A: Caitlyn, Ezreal,
B: Urf, Master Yi, Lee Sin, Aurelion Sol, Pengu, Veigar, Bard, Vladimir,
C: Draven, Tahm Kench,

All legends work, and the difference between the tiers is VERY LOW because you can just reroll the augment. Different legends fit different players as well. The better TFT player will do better with any legend. Check out the Legend Guide for more info.

For subrankings such as + and – tiers, check out my Patreon or OnlyFans (no NSFW images and the two sites will have the same info) where you will get precise rankings. Also you can DM for extra tips there 😉

Note that Items don’t really matter that much, so don’t grief your game to get specific items unless I mention a specific item is required.

Try out different types of positioning and champions in these comps too! There is a ton of variation in TFT so be sure to check out the Core units and then flex the rest of your team!

TFT Comps Tier List Set 9.5

S Tier: Best TFT Comps – Highly Flexible or Very Strong

Bilgewater

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.18 Meta Snapshot

Bilgewater has such a strong early game paired with certain OP augments that it has to be S tier

Difficulty: Medium
Item/Augment Dependence: Medium
Variance: Medium
Leveling Pattern: Standard

Requirements:

Item Holder: Cassiopeia, Kayle, Taliyah
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Best Legends:

How to Play:
You generally play Bilgewater with a Bilgewater opener, such as getting the trait active early. If you can get an early Miss Fortune it spikes the comp extremely hard, and if you can get good Nilah items the comp has the ability to scale into late game as well.

Items:

Core:

  • 5/7 Bilgewater

Augments:

Counters

Rogue Reroll

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.18 Meta Snapshot

Difficulty: Low
Item/Augment Dependence: Medium
Variance: Medium
Leveling Pattern: 2 Cost Reroll

Requirements:

Item Holder:
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Best Legends:

How to Play: Since this is primarily a 2 cost reroll comp (Qiyana is main carry), we should look to 3* our units at level 6 for the best odds. This means that we will build our economy until we hit level 6 and then roll down for 2* units to stabilzie our board. While rolling down for Qiyana, try to look for other 3* Rogues such as Katarina and Ekko. If you hit Qiyana 3* before the other Rogues, level to 7 to proceed to 3*.

Items:

  • Qiyana: Sterak’s Gage, Infinity Edge, Hand of Justice, Titan’s Resolve, Night Harvester
  • Katarina: Hand of Justice, Jeweled Gauntlet, Ionic Spark
  • Ekko: Hand of Justice, Jeweled Guantlet

Core:

  • 4 Rogue

Azir Flex

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.18 Meta Snapshot

Azir flex is a very popular route, probably the most consistent but is pretty hard to play

Difficulty: Medium
Item/Augment Dependence: Medium
Variance: Medium
Leveling Pattern: Standard

Requirements:

Item Holder: Cassiopeia, Kayle, Taliyah
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Best Legends: Ezreal, Urf, Poro

How to Play:
So unlike the vertical Shurima variant, this comp revolves around Azir + 4 Juggernaut. The other units are generally Strategist, but depending on what your items look like, a secondary carry could be either Nilah or Silco. Nilah if you get a lot of bows, and if you get Blue Buff/AP items just play Silco instead! Your early game is extremely flexible, as you can play any sort of backline units that can use attack speed or AP items, such as Cassiopieia + Noxus and/or Shurima, Samira + Challengers/Noxus, Milio + Demacia + Qiyana, etc.

Items:

  • Azir: Giant Slayer, Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Archangel Staff, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Jeweled Guantlet, Guardbreaker, Hextech Gunblade, Hand of Justice
  • Nasus: , Titan’s Resolve, Bloodthirster, Tank items
  • Nilah items: At least one Rapidfire Cannon (2 is preferred), Titan’s Resolve, Bloodthirster

Core:

  • 4 Juggernaut + Azir

A Tier: Solid TFT Team Comps. Weaker, less flexible, requires more luck than S-Tier

Shurima

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.18 Meta Snapshot

Shurima is similar to Set 9 Shurima, but the endgame now is usually 6 Shurima instead of 7, which is very playable even without a +1 Shurima Emblem.

Difficulty: Medium
Item/Augment Dependence: Medium
Variance: Medium
Leveling Pattern: Standard

Requirements:

Item Holder: Cassiopeia, Kayle, Taliyah
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Best Legends:

How to Play:
With Azir as an AP + Attack Speed based carry you can use basically any type of carry early on to carry his items. You can even use Samira/Cassiopeia + Noxus. Another easy route is Void Sorcerors early game. If you have a heavy Shurima start or you get an early Azir, you can look to pivot or commit to Shurima. Since it is a vertical (high # Synergy) comp, it is simple to play, just make sure you as many Shurima as you can. Make sure to play strongest board until you can reach your 6 Shurima.

Items:

  • Azir: Giant Slayer, Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Archangel Staff, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Jeweled Guantlet, Guardbreaker, Hextech Gunblade, Hand of Justice
  • Nasus: Thief’s Gloves, Titan’s Resolve, Bloodthirster, Tank items
  • Tank items on Shen

Core:

  • 6/9 Shurima

Sorcerers

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.18 Meta Snapshot

Lux was a better carry than Silco in this comp, as Silco requires a ton of frontline to do well and Sorcs are more known for upfront burst, not good frontline.

Difficulty: Medium
Item/Augment Dependence: Medium
Variance: Medium
Leveling Patterns: Standard

Requirements:

  • AP items

Item Holder: Malzahar, Cassiopeia, Vel’koz
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Sona > Jarvan
Best Legends: Ezreal

How to Play:
Since your carry is Silco, which is a 4 cost, you must learn to navigate the early game with an AP focused carry. That could be Malzahar, Cassiopeia, Vel’Koz, etc until you find a Silco. Try to play a strong board early game to get to level 7 safely. Otherwise, if your early board is weak, try to lose streak to build econ. At Stage 4-1, if your HP is low and you are not that rich, look to roll down for at least 1 Lux and 2* copies of your Sorceror units. Your late game should involve Silco and Ahri duo carry. This comp shines better with a Sorceror Spat that you could put on Azir, Shen or Jarvan.

Items:

  • Silco items: Blue Buff, Jeweled Guantlet, Guardbreaker, Hand of Justice, Archangel Staff, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Hextech Gunblade, Giant Slayer, Spear of Shojin
  • Ahri items: Blue Buff, Jeweled Guantlet, Guardbreaker, Hand of Justice, Archangel Staff, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Hextech Gunblade, Giant Slayer, Spear of Shojin
  • Tank items on Swain/Taric
  • Tank items on Jarvan

Core:

  • 6 or 8 Sorc

Augments:

Buried Treasures, Sorceror Crown, Sorceror Emblem, Magic Wand, Long Distance Pals, Healing Orbs, Unified Resistance, Pandora’s Items,

Vanquishers

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.18 Meta Snapshot

With Xayah Buffs and Nilah being strong with the right items, this comp is actually pretty good

Difficulty: Medium
Item/Augment Dependence: Medium
Variance: Medium
Leveling Pattern: Standard

Requirements:

  • Rapidfire Cannon for Nilah, AD items on Xayah

Item Holder: Jhin, Ashe
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Anyone
Best Legends: Twisted Fate, Poro,

How to Play:
Because this comp revolves around 4 cost carries, it is important to manage our econ and HP in a tactical manner early on. Generally the ideal AD lines still revolve around Samira Noxus or Jhin Ionia so learn to play around those lines to go to level 7 or 8 effectively.

Since Nilah specifically requires an RFC, it is a good idea to save bows if you’re looking to play for this comp.

Items:

  • Nilah items: Rapidfire Cannon, Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Giant Slayer, Deathblade, Hextech Gunblade
  • Xayah items: Last Whisper, Deathblade, Infinity Edge, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade
  • Tank items on Shen

Core:

  • 4 Vanquisher

Demacia

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.18 Meta Snapshot

7 Demacia seems to be really good because Fiora is a beast.

Difficulty: Low
Item/Augment Dependence: Medium
Variance: Medium
Leveling Pattern: Standard

Requirements:

Item Holder: Quinn, Rek’Sai, Qiyanna, Graves
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Best Legends: Urf, Master Yi

How to Play: Much like Void, Demacia comp is easier to play with a Demacia opener. Otherwise, you might have to be a bit more creative with your early game to pivot into it later. Early game, you can use a Noxus opener and use Samira/Darius/Kled to carry Fiora items. Make sure to hold Demacia units on the bench! Midgame you can then transition to a Demacia + Juggernaut board, for example. At level 7, try to find at least one Fiora. Any tank items can just go on Jarvan IV + Shen. Lategame, look to play 7 Demacia. If you get a bunch of Useful 5 costs like Heimerdinger and Aatrox, you can consider dropping down to 5 Demacia.

Items: **MAKE SURE YOUR CARRIES ONLY GET 2 ITEMS EACH SO THEY CAN GET A RADIANT ITEM FROM DEMACIA**

  • Fiora items: Bloodthirster, Titan’s Resolve, Hand of Justice, Giant Slayer
  • Quinn items: Last Whisper, Infinity Edge, Guinsoo’s Rageblade
  • Kayle items: Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Hextech Gunblade, Jeweled Gauntlet
  • Jarvan + Shen items: Tank items

Core:

  • 5/7 Demacia

Challengers

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.18 Meta Snapshot

Challengers is once again the most reliable 4 cost carry comp, but it does require pretty specific items.

Difficulty: Medium
Item/Augment Dependence: Medium
Variance: Medium
Leveling Pattern: Standard

Requirements:

Item Holder: Samira,
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Best Legends: Poro, Vlad

How to Play: Much like Challengers of Set 9, Challengers in Set 9.5 is a high tempo comp. It is important to establish a strong early game as you may not be able to beat out top comps that have infinite stall. However, if you can upgrade your carries early and can push a winstreak, this comp can do very well, especially if you have items for both Fiora and Kai’Sa. Early game boards could be typical Samira + Noxus, Jhin + Ionia or even Demacia opener.

Items:

  • Kai’Sa items: Spear of Shojin, Jeweled Guantlet, Guardbreaker, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Giant Slayer, Archangel’s Staff, Hextech Gunblade, Hand of Justice
  • Fiora items: Titan’s Resolve, Bloodthirster, Hand of Justice, Deathblade, Giant Slayer
  • Tank items on Jarvan

Core:

  • 4 Challenger 3 Demacia

Karma Reroll

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.18 Meta Snapshot

This is basically the same exact comp as Set 9!

Difficulty: Medium
Item/Augment Dependence: Medium
Variance: Medium
Leveling Pattern: 3 Cost Reroll

Requirements:

  • 3* Karma

Item Holder: Cassiopeia
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Ahri, Legendaries
Best Legends:

How to Play:
Since this is primarily a 3 cost reroll comp, our main objective is to go to level 7 either healthy and/or with good economy. Because we want 3* Karma, 3* Lissandra and ideally 3* Taric, we will need a lot of resources to help us hit our units.

Use Cassiopeia/Milio early game as your Karma item holder, and play flexibly around frontline/utilty units. You can play around Brawlers, Bastions, or whatever else early game and then pivot into the final board that you see above. 3* units are very important, so try to hit those before pushing level 8, unless you hit an early Ahri. In that case, you can push to go level 8.

Items:

  • Karma items: Hextech Gunblade, Hand of Justice, Archangel Staff, Giant Slayer, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Jeweled Guantlet,
  • Tank items on Taric, Shen, Galio

Core:

  • 6 Invoker

Augments: Golden Ticket, March of Progress, Loving Invocation, Magic Wand, Trade Sector, Pandora’s Items, Unified Resistance, Rolling for Days

Quinn Reroll

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.18 Meta Snapshot

Quinn can pop off but you need to hit the Quinn 3, Morde 2 and Fiora 2 to compete late game.

Difficulty: Medium
Item/Augment Dependence: Medium
Variance: Medium
Leveling Pattern: 3 Cost Reroll

Requirements:

Item Holder:
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Best Legends: N/A

How to Play:

Since this is primarily a 3 cost reroll comp, our main objective is to go to level 7 either healthy and/or with good economy. Because we want 3* Quinn and multiple 2* 4 costs, level 7 is the optimal level to roll.

Use Samira/Rek’Sai as your item holder until you find Quinn.

Items:

  • Quinn items: Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Last Whisper, Infinity Edge, Giant Slayer
  • Mordekaiser items: Titan’s Resolve, Jeweled Gauntlet, Hand of Justice, Giant Slayer, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Hextech Gunblade, Guardbreaker
  • Fiora items: Titan’s Resolve, Bloodthirster, Hand of Justice, Giant Slayer, Deathbalde
  • Jarvan items: Tank items

Noxus Reroll

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.18 Meta Snapshot

With the addition of Mordekaiser, Noxus stabilizes Stage 4 far harder because Morde is really strong at the moment

Difficulty: Low
Item/Augment Dependence: Medium
Variance: Medium
Leveling Pattern: 3 Cost Reroll

Requirements:

  • Early Noxus upgrades

Item Holder: Samira, Cassiopeia
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Noxus: Azir, Nasus Juggernaut: Katarina
Best Legends: Lee sin, Twisted Fate, Ornn

How to Play:
Noxus is a bit more reliant on having a strong Noxus opener because of the importance of securing stacks. If you can get stacks early it snowballs your game into a spot where you winstreak, gain a lot of econ and have a lot of safety rolling for your 3* Darius and Katarina. What’s nice about this comp is that you can split your AP and AD items amongst your duo carry, and the only real dependence this comp has is to play off of a Noxus opener. However, with the addition of Morde, Noxus seems to stabilize way better in Stage 4 with 2* Darius and Katarina so as long as Mordekaiser remains strong, this comp will be top tier. When you hit your 3* units, look to level to 8.

Items:

  • Katarina items: Jeweled Gauntlet, Hang of Justice, Guardbreaker, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade, Rabadon’s Deathcap,
  • Darius items: Titan’s Resolve, Bloodthirster, Last Whisper, Hand of Justice, Giant Slayer, Deathblade, Infinity Edge
  • Mordekaiser items: Titan’s Resolve, Jeweled Gauntlet, Hand of Justice, Giant Slayer, Bloodthirster, Rapidfire Cannon, Nashor’s Tooth, CrownGuard
  • Tank items on Sion

Core:

  • 5 Noxus

Gunners

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.18 Meta Snapshot

This comp is only really playable with early (2-1 or 2-2) Piltover. Otherwise, I’d avoid it

Difficulty: Medium
Item/Augment Dependence: Medium
Variance: Medium
Leveling Pattern:

Requirements:

  • AD items for Aphelios, Piltover Start

Item Holder:
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Best Legends: Poro, Ezreal, Ornn, Vlad

How to Play: You absolutely need Piltover to really play Aphelios/Gunners in a way to get him to perform well. This means you usually get a 3 cost Piltover unit off an early orb, find an ori in your shop and then get Vi in a Shop or through augments. Otherwise, you can get the 3 cost unit off of augments as well, as certain augments give a Jayce or an Ekko. You MUST lose streak until Stage 3-5 usually, so that means you have to make your board as weak as possible while having Piltover units in. Once you hit 3-5, you look to level to 7 to find upgrades for your Gunners and some frontline, like one Sejuani or a Taric 2/Shen. Once you cash out, look if you need to roll for additional upgrades so you don’t die. Once you’re stable, look to go level 8 for final board.

Items:

  • Aphelios items: Last Whisper, Infinity Edge, Runaan’s Hurricane, Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Deathblade, Giant Slayer, Guardbreaker
  • Additional AD items on Jayce
  • AP items on Gangplank
  • Tank items on Sejuani

Core:

  • 3 Piltover, 4 Gunner

Augments: Piltover Heart, Piltover Soul, Gunner Crown, Gunner Crest, Tiny Titan’s, Blood Money, Transfusion

B Tier: Playable, but not Preferred. These comps could be strong if uncontested.

Silco Aphelios Bastion

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.18 Meta Snapshot

A new variant of Bastion Aphelios, with Silco!

Difficulty: Medium
Item/Augment Dependence: Medium
Variance: Medium
Leveling Pattern: Standard

Requirements:

  • AD items for Aphelios, Vladimir legend

Item Holder: Jhin, Samira, Cassiopeia, Milio
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Anyone
Best Legends: Vladimir

How to Play: Since you’re taking Transfusion in the majority of scenarios when playing this comp, the default playstyle is to play for a 5 lose streak early game to start getting Transfusion value. If possible, try to hold onto Bastion units along the way, but if it’s necessary to sell them to secure a 5 loss, do so. By lose streaking, you can go for Bow off carousel as you need 2 of them to make Double Guinsoo’s Rageblade for Aphelios later on. Try to itemize for Silco as well, as he really requires a Blue Buff + some AP to be effective. When you reach level 7, you should roll for at least 1 Aphelios, 1 Shen, and 1 Silco. Because Bastion and Transfusion Health stalls while the Double Guinsoo’s scales, Ascension is the perfect augment to complement this comp. Ascension is almost required, especially with the nerfs to other combat augments.

Items:

  • Aphelios items: 2x Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Deathblade, Giant Slayer, Guardbreaker
  • Silco items: Blue Buff, Morellonomicon, Archangel Staff, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade
  • Tank items on Shen

Core:

  • 4/6/8 Bastion

Augments: Transfusion, Ascension, Bastion Crown, Bastion Crest

Naafiri Reroll

Item/Augment Dependence: Medium
Variance: Medium
Leveling Pattern: 2 Cost Reroll

Requirements:

  • 3* Naafiri

Item Holder:
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Best Legends:

How to Play:
Since this is primarily a 2 cost reroll comp, we should look to 3* our units at level 6 for the best odds. This means that we will build our economy until we hit level 6 and then roll down for 2* units to stabilzie our board. While rolling down for Naafiri, try to look for other 2 cost Juggernauts as well for efficiency, such as Sett and Warwick. If your econ is good, might as well try to get them 3* as well.

FAQ

  • How are compositions ranked?
    • There are many factors, but the two strongest ones are how often they can be played and how strong they are when you get it. Think of it like frequency of being played combined with how well it can potentially do.
    • I also rank them based on how often the best players in the world play each comp (top 10 players in major regions)
  • Why isn’t XYZ Comp here?
    • Probably not played enough, not strong enough, or maybe it hasn’t been discovered yet and will hopefully be added next week.
    • It’s also impossible to fit every single variation of every composition on a tier list, so expect variations of these comps to do well too.
    • I also add in different versions of different comps in the notes, so be sure to read through them! (For example, one synergy might have two different playstyles such as reroll or standard)
  • [Legendary Unit] carry is the best in the game, where is it?
    • It is not reliable to have a 5 cost carry as a composition because you will not be able to get a 2* Legendary consistently. There may be metas where there are ‘Fast 9’ comps, but these often use any legendary they can get instead of a specific one.
  • What does Difficulty, Item Dependency, and Variance mean?
    • Difficulty is how hard the composition is to play.  Difficulty does not factor into the strength or viability of the composition but serves as a factor for new players.
    • Item dependency is how important specific items are to the composition.
    • Variance is the approximate placement range of the composition.  For example, a consistent Top 4 composition has Low variance.  A composition that either places 1st or 8th has a High variance.
  • Does what composition I play matter?
    • No. Playing TFT well matters a lot more
  • I can’t get these exact items every game
    • You don’t need perfect items or exact items unless specified in the Requirements section. Most of the time you just need ‘playable’ items and not ‘best in slot’ (BIS)
  • You are wrong, XYZ comp should be in S tier and ABC player said this S tier comp sucks
    • Everyone has different opinions. I try to take a data based approach by analyzing games from the best players in each region to combine all their opinions.
    • At the end of the day, comp doesn’t matter much compared to just playing TFT well (rolling, managing econ, positioning, etc). If you check out the best players, you will see that each player favors different compositions yet they are all very highly ranked.
  • When is this site updated?
    • Every Friday
  • Where can I learn more?
    • There are many resources and players to learn from. I suggest starting at my YouTube channel and this website.

Knowing how to get better at TFT is much more important than knowing what compositions to play. Knowing how to play Teamfight Tactics will help you no matter what patch it is.

Tier placement assumes strong play.  Refer to Difficulty metric before attempting to play.
