or Invokers at level 6.
    • Kennen: Field 5 Star levels in Ionians, Yordles or Defenders at level 5.
    • Sett: Field only 1 unit in the front 2 rows of your board for a turn at level 8.
    • Volibear: Field a unit with 3400 or more HP at level 8. A turn with 4 bruisers in is a great way to complete this.
    • Ziggs: Field a Zaunite or Yordle with 2 items at level 9. If you can complete this on 4-7 as to not lose a life itemizing a Yordle or Zaunite on 5-1, do so.
    • Shurimans: Renekton is a great duo carry, Nasus is a great tank, and Xerath is the highest possible cap.
  • Gameplan: Play your strongest Demacia or AP opener and set up for a fast 9. Play your strongest board while adding unlockable units to maintain tempo. Ryze is very accessible if you are able to get to level 9 so this can be played from many angles. Almost every good Ryze board will play around the convenient combination of Kobuko and Kennen. One or the other will be required for most boards.
    • Stage 1-2: Look to be strong around your best AP opener. Play econ generating Ionia paths if possible.
    • Stage 3: Keep tempo by unlocking Kennen and Kobuko when possible and aggressively holding Demacian star levels for Galio’s unlock.
    • Stage 4: Be strong by unlocking Volibear, Sett and Galio. Slight roll if needed to complete these, otherwise econ up to get to level 9.
    • Stage 5+: Go 9 as soon as possible for your first copy of Ryze. If you are able to complete all of the unlocks the board should come together easily. If you struggled to complete the Demacia and Ionia unit unlocks consider playing Shurimans. Taric or Skarner in their place.
  • Tips:
    • Demacia opener is the most convenient opener for this comp due to Galio acting as a +1 opening up our traits.
    • Econ Ionia Paths accelerate your ability to go 9 so consider this line if you drop an Ahri early on.
    • There are multiple ways to cap around Ryze, the Demacia Ionia route is convenient due to unlocks guaranteeing most of the board.
    • Shurima Ryze is the best Ryze buff as it CCs and potentially drops loot.
    • If you have Lifting Competition the Bruiser variant is a great line to play.

Item Holder: Ahri, Sona
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Invoker Ryze, Disruptor Ryze

Items:

  • Ryze: Nashor’s, Jeweled Gauntlet, Void Staff
    • Morello, Red Buff, Rabadon’s, Blue Buff

Round2-1 or 2-32-5 or 3-13-23-5 or 4-14-25-5 or 6-1
Level456789

Conditions:

  • Winstreak AD Opener
  • Ability to reach level 9 with enough HP and Econ

How to Play:

  • Unlockables: There are no required unlocks for this comp. Skarner is good but optional.
  • Gameplan: Play around a strong AD opener, reach level 9 and play around high quality units. Senna & Lucian and Kindred are incredible carries so prioritize itemization for them. This comp works great from an Ixtal cash out.
    • Stage 1-2: Hold pairs and look to level aggressively for upgraded units. Item augments that lead to win streaks are preferred.
    • Stage 3: This comp is very expensive so taking econ 3-2 is recommended. Otherwise take something to keep up the tempo and save HP. This comp needs to reach level 9 to find success.
      • For Draven Fast 9, roll for Draven 2* on level 7 stage 3-5 and put items on him to farm gold
    • Stage 4: Take whatever augment helps you reach level 9 or gives you combat strength for stage 4. Most of the time you will have to sac HP this stage.
    • Stage 5+: Level to 9 at the latest 5-2 and look for 5 costs and high quality units. Almost every 5 cost is playable but if you are low in HP, the value generating ones will be more risky to field.
  • Tips:
    • This is a comp you should attempt to pivot out of if you do not think you will safely make it to level 9. Choose to play around a 4 cost AD carry like Yunara or MF if need be. They are much weaker but will salvage placements.
    • This comp is insane from Ixtal.
    • The piltover units are droppable if the module is bad.
    • Almost any AD items are fine on backline. Kindred prefers auto attack based items such as Guinsoo’s and Kraken. Lucian & Senna prefer caster items such as Shojin and IE.

Item Holder: Draven, Jhin
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Quickstriker Lucian & Senna

  • Kindred: Guinsoo’s, DB, Kraken
  • Lucian & Senna: Shojin/Mana Gen, IE LW

Conditions:

  • Transcendence or Spirit Ionia Path
  • Lots of items
  • Ahri Orb is preferred

How to Play:

  • Unlockables: Yone, Kennen, Sett, Bard (optional)
    • Yone: Field 2 star Yasuo with 3 items at Level 7. If you have a source of free rolls, looking for Yasuo 2 on stage 3 and then leveling is very worth it.
    • Kennen: Field 5 Star levels in Ionians, Yordles or Defenders at level 5.
    • Sett: Field only 1 unit in the front 2 rows of your board for a turn at level 8. This is very simple to complete and should be done immediately when you hit 8.
    • Bard: Reroll 3 times before stage 2 carousel. If you are loss streaking into this line Bardโ€™s econ can help you stabilize on stage 3.
  • Gameplan: Play this when you are in Transcendence or Spirit Paths and have a lot of items. Consider this heavily if you drop an Ahri and have a slam for her. The main strength of this comp is it comes online very quickly with Ahri 2 and Yone 1 being quite strong in the mid game.
    • Stage 1-2: Play your strongest Ionia opener and slam Ahri or Yone items. If it is hard to be strong roll for Bard and loss streak.
    • Stage 3: Continue to level for Ionians and Neeko. If you are loss streaking look to level on 3-5 and stabilize using Bard rolls to unlock Yone and find Ahri 2.
    • Stage 4: Roll aggressively to play a fully upgraded board, then slow roll for Ahri 3 and Kennen 3. It is important to be strong in stage 4 and beat the people greeding for level 9.
    • Stage 5+: Level to 8 for Yone 2 and Sett. Play 7 Ionia as soon as possible. Max cap is dropping Neeko for Sylas at 9 but it is rare that you get there as this is a top 4 comp.
  • Tips:
    • This is a great comp to angle from a loss streak as it is easy to be stable on Yone 1 and Ahri 2 on 3-5.
    • Item augments are great as Yone is an excellent duo carry to Ahri and having 3 tank items is also very important.
    • Yasuo 3 is a consideration if you are high rolling copies and have excess items such as a TG.
    • If you high roll copies this comp can be played in other Ionia Paths but generally speaking prioritize this in Spirits or Transcendence paths.

Item Holder: Ahri, Yasuo, Jhin
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Ionia Volibear or any legendary

Items:

  • Ahri: 2x Nashor’s, Jeweled Gauntlet

Conditions:

  • Enough items for Leona, Malzahar and Zoe
  • Econ to 3 star everything

How to Play:

  • Unlockables: Bard (Optional)
    • Bard: Reroll 3 times before stage 2 carousel. If you are loss streaking into this line Bardโ€™s econ can help you stabilize on stage 3.
  • Gameplan: This comp is generally played from loss streak and aims to spike hard on level 7 at 3-5. Roll for Bard on 2-3 to generate free rolls. Prioritize 3 item Malzahar then 3 item Leona. If you have a Zoe drop and a slam you can look to play tempo but a Fast 9 line could be a better option if you are winstreaking.
    • Stage 1-2: Look to loss streak for BIS Malzahar items. Roll for Bard on 2-3.
    • Stage 3: Roll aggressively on 3-5 to stabilize. From here on out you should aim to play your strongest board every turn and convert the econ from your loss streak into strength.
    • Stage 4: Slow roll for your 3 stars and continue to be strong. You might to lose to people who all inned on level 8 but should never lose to someone going fast 9.
    • Stage 5+: At this point you should have Leona 3 and at least one of your AP carries. If you are unable to hit both look to level and secondary carry Seraphine 2.
  • Tips:
    • Malzahar wants 2 mana items to ramp up his voidlings.
    • Zoe’s itemization is much more flexible than Malzahar’s so prioritize her second.
    • Leona wants as many raw stats as possible to synergize with her damage reduction passive. Prioritize items that give a lot of armor and mr and effective HP. Gargolyes is her best item, followed by Spirit Visage. Solo Plate is a great augment to play this line from.

Item Holder: Zoe, Malzahar, Bard
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Disruptor Zoe

Items:

  • Malzahar: Dawncore*, 2x Nashor’s, Jeweled Gauntlet

Conditions:

  • Early Sion
  • BIS Darius

How to Play:

  • Unlockables: LeBlanc, Darius, Kobuko, Mel
    • LeBlanc: Field a Sion with 2 items. If you have an early Sion with an AP slam, heavily consider this line.
    • Darius: Field Draven with 1 item at level 5. This can be used to cheat out 5 Noxus and should be heavily prioritized.
    • Mel: Ambessa with 1 item dies in combat at level 8. This happens once you go level 8.
    • Kobuko: Field 6 Star levels in Bruisers, Yordles or Invokers at level 6.
  • Gameplan: Play a strong Noxus opener around LeBlanc and AP items. Play 5 Noxus as soon as you can to have a strong mid game. This comp caps very high if you are able to find BIS Darius.
    • Stage 1-2: Play around LeBlanc, Sion and 3 Noxus. It should be easy to be strong around this core. Add Bruiser and Invokers as you find them.
    • Stage 3: If you are loss streaking into this line, which is not recommended, roll very aggressively on 3-5. Otherwise continue to play your strongest board while holding Noxians. Look to roll for 5 Noxus, Kobuko and Neeko as your level 7 board.
    • Stage 4: Slow roll for LeBlanc 3 and Darius 3. You might to lose to people who all inned on level 8 but should never lose to someone going fast 9.
    • Stage 5+: Finish your 3 Star upgrades then go level 8 to play 7 Noxus. Attakan will be huge at this point with your 2 3 stars and acts as a tertiary carry.
  • Tips:
    • Darius needs Titan’s to go infinite, prioritize this heavily. Adaptive is great as he is a tank meaning he gets mana for taking damage. Sterak’s can be substituted with something else like Spirit’s Visage but the shield can help him heal back up if he gets bursted at the start of a fight.
    • Noxus Emblem lets you play 6 Noxus + Kobuko at level 7 and is a great enabler for this comp.
    • Invoker Mel is a great way to cap out.
    • Do not chase Draven 3 unless you can realistically itemize him.
    • Bringer of Ruin is a great wincon for this comp.

Item Holder: LeBlanc, Sion
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Noxus Kobuko, Invoker Mel

Round2-1 or 2-32-5 or 3-13-23-5 or 4-14-25-5 or 6-1
Level456789

Conditions:

  • Lots of econ to hit Jinx 3 and a 3 cost Tank
  • Items for Jinx, Warwick and Tank
  • Emblem Augments can make this comp S tier

How to Play:

  • Unlockables: Singed, Warwick, Bard (Optional)
    • Warwick: Field a Jinx and Vi holding an item at level 7. It is very common to level to 7 on 3-5 and roll for 1 Jinx and 1 Vi to unlock Warwick on 3-6.
    • Singed: Lose 35 Player Health and field 4 unique Zaunites or Juggernauts. This happens naturally as you play the game. This is a loss streak line so it is quite realistic to have Singed on Stage 3.
    • Bard: Roll 3 times before stage 2 carousel. This is best done by having an econ augment that provides rolls.
  • Gameplan: Loss streak while collecting BIS Jinx items and then spike hard on 3-5 with Warwick’s unlock. If you are committed to losing, roll for Bard. Roll for Jinx 3 and your 3 star tank on level 8.
    • Stage 1-2: If you can winstreak around a Jinx Orb do so, otherwise loss streak and look for Jinx BIS. Rageblade is priority number 1.
    • Stage 3: Level to 7 on 3-5 and look to unlock Warwick and field 5 Zaun. Your first copy of Warwick will stabilize you till 4-2 stopping a lot of the bleeding.
    • Stage 4: Look to 4-2 it for Warwick 2 while holding copies of Jinx. Jinx 3 is the highest cap for this comp unless you are able to go 9 for multiple 2 star 5 costs.
    • Stage 5+: Continue to roll for Jinx 3 and potentially a 3 star tank. Once you hit Jinx you can consider leveling to 9 if you are too far from your tank.
  • Tips:
    • MF replaces Senna until you reach her, 2 Gunslinger is a core synergy.
    • This comp still wants to reroll for 3 stars but at level 8. Finding Warwick 2 on stage 4 is very important for stability and any random legendary you might find on 8 is likely playable.
    • If you play this comp from a win streak position you can consider going level 9 and playing for legendaries. The Zaun version wants Kindred, Senna and Shyvana while Freljord can cap with Ryze.
    • Emblem augments are very strong in this comp and should be prioritized.

Item Holder: Jinx, Vi, Qiyana, Briar
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Gunslinger Warwick, Gunslinger Jinx, Zaun Spat any legendary

Items:

  • Kindred: Rageblade*, Kraken Slayer, Deathblade,
  • Warwick: Titanic Hydra*, Prowlerโ€™s Claw*, Titanโ€™s Resolve

Conditions:

  • Lots of items
  • XP, Spirits or Blades Ionia Paths
  • Artifacts bump this up a tier

How to Play:

  • Unlockables: Yone, Sett, Bard (optional)
    • Yone: Field 2 star Yasuo with 3 items at Level 7. If you have a source of free rolls, looking for Yasuo 2 on stage 3 and then leveling is very worth it.
    • Sett: Field only 1 unit in the front 2 rows of your board for a turn at level 8. This is very simple to complete and should be done immediately when you hit 8.
    • Bard: Reroll 3 times before stage 2 carousel. If you are loss streaking into this line Bard’s econ can help you stabilize on stage 3.
  • Gameplan: Play your strongest Ionia or Slayer opener while slamming items Yone items. If you are able to unlock Yone early on in stage 3 it is worth it to level to 7 aggressively. This comp can carry many units
    • Stage 1-2: Play your strongest opener with Yone items slammed or loss streak with Bard. If you are loss streaking roll for Bard on 2-3.
    • Stage 3: If you have Yasuo 2 don’t be afraid to level to 7 for your first copy of Yone. If you are able to unlock Yone on stage 3 you are likely in a good spot as Yone 1 is stable at this point.
    • Stage 4: Level to 8 for Sett and Yone 2. If you find legendaries play those, otherwise 7 Ionia + Neeko with Yasuo as your Slayer is an easy way to be stable.
    • Stage 5+: Go 9 for Sylas whenever possible. It is not advisable to drop Neeko unless you can replace her directly with Sylas. The last slot at 9 can be anything, Senna is good utility. Dropping out of 7 Ionia is often too expensive but can be done once you 2 star multiple 5 cost. The money is often better spent securing Sett 2 and Sylas 2.
  • Tips:
  • This comp is similar to Yunara in the sense that it wants to stabilize quickly on 8 and then go to 9 for 5 costs.
  • Yone does a good mix of magic and physical damage so having both Shred and Sunder is prefered.
  • Titan’s is Yone’s best item and should be heavily prioritized. He utilizes both stats very efficiently and needs the CC immunity.

Item Holder: Qiyana, Briar, Yasuo, Jhin
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Ionia Kindred, Sylas, any 5+ cost

Items:

  • Yone: Zhonya’s Paradox*, Mittens*, Titan’s*, Rageblade, Bloodthirster
    • Gold Collector, Death’s Defiance, QSS, Hand of Justice, 2x Titan’s
  • Wukong: Ionic Spark, Generic Tank
  • Sett: Jeweled Gauntlet, Healing, leftover AP

Level456789

Conditions:

  • Early 5 Bilgewater
  • Econ Augments
  • Strong Early Game Tempo to farm Silver Serpents

How to Play:

  • Unlockables: Tahm Kench, Fizz, Optional: Ryze, Volibear
    • Tahm Kench: Spend 350 Silver Serpents and be level 8. This will happen naturally as you play this comp. Prioritize silver serpent generation above all else.
    • Fizz: Field 5 unique Bilgewaters or Yordles. Will happen naturally as you play the comp. Don’t be afraid to level to 7 early and add a Yordle +4 Bilgewater to cheat out 5 Bilge in stage 3.
    • Ryze, Volibear: These are all 5 cost variations you can potentially cap around. Ryze is the strongest potential cap.
  • Gameplan: Farm as many silver serpents as possible through out all points of the game. Tempo is the name of the game with this comp. It is ok to sacrifice econ to farm the maximum amount of serpents. There are multiple ways to be strong with Bilge. MF, Fizz, TF 3, Graves 3 or Illaoi 3 can stabilize your stage 4 and let you scale into late game.
    • Stage 1-2: Ideally you have 3 Bilgewater, but you can play other units and the go into this later. The latest I’d consider Bilge is if you have access to 5 on 3-2.
    • Stage 3: 5 Bilgewater is needed in this stage. Spend Silver Serpents to get the units if you have to. If you are able to cheat out 7 Bilge you will be massively ahead of your opponents. Consider leveling to 7 if need be to get 5 or 7 on line as early as 3-2. Buy Captain’s Brew as soon as possible as it is a great power increase to this comp.
    • Stage 4: Cycle between 3, 5 and 7 Bilge depending what you are looking for. Prioritize completing 3 items on your carry first with a premium Bilge item. If you are close to a 3 star complete that to be strong and then buy all the lower cost stat shards by toggling down to 3 Bilge. Do not go for a second Bilgewater item until you have bought at least all the 15 serpent stat shard upgrades.
    • Stage 5+: Go level 9, and slowly drop Bilgewater units. Depending what you choose to cap around slowly drop out of lower quality Bilgewater units.
  • Tips:
    • Cycling between 3, 5 and 7 Bilgewater is the key to a good Bilgewater game. Use 3 to find low cost stat shards and low cost champion copies. 5 for Captain’s brew and higher cost champions. 7 for high tier items.
    • Do not put Twisted Fate in the corner. Put him in the back row in the hex next to the corner so his cards hit better targets
    • AP is Tahm Kench’s best stat to feed, but he needs some base tankiness before stacking full AP.
    • Ryze can hold Bilge items and is an excellent way to cap out. Blackmarket Explosive is his best one.
    • Augment selection should be based around whatever makes you strongest. Serpent generation and tempo should always be your priority.

Item Holder: Graves, Twisted Fate
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Bilgewater Fiddlesticks

Items:

  • Miss Fortune: First Mate’s Flintlock, Deadman’s Dagger

Conditions:

  • Void Opener
  • S Tier if you reach Baron
  • Either
    • Fast 8 for Kai’Sa
    • Access to level 10 (for winout)

How to Play: Data Explorer

  • Unlockables: Rift Herald, Kai’Sa, Baron Nashor, Ziggs
    • Rift Herald: Field 2+ Void for 2 player combats and be level 7. This happens naturally as you play this comp, the earlier the better as Rift Herald is very strong.
    • Kai’Sa: Field a 2 item Longshot at Level 7. Kog’Maw is our main item holder in this comp so this will happen naturally.
    • Baron Nashor: Field 7 unique Voids at level 10. A lot of econ is required to go level 10, but once you do, you will immediately be strong.
    • Ziggs: Field a Zaunite or Yordle with 2 items at level 9. This is the cheaper way to cap out than Baron.
  • Gameplan: Two ways to play: Win out with Baron at level 10 or play for top 4 with Kai’Sa. If you have high econ portal/augments, that’s when you play for Baron. If not, you play for top 4 around 4 Void boards
    • Play around 2 Void opener and save as much Hp as possible while clicking econ augments. The hardest condition to meet in this comp is reaching level 10 for Baron. Kai’Sa and Rift Herald being easy to unlock makes playing tempo around Voids easier. If you have enough econ to level to 7 for Kai’Sa’s and Herald’s unlock on 3-2 it is more than worth it as you will easily win the rest of stage 3.
    • Stage 1-2: Hold every Void unit and play strongest board. Click an augment that makes it realistic to go level 10. You can slam either AD or AP items as Kai’Sa can use both. Playing from AP is easier due to Kog’Maw being the most convenient holder.
    • Stage 3: A second econ augment is preferred, if not play for the current stage and take the strongest tempo option. The goal is still to go level 10, take anything that facilitates that.
      • Note: If you are able to level to 7 early to unlock Kai’Sa and Herald you are likely to win most fights on stage 3, specially if you’ve unlocked Herald as well. Winning 3-5 and 3-6 should be very easy with Kai’sa and Herald unlocked.
    • Stage 4: By 4-1 you should have Kai’Sa and Herald unlocked. These 2 units are the back bone of your comp until you find Baron. If you do not have enough money to go level 10, look to be strong around Kai’Sa 2, Herald 2 and any random legendaries.
    • Stage 5+: Go level 10 and roll for Baron 2. If you made it this far you likely top 2. Max cap is never 9 Void. Senna and Shyvana’s aura effects are much better.
  • Tips:
    • This comp is a level 10 check, if you make it to 10, you will top 2. If not you are playing for top 4.
    • If an augment doesn’t provide you econ, it should provide you strength. Items tend to be best as Kai’Sa’s items can be specific and having 3 strong tank items lets Rift Herald shine. Whatever you take needs to help you bridge the gap to level 10.
    • If you can’t make it to level 10, stay on level 8 and play for the highest placement possible around Kai’Sa and Herald. If you do happen to be able to go 9 look to unlock Ziggs on a neutral round or using a TG.
    • AP Kai’Sa is auto attack based and wants Rageblade.
    • AD Kai’Sa is a caster and wants Shojin.
    • Baron is already CC immune so QSS and Titans are not efficient.
    • The augment Win Out gets you to level 10 immediately upon reaching level 9, making it the best augment for this comp.
    • If you have a healing item on Baron prioritize playing Spitter Spines on him, if not play Leeching Nucleus.
    • Your better mod should go on whoever is 2 star between Baron and Kai’Sa.

Item Holder: Kog’Maw, Caitlyn, Cho’Gath

How to Play: Data Explorer

  • Unlockables: Brock, Nidalee, Skarner, Ryze (Optional)
    • Brock: Collect 500 Sunshards throughout the game. This should naturally happen as you play this comp.
    • Nidalee: Field 2 star Neeko with 3 at level 7. Consider leveling for Nidalee if you are too far from 3 stars and need to pivot to normal Ixtal. Gives access to 5 Ixtal for healing.
    • Skarner: Field a Marksman or Caster with a Chain Vest item at level 7. Same as Nidalee. Heavily prio in AD lobbies.
    • Ryze: Play 3 region traits at level 9. Ixtal Ryze has one of the highest caps in the game.
  • Gameplan: There are a lot of boards you can play from Ixtal Cashouts Annie caps out very high and gives you a strong backline and frontline at the cost of 1 unit. AP variants are easier to play than AD as Millio holds AP items decently.
    • Stage 1-2: Play 3 Ixtal and ideally find a loss streak quest. If you miss on a loss streak quest pick the easiest to complete and look again.
    • Stage 3: You will likely be weak so a loss streak quest is nice or something that can be completed without impacting your ability to make econ. Prioritize quest completion.
    • Stage 4: Ideally by 4-5 we have Brock, at the latest 5-1. Cash out when you need to be strong. An easy way to be strong is to hold on to Targon units and to unlock Skarner.
    • Stage 5+: Go 9 and roll for 5 cost, Lucian & Senna are very good, as is Kindred. If you need to play into AP consider Zilean or Annie.
  • Tips:
    • Often times your best quests early game will be loss streak ones as they allow you to greed.
    • If none of your quest are good pick the easiest one. If none of your quest are realistically completable cash out and restart a quest. You don’t need to reach 500 concurrent Sunshards, just 500 sunshards earned total.
    • There is a lot of flexibility on this board, the only static unit is Brock.
    • Almost any AD items are fine on backline. Kindred prefers auto attack based items such as Guinsoo’s and Kraken. Lucian & Senna prefer caster items such as Shojin and IE. Most AP backline options like double mana.
    • Combat tends to be better as your cash out will likely give you items.
    • 3 Ixtal is not necessary post cash out, if you are able to unlock Sylas drop Neeko for him.
    • If you are able to unlock Nidalee she is very strong and worth playing around.
    • Ixtal Ryze caps very high.

Level456789

Conditions:

  • Early Vayne Drop is preferred
  • Strong Demacia Opener
  • Lots of items

How to Play:

  • Unlockables: Kai’Sa, Galio, Poppy, Ziggs
    • Kaiโ€™Sa: Field a 2 item Longshot at Level 7. This should happen naturally as we build items for Vayne.
    • Galio: Field 8 star levels of Demacia at level 8. This should happen naturally as you upgrade your Demacians.
    • Poppy: Field a Demacian or Yordle with 2 items in combat.
    • Ziggs: Field a Yordle or Zaun with 2 items in combat at level 9. Using a TG on Poppy is the easiest way to achieve this. If you are low HP do not sack a combat round for Ziggs, instead wait to unlock him on neutrals.
  • Gameplan: Play strong around a Demacia opener, ideally with a Vayne drop. Vayne will anchor your mid game and is worth building towards. You can make AD or AP items to play this comp as Kai’Sa can easily use both. Prioritize item augments to reach 3 item Vayne, Kai’Sa and a front liner.
    • Stage 1-2: Play your strongest Demacia opener, ideally around Vayne. If you have AP items and a Sona 2 consider the normal AP Demacia line or AP Kai’Sa.
    • Stage 3: Level to 7 to unlock Kai’Sa. If you are win streaking you can do this as early as 3-2 if you have sufficient econ. Kai’Sa 1 is very strong and will likely continue your win streak. If you can stay above 30 gold, it is likely worth it to level for the unlock.
    • Stage 4: Level to 8 on 4-2 and roll for upgrades. It should be easy to be strong on this stage around Vayne 2, Kai’Sa and ideally Garen or Taric 2. If you hit a lot of copies of Vayne on your roll down and theres multiple 3 cost reroll players, consider staying 8 for Vayne 3.
    • Stage 5+: Go 9 when possible and look to unlock Ziggs. Ziggs 2 can eventually replace Kai’Sa but it is often too expensive. Max cap drops Kog’Maw and Kai’Sa for strong 5 costs.
  • Tips:
    • This comp has very good early and mid game tempo windows making it a great comp to top 4 consistently. It’s easy to be strong stage 2 from a Vayne orb, followed by an early Kai’Sa unlock to solve stage 3 and a very strong 4-2 rolldown around Vayne 2 and Kai’Sa.
    • Void Mod Priority: Leeching Nucleus > Spitter Spines >>> Adrenaline Modules.
      • We already get damage amp from Longshot that Adrenaline modules is very inefficient.
    • This comp is a great default if you have a Demacia spot but AD items instead of Lux items.
    • Hold The Line is a great combat augment for this comp as we have a lot of damage amp but lack raw stats.

Conditions:

  • Strong Demacia opener
  • Item Augments

How to Play: Data Explorer

  • Unlockables: Poppy, Ziggs, Galio
    • Poppy: Field a Demacian or Yordle with 2 items in combat.
    • Ziggs: Field a Yordle or Zaun with 2 items in combat at level 9. Using a TG on Poppy is the easiest way to achieve this. If you are low HP do not sack a combat round for Ziggs, instead wait to unlock him on neutrals.
    • Galio: Field 8 star levels of Demacia at level 8.
  • Gameplan: Play around Demacia units. Prioritize items that win streak you, usually around an early Sona with AP items. Gunblade is very good late game but it is not a great early game slam. This is a tempo comp, you are very likely to be out scaled.
    • Stage 1-2: Play around upgraded Demacias and try to win streak. Sona 2 Jarvan 2 will be stable till 4-1 with invoker and 5 Demacia.
    • Stage 3: If you are loss streaking prioritize taking augments that give you the ability to hit Lux 2 Garen 2 on 4-2. Hold every low cost Demacia as they will eventually make you strong and allow for Galio’s unlock.
    • Stage 4: Go level 8 and roll for the board. Prioritize being strong on stage 4 and hitting your 4 cost upgrades to secure top 4. Level 9 is good but often a luxury as this comp does not scale well into the late game.
    • Stage 5+: Level to 9 if possible. If you’re stuck on 8 and are uncontested try 3 starring a 4 cost. Shyvana 2 > Swain 2 late game.
  • Tips:
    • Prioritize tempo more than anything. This comp rarely wins the game but is very good at top 4ing.
    • Gunblade is a very good item, but it is not something you can build without having real damage items first.
    • Item augments are highest prio in this comp as they offer tempo and it is item hungry.
    • Adaptive is a great item to slam for tempo in this comp as it doubles as a mana item for Lux and a tank item for Garen.
    • If you are uncontested 3 star Garen or Lux are a potential 1st place condition as level 9 is likely not enough to win out.
    • Dragonguards is an excellent way to cap out Demacia and is almost always an insta click.
    • Vayne 3 is an option if the game offers a lot of copies quickly and you had a strong Stage 2 and 3 around it, however it caps lower than playing around Lux.
    • Galio with MR items does a surprising amount of damage so if you have left over items prioritize Adaptive and Dragon’s Claw for him.

Conditions:

  • Viego 2 by 2-2
  • Shadow Isle Unlocks
  • Strong tempo opener

How to Play: 2 Minute Video | Data Explorer

  • Unlockables: Yorick, Gwen, Kalista, Thresh
    • Yorick: Field a Viego with an item
    • Gwen: Collect 10 souls and be level 5
    • Kalista: Collect 30 souls and be level 7
    • Thresh: 5 Shadow Isles Star Levels at level 8
    • All of these will be completed naturally by tempoing around the Shadow Isles units
  • Gameplan: Be strong around Viego 2 and play as many Shadow Isles units as possible in the early mid game to farm souls. Reach level 8 for Kalista 2, Braum 2 and then go 9 for legendaries. This comp can use most legendaries decently.
    • Stage 1-2: Play around Viego 2 with items and 2 Shadow Isles + 2 Quickstriker. Yorick is a Warden so prioritize this line if you find an early Loris.
    • Stage 3: Add Shadow Isles units as you level. Viego tends to fall off around here so do your best to find a transitionary unit such as Draven to hold Kalista items.
    • Stage 4: Roll aggressively at level 8 for Kalista 2, Braum 2 and Ambessa 2. You must have a strong stage 4 to farm enough souls to unlock Thresh.
    • Stage 5+: Thresh should be unlocked by latest 5-2. Go 9 after unlocking him and roll for legendaries to slowly replace lower cost units.
  • Tips:
    • The Shadow Isles units provide a good opener so it will be easy to be strong stage 2.
    • 2-2 is the absolute latest I’d consider going into this line. If you do not have Viego 2 by this point consider playing something else.
    • There are a lot of substitutions that can be made on this board, don’t be afraid to drop Gwen for a better disruptor or to sub out a bad Piltover for more legendaries.
    • An early Ornn can be gamewinning.
    • If there are a lot of Slayer Players in the lobby finding Ambessa could be difficult so don’t focus your itemization on her.
    • Gwen can hold excess AP items very well and is the best holder until you find Thresh.
    • Azir can be a win condition if you find him on your 4-2 roll down.

Item Holder: Viego, Shadow Isles units

Items:

  • Kalista: Nashor Tooth, Spear of Shojin, Striker’s Flail, Last Whisper
    • Any AD/Crit
  • Braum: Generic Tank

Level to 4 on 2-1 if you are strong/have a copy of the unit you are rerolling + a slammable item

Level to 5 on 2-5 if you are strong, if not make econ (20)

Level to 6 on 3-2 and roll to stabilize. You just slowroll from here.

Level 7 by 4-5 if possible (after you get 3*)

Level 8 5-2 if possible

Conditions:

  • Two Much Value makes this comp much more consistent
  • Lots of items
  • Early Aphelios Copies + Slams

How to Play:

  • Unlockables: Bard, Nidalee (Optional)
    • Bard: Reroll 3 times before stage 2 carousel. This is core to the line as he is the secondary carry.
    • Nidalee: Field 2 star Neeko with 3 at level 7. Nidalee will likely be your level 7 but is only playable if you have a TG or leftover AP items.
  • Gameplan: This comp is a top 4 farmer, do not expect to go higher than 3rd when playing this. Roll for Bard on 2-3 and copies of your units. You are very likely to mix streak with this comp but you should still play strongest as HP is your most valuable resource.
    • Stage 1-2: Play your strongest board around Aphelios plus whatever frontline you have. Roll for Bard on 2-3. Save as much HP as possible.
    • Stage 3: Roll aggressively on 3-2 for an upgraded board. From 3-2 to 4-1 you should aim to be strong and win most if not all of your fights.
    • Stage 4: Come 4-2 you are likely to start falling behind if you have not hit your 3 stars. Continue to be aggressive for your 3 stars as you will struggle to be strong even with 3 stars on stage 5.
    • Stage 5+: The amount of HP you saved up until this point will dictate your placement. Match ups into Fast 9 boards are not great unless they are severely unupgraded.
  • Tips:
  • Guinsoo’s and IE are required on Aphelios and attempting to play this line without them is very ill advised.
  • Save HP at all cost, come stage 5 you are very unlikely to win against 3 star 3 Cost or Fast 9 boards. Your placement is directly correlated to how much HP you save before stage 5.
  • If your lobby has a lot of 3 Cost reroll players consider going for Loris 3 and Nautilus 3.
  • Aphelios sunders so do not make Evenshroud or Last Whisper.

Item Holder: Aphelios, Bard
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Arcanist Bard, Warden Neeko

Items:

  • Aphelios: Guinsoo’s*, Infinity Edge*, Kraken Slayer

  • Ziggs, Kobuko, Kennen, Fizz Unlocks
  • A strong Yordle Opener

How to Play:

  • Unlockables: Veigar, Kennen, Kobuko, Fizz, Ziggs, Sylas
    • Veigar: Field a Yordle with 1 Rabadon’s Deathcaps equipped at level 7.
    • Kobuko: Field 6 Star levels in Bruisers, Yordles or Invokers at level 6.
    • Kennen: Field 5 Star levels in Ionians, Yordles or Defenders at level 5.
    • Fizz: Field 5 unique Yordles or Bilgewater units.
    • Ziggs: Field a Zaunite or Yordle with 2 items at level 9.
    • Sylas: Sell 2 star Garen at level 9. Sylas is the highest cap and should be played for if your goal is to go level 9.
  • Gameplan: Play around a strong AP opener, ideally Yordles. Unlock Veigar as soon as possible. Play 8 Yordle as soon as possible and as long as possible to have enough money to reach Ziggs 2.
    • Stage 1-2: Hold Yordles or your best AP opener. If you have an augment that gives you rods or manipulates your items on 2-1 you can consider this line, otherwise look to play something else.
    • Stage 3: Complete both your Deathcaps as soon as possible, level to 7 as soon as you have both as Veigar 1 will make you strong on stage 3.
    • Stage 4: Level to 8 for 8 Yordle and Veigar 2. If you are healthy consider sacking your way to level 9 for Ziggs.
    • Stage 5+: Go 9 for Ziggs as he is the strongest Yordle unit. You can look to cut Yordles of higher value units such as 5 cost. Tristana and Rumble should be the first to go.
  • Tips:
    • Veigar’s spell innately crits so building items like Striker’s Flail and Nashor’s Tooth are great synergy.
    • Fizz is a great item holder for a Sylas which is a great way to cap.
    • If you find 3-2 Coronation immediately level to 7 to play 8 Yordle on 3-3.

Item Holder: Lulu, Teemo
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Yordle Shyvanna, Yordle Sylas, Yordle Wukong

Conditions:

  • Very Rich
  • Asol BIS
  • Early Taric

How to Play: Data Explorer

  • Unlockables: Diana, Asol, Skarner, Shurimans, Sylas
    • Diana: Field Leona with 3 items at level 7. The sooner we complete this, the sooner we get Asol.
    • Asol: Field Every other Targon unit. Finding Taric is priority 1, followed by unlocking Diana. The sooner you get Asol in the sooner scales. Asol’s first few turns are extremely weak so plan to unlock him as soon as possible.
    • Skarner: Field a Marksman or Caster with a Chain Vest item at level 7. Skarner is basically a Targon in the sense that he provides a team wide buff and is an over stated traitless unit so he is a great in but not mandatory.
    • Shurimans: Renekton is a great duo carry, Nasus is a great tank, and Xerath is the highest possible cap.
    • Sylas: Sell Garen 2 and be level 9. Highest Cap, great at 1 star, game winning at 2 star.
  • Gameplan: Asol’s ability scales with casts throughout the game, aim to unlock Asol as soon as possible. 4-3 is ideally the latest as the first turn of playing Asol is the weakest and he snowballs from there. If you find a way to accelerate Asol’s unlock even further it is worth playing into.
    • Stage 1-2: Click a premium econ augment such as Hedge Fund and loss streak for Asol BIS. The biggest priority is having a BIS Asol by 4-3 at the very latest.
    • Stage 3: If you find an early Taric level to 7 and look to unlock Diana immediately for Asol’s unlock.
    • Stage 4: Play your strongest board every turn around Asol and do your best to scale. If you don’t have Jeweled Gauntlet and 1 Nashors on Asol by 4-4 you are likely bot 4. This comp is very thresholdy and if you ever fall behind the game becomes very hard to play. Roll aggressively for upgrades, every stage 4 fight you survive is more time you’re allowed to scale. If you have enough HP you can play more Targon units to accelerate scaling. If you are low HP play your strongest board every turn and survive.
    • Stage 5+: Make your way to 9 if your board is fully upgraded other than Asol, other wise roll. The more HP you saved in early stage 3 and 4 the more time you’ve given yourself to scale. You should never end the game with low quality Targon units such as Zoe and Aphelios on your board.
  • Tips:
    • Asol’s first turn is his weakest, after 25 stacks he begins to come on line and both deal more damage and farm more efficiently.
    • If you somehow find Asol before 4-2 you can very likely snowball the game from there. If you have Asol later than 4-3, the game is likely to be hard.
    • If you natural a Taric, roll for Leona as soon as possible
    • Hold units to replace the low quality Targon units on your board.
    • The board shown above is the max cap but you can cap around almost any 5 cost if you have items for them.
    • Swain can replace Skarner.

Item Holder: Zoe, Aphelios
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:

Items:

  • Asol: Jeweled Gauntlet, 2x Nashor’s Tooth

Level to 6 on 3-2 and roll to stabilize. You just slowroll from here.

Level 7 by 4-5 if possible (after you get 3*)

Level 8 5-2 if possible

Conditions:

  • 2-1 Econ augment that ideally provides rolls
  • 3 Ixtal by 3-2 at the very latest, ideally 2-1 or 2-3
  • 2 sets of Ap items for either Milio 3, Nidalee or Ori 3
  • Strong frontline items on Neeko
  • Extremely Skill Testing and execution heavy
  • If you do not reach Brock you are likely bot 4

How to Play: Data Explorer

  • Unlockables: Bard, Orianna, Nidalee, Skarner, Brock
    • Bard: Roll 3 times before stage 2 carousel. This is best done by having an econ augment that provides rolls. Augments like calculated loss, epoch and trade sector are great direction for a Bard game.
    • Orianna: Field a Piltover unit with 2 items. Complete this as soon as possible as Orianna is a strong unit.
    • Brock: Collect 500 Sunshards throughout the game. This should naturally happen as you play this comp.
  • Gameplan: This is one of the hardest comps in TFT history, one mistake in selecting your quest and you can set yourself behind in a massive way. Identifying if you need to cash out at 200 Shards for tempo to realistically hit Brock or if you can greed for a greater cash out is also a hard decision. Aim to unlock Bard on 2-3 and 5 loss for item priority and free rolls from Bard. Be strong at the latest 3-3 unless you have a loss streak Ixtal Quest. Prioritize your quest as they can be a huge win condition. Every 3 star you can greed scales up Bard.
    • Stage 1-2: Hold Ixtal units and roll for Bard on 2-3. Aim to lose the first 3 rounds of stage 2 for carousel prio on tears, rods and potentially Milio. Roll 3 times on 2-3 to unlock Bard.
    • Stage 3: Roll aggressively on 3-2 to find an upgraded board, Ixtal and unlock Orianna. It is important to be strong from 3-2 starting on as player damage has been increased in stage 3. Prioritize your Ixtal quest.
    • Stage 4: Slowroll for 3 stars to continue scaling Bard. Play around realistic Ixtal quest to not lock yourself out. Plan around unlocking Brock. Unlock Nidalee as soon as possible and itemize her with leftovers. Go 7 for after 3 starring Neeko and Bard for either 5 Ixtal, Swain, Taric or a random 5 cost.
    • Stage 5+: Level up and sub out lower value units for 5 costs/high value units like Taric and Swain. Brock should be unlocked by now. 5 Ixtal is fine to play if it involves playing Brock but Qiyana should never be on final board.
  • Tips:
    • This comp really spikes because of how strong econ from Bard is, Ixtal provides mid game value + scaling.
    • Nidalee is a great way to stabilize and should be played around.
    • Ideally lose the first 3 rounds of stage 2 to get carousel priority for tear/rod and potentially Milio.
    • We roll on 2-3 for Bard as we naturally level to 4 and have odds to see Milio.
    • Brock is the highest cap and should be played for. It is a very easy way to win.
    • Arcanist Bard is great as Arcanist spat gives a 20% mana refund on kill serving as both an damage and mana generation item.
    • The 200 Sunshard cash out table is good for how easy it is to achieve. Consider taking it if you are behind on tempo and HP. It is also the earliest acceptable cash out.
    • Alternating Win/Loss quests are very powerful but difficult to pull off. It takes a bit of practice to get right and a lot of scouting. If you manage to complete one you are likely to win the game.

Item Holder: Bard, Neeko, Milio
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Arcanist Bard, Invoker Bard

Conditions:

  • Double Trouble Augment
  • Strong AP item slams

How to Play:

  • Unlockables: No unlockable units are required
  • Gameplan: This comp is only playable from double trouble. Play your strongest board until you are able to field 2 Malzahars. Once you have 4 copies of Malzahar and 3 items on Malzahar 2 you will be incredibly strong. Do not get baited into playing subpar units with Double Trouble in the early game as you often do not have enough unit slots or unit quality to play around this augment.
    • Stage 1-2: Play your strongest AP opener while collecting strong AP items for Malzahar. Prioritize 1 Mana then Jeweled Gauntlet.
    • Stage 3: Continue to play your strongest board while picking up Malzahar and Wardens. You can pivot into Malzahar if you have 2 copies. If you are low HP level to 7 on 3-5 and search for your DT pairs to spike and save HP.
    • Stage 4: Level to 7 on 4-1 and search for 4 copies of Malzahar, Loris and Nautilus. After this slowroll for 3 stars. Priority is Malzahar > Nautilus > Loris.
    • Stage 5+: Continue to roll if you haven’t hit 3 stars yet. Level for more Wardens when possible.
  • Tips:
    • Void Module Tierlist- Spikes > Leeching > Adrenaline
    • Make sure to play your strongest board to bridge the gap to your stable DT board.
    • You can play to itemize your second Malzahar 2 and it is better than Seraphine 1.

Conditions:

  • Strong Ionia opener
  • Item Augments
  • Econ Ionia Path is preferred
  • Infinity Edge Yunara

How to Play: Data Explorer

  • Unlockables: Sett, Volibear (optional), Kennen (optional)
    • Sett: Field only 1 unit in the front 2 rows of your board for a turn at level 8. This is very simple to complete and should be done immediately when you hit 8.
    • Volibear: Field a unit with 3400 or more HP at level 8. A turn with 4 bruisers in is a great way to complete this. Volibear caps higher than 5 Ionia, play into this if you have access to a Warmogs.
    • Kennen: Field 5 Star levels in Ionians, Yordles or Defenders at level 5.
  • Gameplan: The comp is best played from value generating Ionia paths. The priority on Ionia paths goes as follows: Gold > XP > Stacking AD/AP > Blades > 3 Stars. The econ paths end up giving comparable stats to combat paths later on in the game. Avoid the 5 Ionia variant if you do not have a good Ionia path.
    • Stage 1-2: Play around a strong Ionia opener, this is a tempo comp, if you have Jhin 2 or Shen 2 it should be easy to be strong. Item augments are great for streak.
    • Stage 3: Keep up tempo and save hp around 5 Ionia in the mid game. The Freljord variant is only playable if you have items that enable Volibear’s Unlock and you are able to itemize him. 5 Ionia in an econ path caps much higher.
    • Stage 4: Unlock Sett and Volibear as soon as possible. Roll down on 4-2 for a strong board, the unlocked 5 cost should help a lot. Sett is very strong if you have items for him. There’s a lot of flexibility and you should play around whatever is 2 starred first.
    • Stage 5+: Go level 9 and cap the board. Highest cap will almost never have more than 5 Ionia, unless you have an emblem. Kindred, Shyvana, Senna and Taric are great ins.
  • Tips:
    • This comp is very flexible and you can play around whatever you find for front line, Yunara with 2 Quickstriker is a lot of consistent damage.
    • Freljord is a flexible core that caps decently and is showcased here. 5 Ionia is better if you have a good path and Sett items.
    • Investing in Sett is very strong if you stay in Ionia.
    • Belt Overflow automatically unlocks Volibear and is very strong with Yunara scaling with Rageblade.
    • If you have gold or exp Ionia you can play 7 Ionia in the mid game as it is strong, cheap and a great enabler for going level 9. Ideally do not end the game on this.
    • If you have leftover AD items and a fully itemized Kindred and Yunara, Sett can take AD items decently. After he comes back from doing his sit ups, all of his damage is converted to true damage making his auto attacks deal quite a lot of damage.
    • Yunara’s spell scales her attack speed based on AP making Titan’s a great item on her providing both AD and AS, it is much better than Kraken. The CC immunity can also be great against comps that run Swain.
    • Jeweled Lotus is the combat best augment for this comp as Yunara needs spell crit, Sett and Ahri also utilize it well.

Item Holder: Jhin, Draven, Shen, Illaoi
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Ionia Kindred, Ionia Senna, Freljord Wukong

Conditions:

  • Darkin Bow makes this comp S+
  • QSS is required
  • Evenshroud is required
  • Lots of items

How to Play: Data Explorer

  • Unlockables: Aatrox, Rift Herald
    • Aatrox: Field a unit with 30% omnivamp at level 8. BT + 2 Slayer unlocks Aatrox.
    • Rift Herald: Field 2+ Void for 2 player combats and be level 7. Herald is the tankiest unit available and is the second best Void unit we can play outside of Bel’Veth.
  • Gameplan: Play around BIS Bel’Veth slams and omnivamp items. It should be easy to be strong as this comp has 3 strong opener options in Qiyana, Briar and Rek’Sai. Get 2 Void in as soon as possible for Rift Herald.
    • Stage 1-2: Hold Void and Slayer units, it should be relatively easy to find a melee carry to be our temporary Bel’Veth/Ambessa while we reach level 8.
    • Stage 3: Keep up tempo by adding more Slayers or Noxus units, try to save as much HP as possible during this stage in preparation for a 4-2 roll down. Prioritize Evenshroud > QSS > Kraken > Healing items.
    • Stage 4: Roll down aggressively on 4-2 if you are rich enough. If you have 2 healing items Aatrox should be unlocked very easily by placing them on any of the Slayers. Play GP over Aatrox if you can’t unlock him.
    • Stage 5+: Level to 9 for legendaries and cap out. The highest cap involves dropping some of the low cost Void units for other legendaries but that is quite expensive.
  • Tips:
    • Strong Opener options makes this comp very easy to play into early on.
    • QSS is almost mandatory on Bel’Veth due to the amount of frontline CC in the game at the moment. It is not recommended to ever build Kraken without access to a QSS because Bel’Veth will likely die before getting much value. Titan’s can replace QSS but due to it’s delayed effect on CC immunity and not providing AS it is a worse option.
    • The Darkin Bow is by far the best item on Bel’Veth. RFC and Flickerblade are also quite powerful.
    • If you are unable to unlock Aatrox it is fine to play a Gangplank in his place. Aatrox is great but not required.
    • Item priority is Bel’Veth > Ambessa > Aatrox > Rift > Fiddle
    • Last Whisper is a mediocre replacement for Evenshroud as we have so many carries that the AoE shred is very valuable.
    • Cho’Gath and Rek’Sai offer great traits and are decent units to play for their cost but not max cap. To fully cap out drop them for Senna and Shyvana.
    • Bel’Veth Void Mods: Spitter Spines > Leeching Nucleus >>>> Adrenaline Modules

Level456789

Conditions:

  • QSS components
  • Evenshroud required
  • Early Bilgewater
  • Lots of items
  • Artifacts are very strong

How to Play:

  • Unlockables: Rift Herald, Mel (optional)
    • Rift Herald: Field 2+ Void for 2 player combats and be level 7. This happens naturally as you play this comp, the earlier the better as Rift Herald is very strong.
    • Mel: Ambessa dies in combat with an item equip. This is optional but a very easy to unlock and premium Noxus unit to give us 3 Noxus.
  • Gameplan: Play around your strongest available melee carry and save HP while collecting items for GP and a duo carry, ideally Bel’Veth. Utilize the Bilgewater shop to buy dupes and GP copies. Do not roll on level 7 for GP 3, it will happen naturally at level 8 as you roll for Bel’Veth, Ambessa and Rift Herald.
    • Stage 1-2: Play around Qiyana or Briar 2 with a strong item slam for GP. It should be easy to be strong around Briar and Qiyana as they are premium early game units. If you have a Bilge opener play into that.
    • Stage 3: Get Bilgewater in as soon as possible to start farming serpents for GP copies. Briar and Qiyana will start to fall off around this point. You can considering rolling on 3-5 at level 7 to stabilize if you are lacking HP.
    • Stage 4: Level to 8 on 4-2 and roll for upgraded 4 costs. It will be easier to stabilize around Bel’Veth and Ambessa until you find GP 3 so itemize them until you reach GP 3.
    • Stage 5+: Continue to roll for GP 3 and all of your 4 costs. Leveling to 9 for a Fiddlesticks is very strong but expensive and not not as important as upgrading your board. Do not level until you’ve upgraded your 4 costs at a minimum. If you’re close to GP 3 find him before leveling.
  • Tips:
    • If you have 5 bilge early but not a good normal bilge spot, this comp is a great alternative.
    • Do not buy anything from the Bilge shop other than GP, dupes and 15 serpent stat shards. Cycle through your shop efficiently as to not get stuck with 4 shop options you do not wish to buy.
    • Ideally you have 2 QSS, one for GP, one of Bel’Veth but if you only have 1 prioritize QSS Bel’Veth.
    • If it is not realistic to find GP 3, prioritize itemizing Ambessa and pushing levels instead. Ambessa is slightly less powerful than GP 3. If you are unable to play for GP 3 drop Bilge units for higher quality 4 and 5 costs.
    • Item Priority: GP 3 > Bel’Veth > Ambessa > Herald > GP 2
    • Evenshroud is much better than Last Whisper due all of our carries getting value from the AoE sunder.
    • Bel’Veth Void Mods: Spitter Spines > Leeching Nucleus >>> Adrenaline Modules

Item Holder: Qiyana, Briar, GP, Rek’Sai
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Slayer Ambessa > Vanquisher Bel’Veth

Items:

  • Gangplank: QSS*, Darkin Scythe*, Sterak’s Gage, Hand of Justice

Conditions:

  • Access to LeBlanc 3 or Mel 2
  • Lots of items
  • Bringer of Ruin Augment
  • Noxus Emblem

How to Play:

  • Unlockables: LeBlanc, Darius, Mel, Kobuko
    • LeBlanc: Field a Sion with 2 items. If you have an early Sion with an AP slam, heavily consider this line.
    • Darius: Field Draven with 1 item at level 5. This can be used to cheat out 5 Noxus and should be heavily prioritized.
    • Mel: Ambessa with 1 item dies in combat. This is a priority if you are looking to fast 9.
    • Kobuko: Field 6 Star levels in Bruisers, Yordles or Invokers at level 6.
  • Gameplan: Play a strong opener around LeBlanc and 3 Noxus. You have 2 options to cap out this line, LeBlanc 3 or Mel 2. If you are confident in your ability to reach 9 and Mel 2 pursue that, otherwise roll on 8 for LeBlanc 3. This comp can cap high if you have an emblem to replace a low value Noxian.
    • Stage 1-2: You are likely to be strong around LeBlanc + 3 Noxus making it easy to save HP this stage.
    • Stage 3: If you took an Econ augment look to level to 7 on 3-5 and roll for Noxus upgrades and potentially 7 Noxus.
    • Stage 4: Roll aggressively on 4-2 for 7 Noxus + Kobuko. If you’re healthy push to level 9 if not dig on 8 for LeBlanc and potentially Darius 3.
    • Stage 5+: Go 9 as soon as possible and play for Mel 2. If you have an Emblem you can play almost any 2 star legendary with it. If you are very ahead and do not have an emblem begin dropping low cost Noxians for 2 star legendaries.
  • Tips:
    • This is a tempo comp, look to be strong as early as possible to be able to salvage placements in the late game as you will be outscaled unless you have an emblem and access to level 9.
    • If you have an Emblem look to play for fast 9 instead of rerolling for LeBlanc 3 as a legendary with Noxus spat is a great way to cap.
    • Even if you are rerolling for LeBlanc aim to go level 8 first as fitting 7 Noxus + Kobuko is the key to a strong Noxus board.
    • Bringer of Ruin makes Attakan scale extremely well and can be game winning.
    • Lifting Competition can enable the fast 9 version of this line. Look to cash out 3 times then ignore the impossible lift. Play Bruisers in the mid game to cash out while holding Noxus units to transition into on level 8.

Item Holder: LeBlanc, Sion
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Disruptor Leblanc, Noxus Kindred > Fiddlesticks > Volibear > Shyvana

Level 8 5-2 if possible

Conditions:

  • Econ Ionia or Spirits Ionia
  • Early Yasuos
  • Darkin Scythe moves this comp up a tier

How to Play: Data Explorer

  • Unlockables: Yone, Kennen, Sett
    • Yone: Field 2 Star Yasuo at level 7. This happens as you naturally play the comp. Depending on your items you will move items over to Yone when you 2 star him.
    • Kennen: Field 5 Star levels in Ionians, Yordles or Defenders at level 5.
    • Sett: Field only 1 unit in the front 2 rows of your board for a turn at level 8. This is very simple to complete and should be done immediately when you hit 8.
  • Gameplan: Hit Yasuo 3 as quickly as possible and then level for Yone 2, Sett 2 and Yunara 2.
    • Stage 1-2: Hold Yasuo copies and try to play your strongest Ionia board. If you have econ Ionia you are likely in a good spot.
    • Stage 3: Level on 3-2 and roll down for Yasuo 2 and upgrades.
    • Stage 4: Try to hit Yasuo as quickly as possible. Do not chase any other 3 Star unless it is basically handed to you. The sooner you get to level 8 the better as Sett is a huge spike.
    • Stage 5+: Go level 9 after upgrading all of your 4 cost. Most of the time you will end the game on level 8 unless you have gold Ionia.
  • Tips:
    • Heroic Grab Bag is by far the best econ augment you can see for this comp. You only want to roll for Yasuo 3 and then push levels for Yone, Yunara and Sett.
    • Most of the time you will move items to Yone 2 off of Yasuo 3 as he is a far better unit. The only condition I would keep premium items on Yasuo is with Darkin Scythe.
    • Retribution is very strong in this comp as it basically gives 2 IEs that also offer healing.

Item Holder: Yasuo, Jhin
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Ionia Kindred, Aatrox

Items:

  • Yasuo: Darkin Scythe*, Mittens*, Infinity Edge, Hand of Justice, Edge of Night

Conditions:

  • Access to Azir and Shuriman units
  • Lots of money
  • A Warmogs or multiple health items to unlock Volibear

How to Play:

  • Unlockables: Kobuko, Volibear, Orianna, Nasus/Renekton/Xerath
    • Kobuko: Field 6 Star levels in Bruisers, Yordles or Invokers at level 6. This is ideally done on 3-7 neutrals by holding extra units.
    • Volibear: Field a unit with 3400 or more HP at level 8. A turn with 4 bruisers in is a great way to complete this.
    • Orianna: Field a Piltover with 2 items. Great unit to play around early game and will likely be your holder.
    • Nasus/Renekton/Xerath: Unlock any of these and play around them. If you are able to play 3 Shurima drop Taric.
  • Gameplan: Play around a strong AP opener and look to preserve HP and make your way to level 8. Seraphine and Lissandra will anchor your mid game making it possible to go level 9. Getting to Azir is extremely important to properly cap out this comp.
    • Stage 1-2: Play around your strongest AP opener and slam almost any AP or mana generation item as both Seraphine’s and Lissandra’s itemization can be flexed. If you can’t be strong in the early game, it is recommended to play the 4 Piltover version as it spikes harder on stage 4.
    • Stage 3: Continue to push tempo look to take item augments as this comp is very item hungry. Prioritize finding belts to unlock Volibear easily. If its not realistic to find Volibear, go for the 4 Piltover variant.
    • Stage 4: Roll down on 4-2 for Lissandra and Seraphine. Hold Bruisers to facilitate Volibear’s unlock, it is ok to play 4 Bruiser or something similar for a turn if you need to unlock Voli. Braum 2 with a warmogs and 1 more health item completes Voli as well. It is important to be strong on Stage 4, this is not a fast 9 comp. Look to 2 star at least 1 of Seraphine or Lissandra and Braum. 4 Piltover stabilizes easily.
    • Stage 5+: Level to 9 and look for Azir. If you are able to reach Renekton or Nasus you are likely to top 4. Having enough HP to play around Azir is key. If you’re in the 4 Piltover variant look to slowly drop Piltovers for higher quality units.
  • Tips:
    • If you have Invoker Seraphine look to play 4 Invokers. If you have Disruptor Lissandra, look to play 4 Disruptors.
    • You need at least 1 item augment to find success with this comp.
    • Seraphine prefers spell crit and damage items, while Lissandra holds utility.
    • Prioritize Seraphine over Lissandra.
    • Voli 2 > Renek 2 > Voli 1 > Renek 1, unless 3 Shurima in which case Renek 2 > Voli 2.
    • Piltover Module Priority:
    • 2 Piltover: Continuum Cogs > Blast Shield > Electrical Overload > Tuned Oscillator > Rest
    • 4 Piltover: Acceleration Gate >>> Gigantification Ray > Magnetron Coil > Rest

Item Holder: Anivia, Sona, Leblanc

How to Play:

  • Gameplan: Stabilize on stage 3 around Ekko 2 then slow roll for Ekko 3.
    • Stage 1-2: Play around a melee carry holding Ekko’s items. Make econ intervals and prepare to spike on stage 3.
    • Stage 3: Roll aggressive on 3-2 to spike around Ekko 2 and other upgrades. It is very important to be strong this stage. The key to this comp is having a strong stage 3.
    • Stage 4: Aim to hit Ekko 3 by 4-5. The sooner you hit the easier it’ll be to leverage your HP for a top 4.
    • Stage 5+: Level to 8 and 9 when possible and upgrade your 4 cost. Look to drop to 3 Zaun and add legendaries.

Conditions:

  • Titans and Sterak’s Warwick
  • Ability to reach Kindred

How to Play:

  • Unlockables: Warwick, Singed
    • Warwick: Field a Jinx and Vi holding an item at level 7. It is very common to level to 7 on 3-5 and roll for 1 Jinx and 1 Vi to unlock Warwick on 3-6.
    • Singed: Lose 35 Player Health and field 4 unique Zaunites or Juggernauts. This happens naturally as you play the game. This is a loss streak line so it is quite realistic to have Singed on Stage 3.
  • Gameplan: Collect BIS Warwick items while loss streaking. Level to 7 on 3-5 and aim to spike on 3-6 with your first copy of Warwick with BT and Titans. Jinx is a great item holder for Kindred while you get there. If you happen to start the game with Qiyana 2 or Briar 2 and a BIS Warwick item you can play this line from win streak.
    • Stage 1-2: Make Warwick items on Qiyana or Briar if possible. If your opener is not very good it is ok to loss streak to secure BIS Warwick by stage 4. It is ok to be weak this stage.
    • Stage 3: Level to 7 on 3-5 and look to unlock Warwick on 3-6. If you played this line from loss streak it is very important to try to win 3-5 and 3-6.
    • Stage 4: Level to 8 on 4-2 and look for Warwick 2. It is extremely important to be strong on this stage if you played this line from Loss streak. If you are not strong on stage 4, it is very likely you will die before reaching Kindred 2 which is the ideal win condition for this comp.
    • Stage 5+: Level to 9 when possible and look for Kindred. If you are stuck on level 8 you are likely playing for 4th at best.
  • Tips:
    • Singed can be placed on the outside of your frontline in front of the enemy carry to force them to walk up while they are targeting Singed.
    • Always place your main tank next to Warwick to protect him from getting targeted by enemy carries.

Item Holder: Qiyana, Briar

Sona Reroll

TFT Comps Set 16 - Tier List & Meta Snapshot Patch 16.8

Leveling Pattern:

1 Cost Reroll

Do not press the level button at all until you 3 star your 1 cost.

On Stage 3-1, at level 4, you can roll to 32g (most common), slow roll, or roll until you hit 3*.

Be flexible in when you roll, be willing to break econ intervals if you are close or need tempo. Ideally finish 1 3 star by 3-5.

All in on 4-1 if you haven’t hit already.

Conditions:

  • Early Sona and Jarvan copies
  • Strong Demacia opener
  • Lots of items

How to Play:

  • Unlockables: Poppy, Kobuko, Galio
    • Poppy: Field a Demacian or Yordle with 2 items in combat. Should happen naturally as you play this comp.
    • Kobuko: Field 6 Star levels in Bruisers, Yordles or Invokers at level 7. Do this whenever convenient/won’t lose you HP. With Sona 3 and Poppy 2 you only need 1 star level.
    • Galio: Field 8 star levels of Demacia at level 8. Level as quickly as possible for Galio after hitting Sona 3.
  • Gameplan: Play around a strong Demacia opener and stay lower level collecting Sona and Jarvan copies. Aim to hit Sona 3 by 3-5 if possible, 4-1 at the latest.
    • Stage 1-2: Hold your strongest board around Sona and Jarvan, do not level at all and econ up for a 3-1 roll down.
    • Stage 3: Roll down on level 4 at 3-1 for upgrades and Sona and Jarvan copies. Aim to be strong this stage. The ideal level 5 board is Sona, Jarvan, Poppy + Defender and Invoker.
    • Stage 4: If you haven’t hit your 3 stars roll very aggressively on 4-1. Level when you can for more Demacia units.
    • Stage 5+: Level to 8 if you haven’t already and roll for 4 cost upgrades. You will rarely go 9 with this comp, prioritize being strong around Garen 2 and Lux 2 and aim for top 4.
  • Tips:
    • This is a tempo comp so prioritize being strong during early and mid game, you are not likely to win out.
    • Sona itemization is flexible, arch + 1 mana item is the priority.

How to Play: Data Explorer

  • Unlockables: Singed, Rift Herald
    • Singed: Lose 35 Player Health and field 4 unique Zaunites or Juggernauts. This happens naturally as you play the game. This is a loss streak line so it is quite realistic to have Singed on Stage 3.
    • Rift Herald: Herald: Field 2+ Void for 2 player combats and be level 7.
  • Gameplan: Hold early Juggernauts and Zauns, lose streak while making utility items for Singed. Your first Singed spikes you decently so having 3 items for him by Stage 3 is recommended. The goal of this comp is to be very strong on early Stage 4.
    • Stage 1-2: Hold Juggernauts and Zauns, lose streak with an econ augment preferbly.
    • Stage 3: Don’t be afraid to roll a little to activate Singed, his unlock is the easiest way to save HP in stage 3.
    • Stage 4: Roll on 4-1 or 4-2 depending on econ and aim to be as strong as possible. This comp doesn’t cap the highest but should successfully steam roll everyone aiming to go 9 and most other level 8 players.
    • Stage 5+: Try to go level 9 and add any legendary you find. It is very hard to cap this board out as it involves selling Malzahar for Azir and playing Shurimans.
  • Tips:
    • This comp is a good default if you have Singed items but no strong opener.
    • Vi and Neeko are extremely contested and it is worth losing econ on stage 3 to hold copies as you might not find them later on.
    • Risky Moves and Nine Lives help proc Singed’s unlock and are very good.

How to Play: Data Explorer

  • Unlockables: Graves
    • Graves: Field a Bilgewater unit with 2 items. Graves is important to unlock early Bilgewater. This trait provides a lot of econ and value.
  • Gameplan: Play 3 Bilgewater as early as possible to find duplicators and copies of GP and Nautilus. With the extra resources from Bilge, there should be minimal rolling in the mid game. Play tempo around Briar, Qiyana or Viego until you find GP. Prioritize buying whatever unit you have items for from the Bilge shop.
    • Stage 1-2: Hold every Bilgewater unit and be ready to slam on TF at 1-4 if it means a 3 Bilge opener. The stronger you are, the more Silver Serpents you’ll farm, the faster you reach GP 3 and Naut 3.
    • Stage 3: Don’t be afraid to roll on 3-2 or 3-5 if you have pairs, hitting a early Draven 2 can snowball your game.
    • Stage 4: Aim for a 3 star by 4-5 at the latest. The sooner you hit Draven the easier it will be to rebuild your econ.
    • Stage 5+: Slowly level for Legendaries + Taric
  • Tips:
    • 3 Bilge has the highest odds at giving you units so when you refresh the shop make sure to bench 5+ Bilge.
    • The Darkin Scythe gives GP a dash on kill which eliminates a lot of DPS loss as he has to walk to the next target making it a great item on him. The healing is also great.
    • If you have a Draven and Heroic grab bag, it is worth it to instantly dupe him to generate more money from his passive and win streak.

Level456789

Conditions:

  • Tempo opener with any direction
  • Solid default from low direction spots
  • Lots of items
  • Warmog’s Armor is preferred
  • Volibear Unlock

How to Play: Data Explorer

  • Unlockables: Volibear, Kobuko, Orianna (optional)
    • Volibear: Field a unit with 3400 or more HP at level 8. A turn with 4 bruisers in is a great way to complete this.
    • Kobuko: Field 6 Star levels in Bruisers, Yordles or Invokers at level 6.
    • Orianna: Field a Piltover with 2 items.
  • Gameplan: 5 Freljord is a very flexible trait that plays around a lot powerful units. The trait itself is both selfish and teamwide providing some utility to any unit in the AoE of the turrets. Max Cap can drop out of 5 Freljord but it is quite expensive. The hardest part of this comp is successfully unlocking Volibear.
    • Stage 1-2: Play around either AP or AD slams, both variants are very strong so just play strongest board while holding on to cheap Freljord units. This is a comp that can be pivoted into from a 6 Yordle opener.
    • Stage 3: Play strongest board around whatever slams you chose to make and make your way to level 8 while saving HP. Prioritize item augments.
    • Stage 4: Rolldown for a strong mid game board, playing around 5 Freljord ideally. The sooner you unlock Volibear, the easier it will be to fit this. For the AD variant Yunara is an alternatives to Kindred.
    • Stage 5+: Go level 9 and upgrade your board. Slowly dropping to 3 Freljord for more legendaries is preferred but very expensive and unrealistic in most scenarios. Most of the time 2 Star Freljords will beat out 1 star legendaries.
  • Tips:
    • This comp is very flexible and can support many different backlines. The main takeaway is that 5 Freljord is a core that provides teamwide buffs and flexible hanging traits. The 2 boards highlighted are easy to play into and flex around with the main caveat being Volibear’s unlock.
    • Slam everything you can for tempo in this comp, your main advantage will be flexibility as this line can carry around most things in the game.
    • Remember to hold extra bruisers for an easier time activating Volibear.

Item Holder: LeBlanc, Sona, Anivia
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Bruiser Braum, Freljord on any frontliner

Items:

  • Braum: Generic tank

    Ap Options
  • Zilean: Double Mana, Deathcap
    • Any mana + AP will do
  • Lissandra: Mana, Archangle’s, Void Staff

    AD Options
  • Yunara: Infinity Edge, Rageblade, Kraken Slayer
  • Kindred: Death Blade, Rageblade, Kraken Slayer
  • Volibear: Sterak’s, BT
    • Any leftover AD or bruiser items will do

Level to 5 on 2-5 if you are strong, if not make econ (20)

Level to 6 on 3-2 and roll to stabilize. You just slowroll from here.

Level 7 by 4-5 if possible (after you get 3*)

Level 8 5-2 if possible

Conditions:

  • 2-1 Econ augment
  • Bard, Kobuko, Volibear unlock
  • Early Sion Orb
  • Strong Tank items early on
  • A Sion Artifact

How to Play: Data Explorer

  • Unlockables: Bard, Kobuko, Volibear
    • Bard: Roll 3 times before stage 2 carousel. This is best done by having an econ augment that provides rolls. Augments like calculated loss, epoch and trade sector are great direction for a bard game.
    • Kobuko: Field 6 Star levels in Bruisers, Yordles or Invokers at level 6. Will happen naturally when field 3 star Bruisers.
    • Volibear: Field a unit with 3400 or more HP at level 8. Will happen naturally as Sion scales up and you add bruisers.
  • Gameplan: Aim to unlock bard on 2-3 and 5 loss for item priority and free rolls from Bard. Roll aggressively on level 6 to stabilize around Sion 2 + Bard 2 and upgraded Bruisers. Every 3 star Bruiser scales up Bard.
    • Stage 1-2: Hold Bruisers and do not level. Make interest when you can and unlock Bard on 2-3.
    • Stage 3: Naturally level to 5 on 3-2 and roll aggressively for a strong board. Usually 4 Bruisers + Bard. If you have AD items you can consider Aphelios 3.
    • Stage 4: Roll until Sion 3 and Bard 3. Level to 7 as soon as possible for 6 bruiser. Zoe can be played if you are lacking shred.
    • Stage 5+: Level to 8 for Volibear. Go 9 for any utility legendary.
  • Tips:
    • This comp is very item hungry so take item augments.
    • This comp caps quite low compared to Ixtal Bard and should be considered from an Artifact spot instead as Sion performs well with them.

Item Holder: Bard, Sion

Items:

  • Bard: Mana, Archangel’s, Death Cap
    • 3x Archangel’s if Seraphim’s Staff Augment
  • Sion: The Darkin Aegis*, Spirit Visage, Dragon’s Claw

Conditions:

  • Strong Piltover Opener
  • Infinity Edge

How to Play: Video Guide | Explorer

  • Unlockables: T-Hex, Orianna
    • T-Hex: Field 7 Star levels of Piltover and be level 8.
    • Orianna: Field a Piltover unit with 2 items. Complete this early if you intend on playing Orianna early on, if not try to delay it so you don’t have to hold 2 gold on your bench.
  • Gameplan: Aim to unlock T-Hex by 4-3. You are likely to not be stable until you unlock T-Hex so prioritize this over anything else. Take econ augments to facilitate this.
    • Stage 1-2: Hold every Piltover unit. If you find an early Loris look to play 4 Piltover, otherwise play your strongest frontline along side an AD Carry, ideally Caitlyn, holding T-Hex items.
    • Stage 3: Continue to hold Piltover units and playing your strongest board. Set up for a 4-2 roll down that unlocks T-Hex
    • Stage 4: By 4-3 you should have T-Hex in, meaning the unlock was completed on 4-2. If you field T-Hex any later you are likely dead so aim for this as a base line. If you have BIS T-Hex and an upgraded frontline you should be stable till at least 5-1.
    • Stage 5+: Level to 9 as soon as possible and roll for T-Hex 2. The cap for this comp is 2 2-Star T-Hexes. Your final board will at most play 4 Piltover as you will drop low quality units such as Caitlyn and Vi for legendaries.
  • Tips:
    • Piltover Module priority-
      • 2: Electrical Overload > Blast Shields
      • 4: Magnetron Coil > Micro-Rockets
      • 6: If Ahead- Mining Drill > All
        • If Behind- Superior Life Form > Upgrade!
    • This Comp wins out if you get to 2 T-Hex 2s, take econ augments to get there.
    • IE is mandatory in this comp, T-Hex does no damage without it. Do not try to play this without spell crit. If you have enough items to make 2 IEs for both T-Hexes do so.
    • T-Hex’s beam does most damage to it’s primary target so starting on the weakside of enemy frontline is an easy way to get a lot of kills and save HP until you’re able to reach critical mass.

Conditions:

  • Double Trouble augment
  • Item augments
  • Diana Unlock

How to Play:

  • Unlockables: Diana
    • Diana: Field Leona 2 with 3 items at level 6. This will happen naturally as we roll for our board.
  • Gameplan:Play highly stated but traitless Targon units with double trouble. This comp doesn’t have to make any utility as Zoe shreds and Leona burns. Diana is a decent unit and fielding 2 of them covers both enemy corners making this comp hard to position against.
    • Stage 1-2: Find Double Trouble and play your strongest board
    • Stage 3: Ideally find an econ augment that makes it easy to have 3 Double Trouble pairs by 4-1. It is ideal to unlock Diana before 4-1.
    • Stage 4: Roll at level 7 for Leona 3 and Zoe 3. You are very strong on 2 Diana 1s.
    • Stage 5+: Level when possible and add high value units like Fiddlesticks. Otherwise try to play a 4th Double Trouble pair.
  • Tips:
    • This comp is very low cap but very safe as it will be strong on stage 3 and 4.
    • Don’t be afraid to go level 7 on 3-5 and roll for a board, it is very cheap to be strong on 2 1 star Targons with Double Trouble.

How to Play: Data Explorer

    • Diana: Field Leona 2 with 3 items at level 6 or higher. If you have BIS Diana you can consider rolling down for Leona 2 on level 7. Theives Gloves counts as 3 items
    • Bard: Roll 4 times before Stage 2 Carousel
    • Shurimans: If you find Azir early, you can cap out with Xerath>Renekton>Nasus
  • Gameplan:
    • Stage 1-2: Unlock Bard on Stage 2-3 by rolling 4 times. Play Bard (generally until Stage 4-2ish when you find something better to play) and get free rerolls. Lose Streak, get bow off carousel
    • Stage 3: Get to level 7 on 3-5 and roll for Leona 2* if you have at least 1 Leona OR good econ. If not, you might have to wait until 3-7.
    • Stage 4: Stabilize and win streak with Diana and then eventually level up to throw in random +1s. This board is very flexible and can use many of the ‘legendary combo pieces’
    • Stage 5+: Cap out with Shurima
  • Tips:
    • Diana is a threat, no real synergy helps her. Choose to play other units that donโ€™t require much synergy investment.
      • This comp is basically threat flex. Play support team wide traits. (Defender, Arcanist)
    • You absolutely need best in slot for Diana, QSS can replace Rage blade but it is noticeably worse and the only acceptable substitution for any item.
    • Keeping Leona can grief Dianaโ€™s targeting so you should drop her as soon as you find other suitable frontline.
    • Diana should always be put on the 3rd from the left or right hex (A3 or A5) to hit the corner units. If your opponents move away from the corner, front row in the center is fine
    • If you cannot get Bow, you can build AP items for Diana and then pivot to Azir/Xerath Shurima flex board

  • Uncontested

How to Play: Data Explorer

  • Unlockables: Tryndamere
    • Tryndamere: Play Ashe with 2 items. You can do this anytime, but earlier is obviously better. It doesn’t matter what type of items as you can always use an item remover later
  • Gameplan:
    • Stage 1-2: Get an early Ashe so that you can unlock Tryndamere earlier and get a chance to see him in your shop earlier
    • Stage 3: Go to level 6 on Stage 3-2 and roll down to stabilize at Ashe and Tryndamere 2*. Econ back up and slow roll
    • Stage 4: Find a time to all-in for 3*s. If you had econ/reroll augments/duplicators, do it earlier. After that, level up and add in more units. Any unit that functions as a threat will do. (Taric, Skarner, legendaries)
    • Stage 5+: Can slowly throw in legendaries onto your board
  • Tips:
  • There are 2 main builds on Tryndamere, both including QSS. QSS, IE Edge of Night or QSS BT Rageblade.
  • Radiants and Artifacts are insanely busted on Tryndamere as he’s a stat stick.

FAQ

  • How are compositions ranked?
    • There are many factors, but the two strongest ones are how often they can be played and how strong they are when you get it. Think of it like frequency of being played combined with how well it can potentially do.
    • I also rank them based on how often the best players in the world play each comp (top 10 players in major regions)
  • Why isn’t XYZ Comp here?
    • Probably not played enough, not strong enough, or maybe it hasn’t been discovered yet and will hopefully be added next week.
    • It’s also impossible to fit every single variation of every composition on a tier list, so expect variations of these comps to do well too.
    • I also add in different versions of different comps in the notes, so be sure to read through them! (For example, one synergy might have two different playstyles such as reroll or standard)
  • [Legendary Unit] carry is the best in the game, where is it?
    • It is not reliable to have a 5 cost carry as a composition because you will not be able to get a 2* Legendary consistently. There may be metas where there are ‘Fast 9’ comps, but these often use any legendary they can get instead of a specific one.
  • What does Difficulty, Item Dependency, and Variance mean?
    • Difficulty is how hard the composition is to play.  Difficulty does not factor into the strength or viability of the composition but serves as a factor for new players.
    • Item dependency is how important specific items are to the composition.
    • Variance is the approximate placement range of the composition.  For example, a consistent Top 4 composition has Low variance.  A composition that either places 1st or 8th has a High variance.
  • Does what composition I play matter?
    • No. Playing TFT well matters a lot more
  • I can’t get these exact items every game
    • You don’t need perfect items or exact items unless specified in the Requirements section. Most of the time you just need ‘playable’ items and not ‘best in slot’ (BIS)
  • You are wrong, XYZ comp should be in S tier and ABC player said this S tier comp sucks
    • Everyone has different opinions. I try to take a data based approach by analyzing games from the best players in each region to combine all their opinions.
    • At the end of the day, comp doesn’t matter much compared to just playing TFT well (rolling, managing econ, positioning, etc). If you check out the best players, you will see that each player favors different compositions yet they are all very highly ranked.
  • When is this site updated?
    • Every Friday
  • Where can I learn more?
    • There are many resources and players to learn from. I suggest starting at my YouTube channel and this website.

Knowing how to get better at TFT is much more important than knowing what compositions to play. Knowing how to play Teamfight Tactics will help you no matter what patch it is.

Tier placement assumes strong play.  Refer to Difficulty metric before attempting to play.
