All legends work, and the difference between the tiers is VERY LOW because you can just reroll the augment. Different legends fit different players as well. The better TFT player will do better with any legend. Check out the Legend Guide for more info.

For subrankings such as + and – tiers, check out my Patreon or OnlyFans (no NSFW images and the two sites will have the same info) where you will get precise rankings. Also you can DM for extra tips there 😉

Note that Items don’t really matter that much, so don’t grief your game to get specific items unless I mention a specific item is required.

Try out different types of positioning and champions in these comps too! There is a ton of variation in TFT so be sure to check out the Core units and then flex the rest of your team!

TFT Comps Tier List Set 9.5

S Tier: Best TFT Comps – Highly Flexible or Very Strong

Multicaster Reroll

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.20b Meta Snapshot

MULTICASTERS IS BY FAR THE STRONGEST COMP AND REQUIRES THE LEAST AMOUNT OF THOUGHT, POGGERS.

Leveling Pattern: 2 Cost Reroll

Requirements:

  • Pandora’s Items Augment

Item Holder: Twisted Fate, Taliyah, Galio
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Best Legends: Twisted Fate

How to Play: Coaching Gameplay
Since it’s a 2 cost reroll comp, we want to econ as much as possible Stage 2 to prepare to slowroll above 50g at level 6. If your board is weak with no upgrades, look to losestreak to build econ, but if your board is strong, you can even look to push the tempo and look to winstreak. A lot of times we want to level at 3-2 to stabilize a bit, usually meaning Twisted Fate 2*, Galio 2*, Taliyah 2* and then building econ back up to slowroll above 50g. At level 6 you should roll for Twisted Fate, Galio and even Taliyah 3* while holding as many copies of Vel’Koz and Sona as well. After you 3* your 2* units, look to go level 7 to add in Swain and finish 3*ing your Multicasters.

Items:

  • Twisted Fate items: Blue Buff, Jeweled Guantlet, Guardbreaker, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade, Adaptive Helm, Nashor’s Tooth, Hand of Justice, Spear of Shojin
  • Taliyah items: Blue Buff, Jeweled Guantlet, Guardbreaker, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade, Adaptive Helm, Nashor’s Tooth, Hand of Justice, Spear of Shojin, Statikk Shiv
  • Sona items: Spear of Shojin, Morellonomicon, Statikk Shiv, Jeweled Gauntlet, Rabadon’s Deathcap
  • Vel’Koz items: Blue Buff, Jeweled Guantlet, Guardbreaker, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade, Adaptive Helm, Nashor’s Tooth, Hand of Justice, Spear of Shojin, Statikk Shiv
  • Galio items: Warmogs, Gargoyle Stoneplate, Bramblevest, Dragon’s Claw, Protector’s Vow

Core:

  • 4 Multicaster 3 Demacia

Augments:

Pandora’s Items, Golden Ticket, Two Healthy, Perfected Repitition, Jeweled Lotus, Magic Wand, Lucky Gloves, Pandora’s Bench

Demacia

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.20b Meta Snapshot

7 Demacia seems to be really good, especially with a Demacia Crest. It is extremely reliant on a +1 Demacia, however, and if you get 2 Emblems, 9 Demacia is one of the strongest capouts in TFT currently.

Leveling Pattern: Standard

Requirements:

Item Holder: Quinn, Rek’Sai, Qiyanna, Graves
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Best Legends: Urf, Master Yi

How to Play: Much like Void, Demacia comp is easier to play with a Demacia opener. Otherwise, you might have to be a bit more creative with your early game to pivot into it later. Early game, you can use a Noxus opener and use Samira/Darius to carry Fiora items. Make sure to hold Demacia units on the bench! Midgame you can then transition to a Demacia + Juggernaut board, for example. At level 7, try to find at least one Fiora. Any tank items can just go on Jarvan IV + Shen. Lategame, look to play 7 Demacia. If you get a bunch of Useful 5 costs like Heimerdinger and Aatrox, you can consider dropping down to 5 Demacia.

Items: **MAKE SURE YOUR CARRIES ONLY GET 2 ITEMS EACH SO THEY CAN GET A RADIANT ITEM FROM DEMACIA**

  • Fiora items: Bloodthirster, Titan’s Resolve, Hand of Justice, Giant Slayer
  • Quinn items: Last Whisper, Infinity Edge, Guinsoo’s Rageblade
  • Kayle items: Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Hextech Gunblade, Jeweled Gauntlet
  • Jarvan + Shen items: Tank items

Core:

  • 5/7 Demacia

A Tier: Solid TFT Team Comps. Weaker, less flexible, requires more luck than S-Tier

Vertical Noxus

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.20b Meta Snapshot

This comp, along with Demacia, really wants a +1 Emblem.

Leveling Pattern:

Requirements:

Item Holder:
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Best Legends: Poro, Urf

How to Play:
This is best played if you get a +1 Noxus at 2-1. If you have a Samira and or Cassio 2* you should be able to winstreak pretty easily, and the whole concept of the comp is to build stacks early and then transition into Morde + Azir carry at level 7. It is pretty reliant on winstreaking, but if you get an early Swain and have upgraded units it’s basically a free top 4!

Most of the time if you get a +1 Noxus you play 7 Noxus, but once you get Heimerdinger you can drop down to 5 Noxus or keep 7 Noxus.

Items:

  • Mordekaiser items: Quicksilver, Nashor’s Tooth, Rapidfire Cannon, Hextech Gunblade, Giant Slayer, Guardbreaker
  • Azir items: Nashor’s Tooth, Hextech Gunblade, Giant Slayer, Guardbreaker, Guinsoo’s Rageblade
  • Swain items: Ionic Spark, Gargoyle Stoneplate, Sunfire Cape
  • Sion items: Tank items

Core:

  • 5 or 7 Noxus

Augments:

Noxus Crest, Ancient Archives, Noxus Crown, Jeweled Lotus, Dedication, Unified Resistance

Counters

Azir Flex

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.20b Meta Snapshot

Azir flex is a very popular route, probably the most consistent but is pretty hard to play
Leveling Pattern: Standard

Requirements:

Item Holder: Cassiopeia, Kayle, Taliyah
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Best Legends: Ezreal, Urf, Poro

How to Play:
So unlike the vertical Shurima variant, this comp revolves around Azir + 4 Juggernaut. The other units are generally Strategist, but depending on what your items look like, a secondary carry could be either Morde or Silco. Morde if you get a lot of bows, and if you get Blue Buff/AP items just play Silco instead! Your early game is extremely flexible, as you can play any sort of backline units that can use attack speed or AP items, such as Cassiopieia + Noxus and/or Shurima, Samira + Challengers/Noxus, Milio + Demacia + Qiyana, etc.

Items:

  • Azir: Giant Slayer, Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Archangel Staff, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Jeweled Guantlet, Guardbreaker, Hextech Gunblade, Hand of Justice
  • Nasus: , Titan’s Resolve, Bloodthirster, Tank items
  • Silco items: Blue Buff, Jeweled Guantlet, Guardbreaker, Archangel Staff, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Hextech Gunblade, Giant Slayer, Spear of Shojin, Hand of Justice
  • Mordekaiser items: Rapidfire Cannon, Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade, Nashor’s Tooth, Titan’s Resolve, Jeweled Gauntlet, Hand of Justice

Core:

  • 4 Juggernaut + Azir

Augments:

Jeweled Lotus, Living Forge, Portable Forge, Binary Airdrop, Tons of Stats, Long Distance Pals, Component Buffet, Young Wild and Free

Ashe Reroll

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.20b Meta Snapshot

Ashe reroll is really strong right now and is absurdly strong with an Ionia Spat! However, since it is a pretty niche comp, it’s getting removed from S tier for now.

Leveling Pattern: 2 Cost Reroll

Requirements:

  • Last Whisper

Item Holder: Jhin, Ashe
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Ashe
Best Legends: Poro, Urf

How to Play:
Since it’s a 2 cost reroll comp, we want to econ as much as possible Stage 2 to prepare to slowroll above 50g at level 6. If your board is weak with no upgrades, look to losestreak to build econ, but if your board is strong, you can even look to push the tempo and look to winstreak. A lot of times we want to level at 3-2 to stabilize a bit, usually meaning Ashe 2*, Sett 2*, Jhin 2* and then building econ back up to slowroll above 50g. Typically if you play for Ashe you want to play 4 Vanquishers, and if you hit an Ionia Emblem you can play 6 Ionia 4 Vanquisher as your endgame!

Items:

  • Ashe items: Last Whisper, Giant Slayer, Infinity Edge, Deathblade, Guardbreaker, Morellonomicon
  • Xayah items: Last Whisper, Deathblade, Infinity Edge, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade
  • Jhin items: Last Whisper, Deathblade, Infinity Edge, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade, Spear of Shojin
  • Sett items: Tank items

Core:

  • 4 Vanquisher and/or 6 Ionia

Augments:

Ionia Crest, Ionia Crown, Stolen Vitality, Vanquisher Crest, Trade Sector, Golden Ticket

Counters

Neeko Invokers

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.20b Meta Snapshot

This is a good comp if you hit early Neekos and/or Sorakas and have proper item components for it!

Leveling Pattern: 2 Cost Reroll

Requirements:

Item Holder: Soraka, Karma, Neeko, Taric
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Taric
Best Legends: Poro, Lee sin, Twisted Fate

How to Play: Even though we want Neeko and Taric 3*, we should look to roll for our units at level 6 for Soraka 3* This means that we will build our economy until we hit level 6 and then roll down for 2* units to stabilzie our board. While rolling down for Soraka try to look for as many copies of Neeko, Taric and Karma as well. After you hit Soraka 3*, level up to finish 3*ing Neeko and ideally Karma and Taric as well.

Items:

  • Soraka items: Archangel Staff, Hextech Gunblade, Spear of Shojin, Blue Buff, Guardbreaker
  • Neeko items: Titan’s Resolve, Bloodthirster, Redemption, Bramblevest, Hand of Justice, AP items
  • Taric items: Sunfire Cape, Ionic Spark, Redemption
  • Karma items: Archangel Staff, Jeweled Guantlet, Guardbreaker, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade, Adaptive Helm, Nashor’s Tooth, Hand of Justice, Blue Buff

Core:

Augments:

Double Trouble, Jeweled Lotus, Golden Ticket, Shopping Spree, Double Trouble, Trade Sector, Frequent Flier

Void Reroll

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.20b Meta Snapshot

Void reroll is pretty sleeper right now, leaving in A tier for now. This comp has potential to be top tier!
Leveling Pattern: 2 Cost Reroll

Requirements:

Item Holder:
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Best Legends:

How to Play: So the way you play Void reroll is similar to the way you play Rogues. That means you generally build your economy to level 5 to roll. You are supposed to play for Cho’Gath 3* first while having odds to hit the other Void units like Kassadin and Vel’Koz, so level 5 is a lot better than level 4 in that aspect. You play Stage 2 as if you were rolling for 1 costs, which means you should build your econ as much as possible. Then, during Stage 3, stay above 50g while rolling for Cho 3* and as many copies of Vel’Koz, Malzahar and Kassadin as possible. After you hit Cho 3, you actually should try to push to level 7 to find Kai’Sa to complete 6 Void, and roll for 3* Vel’Koz, Rek’Sai and Kassadin.

Items:

  • Cho’Gath items: Bramblevest, Dragon’s Claw, Redemption
  • Vel’Koz: Spear of Shojin, Jeweled Gauntlet, Guardbreaker, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade, Adaptive Helm, Nashor’s Tooth, Hand of Justice
  • Kassadin items: Ionic Spark, Sunfire Cape
  • Rek’Sai items: Titan’s Resolve, Bloodthirster, Hand of Justice, Sterak’s Gage, Night Harvester
  • Kai’Sa items: Spear of Shojin, Jeweled Gauntlet, Guardbreaker, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade, Adaptive Helm, Nashor’s Tooth, Hand of Justice

Core:

  • 6 Void

Augments:

Void Crest, Void Crown, Golden Ticket, Unstable Evolution, Trade Sector

Bilgewater Nilah

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.20b Meta Snapshot

This comp was lowkey S tier last patch but with the Nilah nerfs it’s still really good, just not the best.
Leveling Pattern: Standard

Requirements:

Item Holder: Cassiopeia, Samira, Jinx
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Best Legends: Twisted Fate

How to Play:
To play this you really need Pandora’s items to secure the double RFC for Nilah because without it, she griefs her positioning too much and can’t attack from safety. This means throughout Stage 2 and 3, you want to roll your Pandora’s into at least 3 Bows so that you can prepare for the double RFC in Stage 4, where you find Nilah. I wouldn’t greed entire items in the hopes of getting RFC/Giant Slayer. If normal item, you can let it become a tank or MF item, but if it’s a Radiant item, RFC/GS is best but you can settle for like Radiant Titan’s Resolve, Radiant Deathblade, Radiant Last Whisper, Radiant Gunblade, Radiant Bloodthirster, etc.

Items:

  • Nilah items: 2x RFC, Giant Slayer, Bloodthirster, Hextech Gunblade
  • Miss Fortune items: Blue Buff, Jeweled Gauntlet, Guardbreaker, Giant Slayer, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Spear of Shojin
  • Tank items on frontline

Core:

  • 3 Bilgewater 2 Freljord 2 Strategist

Augments:

Pandora’s items, Bilgewater Crest, Bilgewater Crown, Blinding Speed, Young Wild and Free, Component Buffet

CHO BITEM

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.20b Meta Snapshot

Cho has been nerfed several times and is just outside of S tier at the moment.

Difficulty: Low
Item/Augment Dependence: Medium
Variance: Medium
Leveling Pattern: 1 Cost Reroll

Requirements:

Item Holder: Cho’Gath, Cassiopeia, Renekton, Malzahar
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Best Legends: Ezreal, Urf, Poro

How to Play:
Since Cho’Gath is a 1 cost reroll comp, it is almost always recommended to roll to 30g at 3-1 at level 4 for as many copies of the Cho, Renekton and Cassiopeia/Malzahar as possible. Try to hold onto one Rek’Sai and one vi along the way, as your level 5 includes 4 Bruisers. Then, try to build your economy back up and slowroll at level 5 above 50 gold for your 3* units. The obvious highest priority 3* unit is Cho, but you might as well hold Renektons on the way. As for your backline carry, you have to option to play for either Cassiopeia or Malzahar 3*, or play for a 4 cost backline carry like Silco or Mordekaiser once you push levels. Your endgame should be 6 Bruisers, and a +1 Bruiser emblem or Heart is really good as you don’t need to have Sion to get it.

Items:

  • Cho’Gath items: Bramblevest, Dragon’s Claw, Redemption, Anima Visage (instead of Redemption) <— these items are non negotiable
  • Renekton items: Ionic Spark, Sunfire Cape, tank items
  • Cassiopeia/Malzahar/Silco items: Blue Buff, Jeweled Guantlet, Guardbreaker, Archangel Staff, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Hextech Gunblade, Giant Slayer, Spear of Shojin, Hand of Justice,
  • Mordekaiser items: Rapidfire Cannon, Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade, Nashor’s Tooth, Titan’s Resolve, Jeweled Gauntlet, Hand of Justice

Core:

  • 4/6 Bruiser

Augments:

Bruiser Crown, Bruiser Crest, Bruiser Heart, Trade Sector, Golden Ticket, Tiniest Titan, On a Roll, Frequent Flier, Martyr

Gunner Reroll Jinx Jayce

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.20b Meta Snapshot

With this comp you can either prioritize Jinx or Jayce, but typically you roll for both if you have the econ for it.
Leveling Pattern:

Requirements:

Item Holder: Cassiopeia, Kayle, Taliyah
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Best Legends:

How to Play:
So by default, especially with Robotic Arm, you play this comp around Jinx and especially when you get a +1 Gunner augment. Otherwise, you can look to play for Jayce and reroll him at level 7 if you get an early Jayce. For the default Jinx comp, since it’s a 2 cost reroll comp, we want to econ as much as possible Stage 2 to prepare to slowroll above 50g at level 6. If your board is weak with no upgrades, look to losestreak to build econ, but if your board is strong, you can even look to push the tempo and look to winstreak. 95% of the time we want to level at 3-2 to stabilize a bit, usually meaning Jinx 2*, and then building econ back up to slowroll above 50g. Typically if you play for Jinx you want to play 4 Zaun, and your frontline can also be Warwick and/or Vi 3*, or if you hit Jinx 3* way earlier than your frontline, you can push levels and play for 4 cost tanks like Sejuani, Shen, Jarvan, Nasus.

For the Jayce variant you econ up and roll at level 7 instead, as he is a 3 cost.

Items:

  • Jinx items: Last Whisper, Giant Slayer, Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Infinity Edge, Deathblade, Guardbreaker, Hextech Gunblade
  • Nasus: Thief’s Gloves, Titan’s Resolve, Bloodthirster, Tank items
  • Tank items on Shen

Core:

  • 4 Zaun or 4 Gunner

Vanquishers

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.20b Meta Snapshot

With Xayah Buffs and Nilah being strong with the right items, this comp is actually pretty good

Leveling Pattern: Standard

Requirements:

  • Rapidfire Cannon for Nilah, AD items on Xayah

Item Holder: Jhin, Ashe
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Anyone
Best Legends: Poro

How to Play:
Because this comp revolves around 4 cost carries, it is important to manage our econ and HP in a tactical manner early on. Generally the ideal AD lines still revolve around Samira Noxus or Jhin Ionia so learn to play around those lines to go to level 7 or 8 effectively.

Since this is by far the most contested comp this patch, it is important that we roll on 7 instead of trying to go 8 because if you try to greed to go level 8, most copies of Xayah and Nilah will be gone in any regular lobby.

Items:

  • Nilah items: Rapidfire Cannon, Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Giant Slayer, Deathblade, Hextech Gunblade, Guardbreaker, Titan’s Resolve
  • Xayah items: Last Whisper, Deathblade, Guardbreaker, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade, GIant Slayer, Hand of Justice
  • Tank items on Shen

  • 4 Vanquisher

Demonflare Swain

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.20b Meta Snapshot

Obviously only playable with Demonflare Augment!

Leveling Pattern: 2 Cost Reroll

Requirements:

Item Holder: Swain, Vel’Koz
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Jarvan, Sona
Best Legends: Poro, Twisted Fate

How to Play: Since this is primarily a 2 cost reroll comp, we should look to 3* our units at level 6 for the best odds. This means that we will build our economy until we hit level 6 and then roll down for 2* units to stabilzie our board. While rolling down for Swain, try to look for other Sorcs as well. This comp is extremely reliant on hitting Swain 3 because he is too fragile otherwise. If your econ is good, might as well try to get Vel’Koz 3* as well! Most of the time you are playing this comp with 6 Sorcs, and if you can’t feasibly get Vel’Koz 3*, just carry Silco and Ahri.

This comp is easily S tier if you get Swain 3*, but since Swain is run in multiple comps, it may be hard to 3* him.

Items:

  • Swain items: Bloodthirster, Titan’s Resolve, Hand of Justice, Hextech Gunblade, Redemption, Protector’s Vow, Crownguard
  • Vel’Koz items: Spear of Shojin, Jeweled Gauntlet, Guardbreaker, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade, Adaptive Helm, Nashor’s Tooth, Hand of Justice
  • Silco items: Blue Buff, Jeweled Guantlet, Guardbreaker, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade, Adaptive Helm, Nashor’s Tooth, Hand of Justice, Morellonomicon
  • Ahri items: Blue Buff, Jeweled Guantlet, Guardbreaker, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade, Adaptive Helm, Nashor’s Tooth, Hand of Justice

Core:

  • 6 Sorc

Augments:

Demonflare, Overcharged Manafront, Sorcerer Crown, Sorcerer Crest, Sorcerer Heart, Jeweled Lotus, Cybernetic Leech

THE BOSS

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.20b Meta Snapshot

Obviously only playable with The Boss Augment!

Leveling Pattern: 2 Cost Reroll

Requirements:

Item Holder: Swain, Vel’Koz
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Jarvan, Sona
Best Legends: Poro, Twisted Fate

How to Play: Since this is primarily a 2 cost reroll comp, we should look to 3* our units at level 6 for the best odds. This means that we will build our economy until we hit level 6 and then roll down for 2* units to stabilzie our board. While rolling down for Sett try to look for Ashe 3* as well. Unlike Demonflare, you can stabilize on Sett 2* and try to go up to find Xayah, but if you start getting a lot of copies of Sett you can sit at level 6 and roll for Sett 3*. Without Ionia Emblem, Xayah is going to be your primary carry. With an Emblem you can main carry Ashe.

Items:

  • Sett items: Bloodthirster, Titan’s Resolve, Hand of Justice, Gargoyle Stoneplate, Protector’s Vow, Jeweled Gauntlet
  • Ashe items: Morellonomicon, Last Whisper, Deathblade, Guardbreaker, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade, GIant Slayer, Hand of Justice
  • Xayah items: Last Whisper, Deathblade, Guardbreaker, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade, GIant Slayer, Hand of Justice
  • Ahri items: Blue Buff, Jeweled Guantlet, Guardbreaker, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade, Adaptive Helm, Nashor’s Tooth, Hand of Justice

Core:

  • 6 Ionia or 6 Juggernaut

Augments:

The Boss, Jeweled Lotus, Ionia Crest, Ionia Crown, Cybernetic Leech, Golden Ticket

Gunners

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.20b Meta Snapshot

This comp is only really playable with early (2-1 or 2-2) Piltover. Otherwise, I’d avoid it

Leveling Pattern:

Requirements:

  • AD items for Aphelios, Piltover Start

Item Holder:
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Best Legends: Poro, Ezreal, Ornn, Vlad

How to Play: You absolutely need Piltover to really play Aphelios/Gunners in a way to get him to perform well. This means you usually get a 3 cost Piltover unit off an early orb, find an ori in your shop and then get Vi in a Shop or through augments. Otherwise, you can get the 3 cost unit off of augments as well, as certain augments give a Jayce or an Ekko. You MUST lose streak until Stage 3-5 usually, so that means you have to make your board as weak as possible while having Piltover units in. Once you hit 3-5, you look to level to 7 to find upgrades for your Gunners and some frontline, like one Sejuani or a Taric 2/Shen. Once you cash out, look if you need to roll for additional upgrades so you don’t die. Once you’re stable, look to go level 8 for final board.

Items:

  • Aphelios items: Last Whisper, Infinity Edge, Runaan’s Hurricane, Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Deathblade, Giant Slayer, Guardbreaker
  • Additional AD items on Jayce
  • AP items on Gangplank
  • Tank items on Sejuani

Core:

  • 3 Piltover, 4 Gunner

Augments: Piltover Heart, Piltover Soul, Gunner Crown, Gunner Crest, Tiny Titan’s, Blood Money, Transfusion

Counters

Shurima

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.20b Meta Snapshot

In order for vertical Shurima to really ascend, you ideally want at least one +1 Shurima Emblem, that way you can drop at least one of the useless low cost Shurima trait bots.
Leveling Pattern: Standard

Requirements:

Item Holder: Cassiopeia, Kayle, Taliyah
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Best Legends:

How to Play:
With Azir as an AP + Attack Speed based carry you can use basically any type of carry early on to carry his items. You can even use Samira/Cassiopeia + Noxus. Another easy route is Void Sorcerors early game. If you have a heavy Shurima start or you get an early Azir, you can look to pivot or commit to Shurima. Since it is a vertical (high # Synergy) comp, it is simple to play, just make sure you as many Shurima as you can. Make sure to play strongest board until you can reach your 6 Shurima.

Items:

  • Azir: Giant Slayer, Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Archangel Staff, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Jeweled Guantlet, Guardbreaker, Hextech Gunblade, Hand of Justice
  • Nasus: Thief’s Gloves, Titan’s Resolve, Bloodthirster, Tank items
  • Tank items on Shen

  • 6/9 Shurima

Rogue Reroll

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.20b Meta Snapshot

Even with the Graves nerfs, Rogue reroll still seems to be performing pretty well!
Leveling Pattern: 2 Cost Reroll

Requirements:

Item Holder:
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Best Legends:

How to Play: So the way you play Rogues nowadays is not to level to 6 to roll for Qiyana priority, but rather at level 5 first. You are supposed to play for Graves 3* first while having odds to hit the other Rogues, so level 5 is a lot better than level 4 in that aspect. You play Stage 2 as if you were rolling for 1 costs, which means you should build your econ as much as possible. Then, during Stage 3, stay above 50g while rolling for Graves 3* and as many copies of Qiyana, Ekko and Katarina as possible. After you hit Graves 3, level to 6 to finish rolling for Qiyana 3* and as many copies of other Rogues as possible. After you hit Qiyana, level to 7 and roll for Katarina and Ekko 3*.

Items:

  • Graves items: Sterak’s Gage, Bloodthirster, Titan’s Resolve, Night Harvester
  • Qiyana: Sterak’s Gage, Infinity Edge, Hand of Justice, Titan’s Resolve, Night Harvester
  • Katarina: Hand of Justice, Jeweled Gauntlet, Ionic Spark, AP items, Thief’s Gloves
  • Ekko: Hand of Justice, Jeweled Guantlet, AP items, Thief’s Gloves

Core:

  • 4 Rogue

Augments:

Rogue Crown, Rogue Crest, Vampiric Blades, Double Trouble, Golden Ticket, Idealism, Trade Sector, Harmacist

Sorcerers

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.20b Meta Snapshot

Sorcs are really good this patch as Silco is very strong. Your consistent max cap actually revolves around Vel’Koz 3* if you can get it, as Ahri 2 is not consistent and not as strong as Velkoz 3* to be honest!
Leveling Patterns: Standard

Requirements:

  • AP items

Item Holder: Malzahar, Cassiopeia, Vel’koz
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Sona > Jarvan
Best Legends: Ezreal

How to Play:
Since your carry is Silco, which is a 4 cost, you must learn to navigate the early game with an AP focused carry. That could be Malzahar, Cassiopeia, Vel’Koz, etc until you find a Silco. Try to play a strong board early game to get to level 7 safely. Otherwise, if your early board is weak, try to lose streak to build econ. At Stage 4-1, if your HP is low and you are not that rich, look to roll down for at least 1 Silco and 2* copies of your Sorceror units, especially Swain and Vel’Koz. Your late game should involve Silco and Ahri duo carry. This comp shines better with a Sorceror Spat that you could put on Azir, Shen or Jarvan.

You can absolutely play for Vel’Koz 3* if you have the HP/econ to go for it, as he is very strong as a carry. Best Ornn items for both Silco/Vel’koz are Manazane and Deathfire’s Grasp (heavy emphasis on Manazane). Zhonya’s works too.

Items:

  • Silco items: Blue Buff, Jeweled Guantlet, Guardbreaker, Archangel Staff, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Hextech Gunblade, Giant Slayer, Spear of Shojin, Hand of Justice,
  • Vel’Koz items: Spear of Shojin, Jeweled Guantlet, Guardbreaker, Archangel Staff, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Hextech Gunblade, Giant Slayer, Blue Buff
  • Ahri items: Blue Buff, Jeweled Guantlet, Guardbreaker, Hand of Justice, Archangel Staff, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Hextech Gunblade, Giant Slayer, Spear of Shojin
  • Tank items on Swain/Taric
  • Tank items on Jarvan

Core:

  • 6 or 8 Sorc

Silco Aphelios Bastion

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.20b Meta Snapshot

A new variant of Bastion Aphelios, with Silco!

Leveling Pattern: Standard

Requirements:

  • AD items for Aphelios, Vladimir legend

Item Holder: Jhin, Samira, Cassiopeia, Milio
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Anyone
Best Legends: Vladimir

How to Play: Since you’re taking Transfusion in the majority of scenarios when playing this comp, the default playstyle is to play for a 5 lose streak early game to start getting Transfusion value. If possible, try to hold onto Bastion units along the way, but if it’s necessary to sell them to secure a 5 loss, do so. By lose streaking, you can go for Bow off carousel as you need 2 of them to make Double Guinsoo’s Rageblade for Aphelios later on. Try to itemize for Silco as well, as he really requires a Blue Buff + some AP to be effective. When you reach level 7, you should roll for at least 1 Aphelios, 1 Shen, and 1 Silco. Because Bastion and Transfusion Health stalls while the Double Guinsoo’s scales, Ascension is the perfect augment to complement this comp. Ascension is almost required, especially with the nerfs to other combat augments.

Items:

  • Aphelios items: 2x Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Deathblade, Giant Slayer, Guardbreaker
  • Silco items: Blue Buff, Morellonomicon, Archangel Staff, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade
  • Tank items on Shen

Core:

  • 4/6/8 Bastion

Augments: Transfusion, Ascension, Bastion Crown, Bastion Crest

Noxus Reroll

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.20b Meta Snapshot

Noxus reroll was really good last patch but the Samira nerfs actually made this comp semi weak, especially late game.
Leveling Pattern:

Requirements:

  • Early Noxus upgrades

Item Holder: Samira, Cassiopeia
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Noxus: Azir, Nasus Juggernaut: Katarina
Best Legends: Lee sin, Twisted Fate, Ornn

How to Play: Since Noxus is primarily a 1 cost reroll comp, it is almost always recommended to roll to 30g at 3-1 at level 4 for as many copies of the Samira, Cassiopeia and Swain as possible. Naafiri is the least important 3* of the comp, and I would only recommend holding onto additional copies beyond 2* after you hit your other units. After your 3-1 rolldown, try to build your economy back up and slowroll at level 5 above 50 gold for your 3* units. The obvious highest priority 3* unit is Samira, but Cassiopeia and Swain are important as well. After you hit, try to econ back up and then level to 7 for MordeKaiser, who will generally be your 3rd carry. Your endgame should be 5 Noxus + important 5 costs like Aatrox and Heimer or 7 Noxus if you can’t find them.

Items:

  • Samira items: Blue Buff, Spear of Shojin, Infinity Edge, Giant Slayer, Deathblade, Hextech Gunblade, Guard Breaker, Bloodthirster, Edge of Night
  • Cassiopeia items: Blue Buff, Spear of Shojin Jeweled Gauntlet, Hand of Justice, Guardbreaker, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade, Rabadon’s Deathcap
  • Mordekaiser items: Rapidfire Cannon, Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Titan’s Resolve, Jeweled Gauntlet, Hand of Justice, Giant Slayer, Bloodthirster, Nashor’s Tooth, CrownGuard
  • Tank items on Swain

Core:

  • 5/7 Noxus

B Tier: Playable, but not Preferred. These comps could be strong if uncontested.

Karma Reroll

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.20b Meta Snapshot

This is basically the same exact comp as Set 9! Issue with this comp is it needs to highroll to perform well in the current meta.

Leveling Pattern: 3 Cost Reroll

Requirements:

  • 3* Karma

Item Holder: Cassiopeia
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Ahri, Legendaries
Best Legends:

How to Play:
Since this is primarily a 3 cost reroll comp, our main objective is to go to level 7 either healthy and/or with good economy. Because we want 3* Karma, 3* Lissandra and ideally 3* Taric, we will need a lot of resources to help us hit our units.

Use Cassiopeia/Milio early game as your Karma item holder, and play flexibly around frontline/utilty units. You can play around Brawlers, Bastions, or whatever else early game and then pivot into the final board that you see above. 3* units are very important, so try to hit those before pushing level 8, unless you hit an early Ahri. In that case, you can push to go level 8.

Items:

  • Karma items: Hextech Gunblade, Hand of Justice, Archangel Staff, Giant Slayer, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Jeweled Guantlet,
  • Tank items on Taric, Shen, Galio

Core:

  • 6 Invoker

Augments: Golden Ticket, March of Progress, Loving Invocation, Magic Wand, Trade Sector, Pandora’s Items, Unified Resistance, Rolling for Days

Challengers

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.20b Meta Snapshot

Fiora and Kai’sa did get buffed this patch, so Challengers might be slightly back!
Leveling Pattern: Standard

Requirements:

Item Holder: Samira,
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Best Legends: Master Yi, Ornn, Poro

How to Play: Much like Challengers of Set 9, Challengers in Set 9.5 is a high tempo comp. It is important to establish a strong early game as you may not be able to beat out top comps that have infinite stall. However, if you can upgrade your carries early and can push a winstreak, this comp can do very well, especially if you have items for both Fiora and Kai’Sa. Early game boards could be typical Samira + Noxus, Jhin + Ionia or even Demacia opener.

Items:

  • Kai’Sa items: Spear of Shojin, Jeweled Guantlet, Guardbreaker, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Giant Slayer, Archangel’s Staff, Hextech Gunblade, Hand of Justice
  • Fiora items: Titan’s Resolve, Bloodthirster, Hand of Justice, Deathblade, Giant Slayer
  • Tank items on Jarvan

Core:

  • 4 Challenger 3 Demacia

Augments:

Living Forge, Portable Forge, Jeweled Lotus, Binary Airdrop, Social Distancing, Gifts of the Fallen, Long Distance Pals, Tons of Stats, Component Buffet, Challenger Heart, Challenger Crest, Challenger Crown

Naafiri Reroll

TFT Set 9.5 Tier List - Patch 13.20b Meta Snapshot

DOG REROLL

Leveling Pattern: 2 Cost Reroll

Requirements:

  • 3* Naafiri

Item Holder:
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Best Legends:

How to Play:
Since this is primarily a 2 cost reroll comp, we should look to 3* our units at level 6 for the best odds. This means that we will build our economy until we hit level 6 and then roll down for 2* units to stabilzie our board. While rolling down for Naafiri, try to look for other 2 cost Juggernauts as well for efficiency, such as Sett and Warwick. If your econ is good, might as well try to get them 3* as well.

FAQ

  • How are compositions ranked?
    • There are many factors, but the two strongest ones are how often they can be played and how strong they are when you get it. Think of it like frequency of being played combined with how well it can potentially do.
    • I also rank them based on how often the best players in the world play each comp (top 10 players in major regions)
  • Why isn’t XYZ Comp here?
    • Probably not played enough, not strong enough, or maybe it hasn’t been discovered yet and will hopefully be added next week.
    • It’s also impossible to fit every single variation of every composition on a tier list, so expect variations of these comps to do well too.
    • I also add in different versions of different comps in the notes, so be sure to read through them! (For example, one synergy might have two different playstyles such as reroll or standard)
  • [Legendary Unit] carry is the best in the game, where is it?
    • It is not reliable to have a 5 cost carry as a composition because you will not be able to get a 2* Legendary consistently. There may be metas where there are ‘Fast 9’ comps, but these often use any legendary they can get instead of a specific one.
  • What does Difficulty, Item Dependency, and Variance mean?
    • Difficulty is how hard the composition is to play.  Difficulty does not factor into the strength or viability of the composition but serves as a factor for new players.
    • Item dependency is how important specific items are to the composition.
    • Variance is the approximate placement range of the composition.  For example, a consistent Top 4 composition has Low variance.  A composition that either places 1st or 8th has a High variance.
  • Does what composition I play matter?
    • No. Playing TFT well matters a lot more
  • I can’t get these exact items every game
    • You don’t need perfect items or exact items unless specified in the Requirements section. Most of the time you just need ‘playable’ items and not ‘best in slot’ (BIS)
  • You are wrong, XYZ comp should be in S tier and ABC player said this S tier comp sucks
    • Everyone has different opinions. I try to take a data based approach by analyzing games from the best players in each region to combine all their opinions.
    • At the end of the day, comp doesn’t matter much compared to just playing TFT well (rolling, managing econ, positioning, etc). If you check out the best players, you will see that each player favors different compositions yet they are all very highly ranked.
  • When is this site updated?
    • Every Friday
  • Where can I learn more?
    • There are many resources and players to learn from. I suggest starting at my YouTube channel and this website.

Knowing how to get better at TFT is much more important than knowing what compositions to play. Knowing how to play Teamfight Tactics will help you no matter what patch it is.

Tier placement assumes strong play.  Refer to Difficulty metric before attempting to play.
