TFT Comps Set 15 Tier List – Patch 15.9 Meta Snapshot

Video Guides at YouTube

Meta Snapshot Summary

Fast 9 is still very good, Lee Sin nerfs lowered the cap but he is still very strong.
5 Crystal Gambit nerfs have made it slower and harder to pull off.
Most 4 cost lines are very strong if you have a strong opener for them.

Conditions:

  • Early Malzahar with any Mana item slam
  • Blighting Jewel makes this comp S tier
  • Enough Econ for Malzahar 3 and Darius 3
  • Noxious Trap Power Up
  • Double Trouble makes this the best comp in the game

Item Holder: Syndra, Malzahar, Kobuko, Zac
Power Ups: Malzahar (Noxious Trap) Darius (Rocket Grab > Not Done Yet > Bludgeoner > Classy)
If Double Trouble: Malzahar (Noxious Trap) Rammus (Bestest Boy > Tank-Zilla)

How to Play: Explorer

This is a standard 3 cost reroll comp that stabilizes on level 7. Malzahar’s damage directly scales with how long the fight last so prioritize tank items heavily after Malzahar items. Darius is an amazing secondary carry that should be placed on the same side as Malzahar as he will help spread Malzahar’s virus more efficiently by killing the first target he ults. Darius can use a plethora of items and basically any bruiser item on him will do in this set up as he is much more of a secondary carry in this set as opposed to a primary carry. If you have the choice to pick one item on him, I would prioritize Giant Slayer. With Noxious Trap we can omit making Morello and Void Staff allows us to build more damage.

If you have Double Trouble aim to find 4 copies of Malzahar, Rammus and Darius on 4-1. This is one of the strongest stage 4 boards in the game at the moment. Prioritize 3 Malzahar items, then 3 Rammus items while Darius takes all the awkward left over AD items.

Items:

  • Malzahar: Blue Buff/Shojin/Adaptive Rabadon’s Deathcap, Jeweled Gauntlet
    • Blighting Jewel > Manazane > Zhonya’s Paradox> Dawncore
  • Poppy: Generic Tank
  • Rammus: Protector’s Vow, Generic Tank
  • Darius: Giant Slayer, Infinity Edge, Bloodthirster
    • Sterak’s Gage, Spectral Cutlass

Requirements:

  • Enough money to hit level 9
  • Access to high resources from Crystal Gambit or portal
  • Good Bruiser items

Item Holder: Naafiri, Mechablades Aatrox, Gnar, Any Juggernaut, Any Rageblade Holder
Power Ups: Twisted Fate (Noxious Trap) Lee Sin (Unflinching > Warming Up)

How to Play:

  • The easiest way to fast 9 at the moment is to play winstreak until 3-6 and then put in 3 Crystal Gambit, double down once and cash out on 4-6. This is best done from 85+ HP on 3-6. This means do not be afraid to slam whatever you have to save sufficient HP to pull this off.
  • Do not build utility items in this comp as Noxious Trap fruit on TF provides us with anti-heal, sunder and shred.
  • This comp is best played from Guinsoo’s Rageblade opener or Bruiser item slams. Naafiri 2 with Sterak’s Gage is a great stage 2 for this comp. Unlike Bastion Fast 9 we want higher quality such as good Lee Sin items.
  • If you are rich enough try to do some of your rolldown on 4-6 as fruiting and fruit removering takes up a lot of time and you are very likely around 20 HP or two lives. Even if you end up with lower gold the extra life will give you a lot more room to manuever with.
  • Your wincondition is Lee Sin 2 who is both incredibly tanky and deals a lot of damage to single targets which TF struggles against and TF 2 who gives us enough consistent damage to close out fights.

Items:

  • Twisted Fate: Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade
    • Kraken Slayer, Deathblade, Striker’s Flail
  • Lee Sin: Sterak’s Gage, Infinity Edge, Hand of Justice, Giant Slayer, Deathblade
  • Braum: Generic Bruiser items, Sterak’s Gage, Theif’s Gloves, Protector’s Vow
  • Sett: Generic tank items
  • Zyra: Spear of Shojin/Blue Buff/Adaptive, Leftover AP

  • Access to high resources from Crystal Gambit or portal

Item Holder: Syndra, Ezreal, Garen, Rell, Any Bastion, Any Rageblade Holder
Power Ups: Twisted Fate (Noxious Trap) Seraphine (Mage)

How to Play:

  • The easiest way to fast 9 at the moment is to play winstreak until 3-6 and then put in Crystal Gambit, double down once and cash out on 4-6. This is best done from 85+ HP on 3-6. This means do not be afraid to slam whatever you have to save sufficient HP to pull this off.
  • Do not build utility items in this comp as Noxious Trap fruit on TF provides us with anti-heal, sunder and shred.
  • This comp uses every backline item as TF’s items are quite flexible as long as they grant attack speed and Seraphine gets damage from any source of stats. It is ok to slam Bruiser items as Braum uses them very well. Item priority is TF > Frontline = Sera > Braum. Focus on making 3 items for 1 unit first.
  • If you are rich enough try to do some of your rolldown on 4-6 as fruiting and fruit removering takes up a lot of time and you are very likely around 20 HP or two lives.
  • Your winconditions are TF 2 and Seraphine 2 with enough frontline to allow Mage Seraphine to cast and wipe the board along with TF’s consistent AoE damage.

Items:

  • Twisted Fate: Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Giant Slayer, Hextech Gunblade
    • Kraken Slayer, Deathblade, Striker’s Flail
  • Seraphine: Mana item, Any damage amp item or item that gives a high amount of stats
    • Theif’s Gloves

  • Artifacts make this comp S Tier
    • Prowler’s Claw, Spectral Cutlass > Death’s Defiance, Titanic Hydra, Infinity Force

Item Holder: Darius, Naafiri
Power Ups: Darius (Fusion Dance), Jayce (Classy)

How to Play: Explorer

The Fusion Dance power up is required on Darius for this comp to function. With Heavyweight’s health to AD conversion eating another Heavyweight unit gives us an insane amount of stats. Classy is by far the second best power up we can find as it increases Jayce’s stats which in turn increases Darius’ stats. Jayce’s itemization should be raw stats for Darius to eat, item’s like Warmog’s Armor and Deathblade are the most efficient If you miss on Classy Jayce take a generic tank or utility fruit on Poppy instead. This comp is a one man army and everything should be focused on making Darius as strong as possible. You want to position on the weak side of enemy frontline to get as many resets as possible with Darius’ ability. After you 3 star Darius and Jayce level and put in more Supreme Cell units to continue to buff your Darius.

Items:

  • Darius: Infinity Edge, Hand of Justice, Sterak’s Gage

  • Prioritize heavy damage items on Karma and Volibear. The mech is most of your frontline.

Item Holder: Xayah, Syndra, Ezreal, Rell
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Star Guardian (Braum, K’Sante, Kobuko)
Power Ups: Poppy (Body Change > Unstoppable), Jinx (Gather Force > Super Mega)

How to Play: Explorer | Gameplay

  • This is a normal fast 8 comp and it is very important to be strong on stage 4. Roll aggressively for your 2 star 4 cost upgrades so you have enough HP to leverage to reach level 9.
  • This comp has been optimized to drop many Star Guardians for stronger higher cost units. We can flex between Kobuko, Volibear, Braum, Varus and K’Sante. The non droppable Star Guardians are Rell, Neeko, Jinx, Poppy and Seraphine.
  • Xayah’s Star Guardian bonus is very strong in stage 4 but after nerfs falls off and is no longer core to this comp. Look to drop her for any of the units listed above if upgraded. She is still a great holder for utility items if you do not have anyone else.
  • Seraphine 2 is the highest cap and if you find her keeping Syndra on the board is an option if you don’t have anything better.
  • It is easier to find your desired power up if you bench all of your other Star Guardian units before using your power up. This removes Star Sailor from the pool of possible power ups.
  • If you have Keepers go for Unstoppable on Poppy and clump all of your units around her.

Items:

  • Poppy: Gargoyle’s Stoneplate, Steadfast Heart, Spirit Visage, Generic Tank
    • Shielding items get extra value from Neeko’s Star Guardian bonus.
  • Jinx: Infinity Edge, Giant Slayer, Spear of Shojin
    • Last Whisper, Red Buff, Striker’s Flail, Kraken’s Fury, Guinsoo’s Rageblade

Level 7 by 4-5 if possible (after you get 3*)

Level 8 5-2 if possible

Conditions:

  • Lots of Katarinas
  • Radiant and Artifact items make this comp a lot more powerful
  • A Scaling Power Up goes a long way

Item Holder:
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Battle Academia (Ryze)
Power Ups: Katarina (Over 9000 > Max Arcana > Not Done Yet > Weights), Rakan (Unstoppable)

How to Play:
This is a standard level 6 reroll comp. We look for copies of Katarina and Rakan and build around the idea of making our Katarina reach the enemy backline and end the fight that way. Positioning is very important so being on the same side as enemy carries is key to get her to target them before being stuck on a tank. It is important to be aware of players with the Unstoppable power up as they can mess up her targeting. After we hit Katarina 3 and Rakan 3 we need to level as soon as possible and play 7 Battle Academia and put excess AP items on Yuumi. It is incredibly important to reach level 8 with this comp and fit 7 Battle Academia and 2 Executioner.

Items:

  • Katarina: Edge of Night, Hand of Justice, Striker’s Flail, Nashor’s Tooth
    • Radiant Hand of Justice, Radiant Gunblade, Dawncore, Zhonya’s Paradox
  • Rakan: Warmog’s Armor, Protector’s Vow, Steadfast Heart

Item Holder:
Power Ups: Xayah (Doublestrike > Sky Piercer if no Sunder) Shen (Body Change > Inner Fire if no Burn/Wound)

How to Play:
This is a standard 2 cost reroll comp. On 3-2 look to stabilize around Xayah 2 and 2 star bastions. It is very important to stabilize hard in stage 3 and save HP as one of the advantages of this comp is the high tempo we get from Xayah 2 and upgraded bastions in the mid game. BIS is a priority in this comp as most of our board is front line and Xayah has to have enough damage to shred through strong boards in stage 4.

This version of Xayah reroll is much stronger than Fan Service after the nerfs to both the Power Up and Rakan.

Conditions:

  • Soul Fighter opener or Tournament Favorites Augment
  • Swords/Gloves early
  • Soul Fighter Emblem on Volibear

Item Holder:
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Volibear > Braum
Power Up: Samira (On The Edge > Shadow Clone) Sett (Round Two > Stand Alone) Emblem Volibear (Serious Slam > Bludgeoner)

How to Play:

  • This is a standard fast 8 comp that aims to spike hard on 4-2. Stage 4 is your strength window so make sure to roll aggressively till you are strong. Aim to win 4/5 fights in stage 4 if possible. This comp gets out scaled by Fast 9, Crystal Gambit Ashe and Star Guardians so these stage 4 fights are critical.
  • If you do not have emblem play 6 Soul Fighters plus supporting units. Volibear is the most commonly played along side Braum if you find him on 8. Other options are Shen, Udyr, Zyra and Juggernaut Lee Sin.
  • It is incredibly important to have 3 item Sett and 3 item Samira to secure stage 4 strength. Your board will crumble if you don’t have enough frontline with 3 item Sett and you won’t have enough damage to close fights without 3 item Samira.
  • Gwen can cap decently high but she is not as strong as other 2 star 5 cost like Lee Sin and TF set ups. Prioritize Gwen items after you’ve completed Sett and Samira.
  • Volibear holds excess AD items incredibly well and is worth investing in before Gwen unless you have a realistic way to reach Gwen 2. Volibear is the best holder of Soul Fighter emblem, Yone is understated and it is not worth it to playing for Yone 2.
  • Unless you have an emblem 6 Soul Fighter plus supporting units will cap higher than 8 Soul Fighter due to the low quality of units such as Kalista and Viego later on into the game.
  • Sett is positioned solo frontline to allow all the other Soul Fighter units to scale up and deal damage as the trait provides a lot of stats.

Items:

  • Samira: Infinity Edge, Spear of Shojin/Blue Buff
    • Last Whisper, Giant Slayer, Deathblade, Striker’s Flail
  • Sett: Generic Tank
  • Volibear: Soul fighter Emblem, Edge of Night, Sterak’s Gage, Infinity Edge, Kraken Slayer
    • Generic Bruiser
  • Gwen: Sniper’s Focus, Edge of Night, Jeweled Gauntlet, Hand of Justice
    • Rabadon’s Deathcap, Bloodthirster, Blue Buff, Morellonomicon, Void Staff, Giant Slayer, Red Buff

Augments:
Trait >>> Items > Items > Econ

Soul Fighter Emblem is the best augment we can hit in this comp as it allows us to play 8 Soul Fighter on 4-2 immediately. We are a vertical and don’t cap out the highest unless we win 10 combats.

Conditions:

  • Strong early game tempo (Mech Opener)
  • Econ augments to hit Ryze 2
  • Item augments to play around multiple carries.

Item Holder: Lucian, Naafiri
Power Ups: Ryze (Efficient > Ice Bender > Sky Piercer if missing Shred/Sunder), Volibear (Serious Slam > Unflinching)

How to Play:
This comp aims to abuse the incredible single target damage available from Volibear and Ryze. We want to position Ryze on the same side as Volibear to allow for Serious Slam and Volibear passive resets to carry a fight. It is incredibly important to plan around having 3 item Volibear on stage 4. It is relatively easy to find Volibear 2 as opposed to Ryze 2 as Ryze is contested by not just fast 8 players but reroll players as well so we aim to be stable on Volibear 2. This means AD items go up in priority in this comp as opposed to the past. This comp is very item hungry and is a great option to play from a Crystal Gambit cash out as it can leverage those extra resources very well. Ryze can use almost any AP item so be willing to slam whatever you have. Play for Ice Bender if you have a scaling item like Archangel’s Staff made and Efficient if you have raw AP like Rabadon’s Deathcap.

Items:

  • Ryze: Rabadon’s Deathcap, Nashor’s Tooth, Jeweled Gauntlet
    • Archangel’s Staff, Void Staff
  • Volibear: Infinity Edge, Sterak’s Gage, Striker’s Flail

Requirements:

  • At least 2 Kraken Slayers
  • Enough money to find Ashe 2 on 4-1
  • Solid frontline items
  • A very strong stage 4 set up

Item Holder: Gnar, Naafiri, Garen, Rell, Mundo
Power Ups: Ashe (Desperado > Bludgeoner > Sky Piercer) Kayle (Fury Break) K’Sante/Leona/Sett/Swain (Tank-Zilla > Body Change)

How to Play:

  • This comp must spike very hard on 4-1/4-2, ideally 4-1. All of your strength later into the game comes from 5 Crystal Gambit cash outs. Do your best to kill as many units possible every fight. If you fall behind on cash outs you are likely to bot 4.
  • To be as strong as possible flex your frontline on your roll down. Play around K’Sante, Leona, Sett or Swain 3. In terms of strength: Swain 3 > K’Sante 2 > Leona 2 > Sett 2.
  • Fury break on Kayle is very strong on stage 4 but falls off. Ideally do not use removers on this, buy and sell Kayles you see on your roll down. K’Sante 2 or Swain 3 with a fruit will be better as the game progresses and you stack up cash outs.
  • Kraken Slayer is by far Ashe’s best item and we want at a minimum 2. If we have 3 we can consider keeping Fury Break longer as Kraken and Fury synergize very well.
  • We cap around Braum 2 and Lee Sin 2 if possible, but we have many different ways to cap out depending on what our cash outs gave us. Duelist TF or Vertical Strategist are common alternatives. Kayle and Jarvan are replaceable.
  • 7 Crystal is only good on stage 4, it is very hard to play 7 Crystal on stage 5 as you have to play too many low quality units.

Items:

  • Ashe: Kraken Slayer, as many as you can make.
    • Giant Slayer, Deathblade, Guinsoo’s Rageblade
  • K’Sante/Leona/Sett/Swain: Generic Tank
  • Lee Sin: Sterak’s Gage, Infinity Edge, Hand of Justice, Giant Slayer, Deathblade

Requirements:

  • Crystal Gambit Emblem or Early Ashe
  • 5 Crystal Gambit on 3-2

Item Holder: Syndra, Janna, Aatrox
Power Ups: Malzahar (Mage > Noxious Trap) Swain (Round Two > Body Change)

How to Play:

This comp is best played when you have 5 Crystal Gambit on 3-2 and are able to farm rewards early. It is worth it to rolldown very aggressively on 3-2 to ensure you have 5 Crystal Gambit and a strong board to be able to farm efficiently. It is incredibly important to start snowballing your Crystal Gambit early as it can be harder to do so in stage 4 when everyone spikes. The best cash out is the 6 kill one as it has a 50% chance to drop 2 lesser champion dupes which can accelerate your spike on Malzahar and Swain 3. This comp is less of a stall comp compared to Heavyweight Crystal Gambit so we prefer Mage to Noxious Trap.

Items:

  • Malzahar: Blue Buff/Spear of Shojin/Adaptive Helm
    • Rabadon’s Death Cap, Giant Slayer, Jeweled Gauntlet

  • Enough money to find Akali 2 on Stage 4
  • Great scouting and positioning

Item Holder: Syndra, Ezreal
Power Ups: Akali (Crimson Veil), K’Sante (Tank-Zilla >>> Body Change)

How to Play:
This comp is a lowroll farmer meaning you must come online during Early Stage 4 to abuse weaker opponents. If you are able to meet this condition this comp is incredibly consistent for top 4s. This includes Janna and Kog’Maw players who haven’t hit their 3 stars and fast 8 players who missed their 4 cost 2 star. We also have very good match ups into Kog’Maw and Janna which are the 2 other S tier comps this patch. BIS is absolutely essential in this comp as Akali wants to be untargetable for as much of the fight as possible and double Nashor’s Tooth allows her to do so. QSS is the best last item by far but there are other acceptable options such as Edge of Night or Hand of Justice. Positioning is key to this comp. Akali should be on one of the hexes left/right from the middle of the board on the same side as the opponents carry. The positioning shown above is for an opponent with their carry in the left corner.

Items:

  • Akali: Double Nashor’s Tooth, Quicksilver

Kayle Reroll

TFT Comps Set 15 Tier List - Patch 15.9 Meta Snapshot

Leveling Pattern:

1 Cost Reroll

Do not press the level button at all until you 3 star your 1 cost.

On Stage 3-1, at level 4, you can roll to 32g (most common), slow roll, or roll until you hit 3*.

Be flexible in when you roll, be willing to break econ intervals if you are close or need tempo. Ideally finish 1 3 star by 3-5.

All in on 4-1 if you haven’t hit already.

Conditions:

  • High Economy/Resource Portal
  • Economy Augment
  • Kayle 3
  • Hitting Level 9
  • Flickerblade

Item Holder: Kayle, Zac
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Power Ups: Kayle (Over 9000 > Double Strike), Zac (Body Change > Round Two) K’Sante (Body Change > Resistant)

How to Play:
You need to be able to go 9 with this comp to succeed. Kayle at level 9 makes it so she sends out a wave on each auto attack, allowing her to cleave down boards with ease. Getting to this point is essential. Before level 6, Kayle does not send out any waves making her very weak, this means we will likely naturally go into a 5 loss streak. On 3-1 we can dig for Kayle 3, but we are not allowed to go bellow 32 gold. We need to keep our econ up to hit level 9. If we don’t hit on stage 3 we dig for Kayle 3 again on 4-1, but if this is the case we are likely very low HP and down on tempo. The best Kayle games are ones where you can afford to go level 9 on 4-5. If you manage to make it to level 9 with 3 star Kayle and 2 lives you have great odds at top 2. Zac 3 is not a necessity but is a nice luxury to hold down our frontline. If we do not find Zac 3 we itemize K’Sante 2 instead. We play 6 Wraith after the recent buffs and this makes our board cap out extremely high. Since we are playing 6 Wraith and not Juggernauts or another frontline synergy we opt to play a more damage and burst oriented Kayle build as it synergizes better with Wraith. This means we do not make Guinsoo’s Rageblade anymore as it is too slow of an item to consider on Kayle in this set up. This makes Kayle’s fights a lot faster and efficient in the late game.

Items:

  • Kayle: Giant Slayer, Red Buff, Rabadon’s Deathcap
    • Jeweled Gauntlet, Striker’s Flail
    • Flickerblade, Gambler’s Blade, Zhonya’s Paradox, Statikk Shiv
  • Zac: Spirit Visage, Warmog’s Armor, Dragon’s Claw
  • K’Sante: Generic Tank
  • Varus: Infinity Edge, Spear of Shojin
    • Left over AD items

Augments:

Gambler’s Blade Kayle is very strong as it enables you to go 9 and gives you the 2 stats you want the most on Kayle.

Requirements:

  • Bastion or Ranged Artifact Yasuo
  • Enough econ to find Yasuo 3

Item Holder:
Power Ups: Yasuo (Hemorrhage if Ranged, Wind Wall if Melee), Swain (Tank-Zilla > Body Change)

How to Play:
Only play this if you have Bastion Emblem or a Ranged Artifact on Yasuo if not he will randomly die and you will have no damage to finish fights. Prioritize Infinity Edge on Yasuo and ideally a healing item as your last slot but damage can work as well. Slow roll on level 7 for Yasuo 3 Swain 3 and then push to 8 to play 4 Edgelord. If you manage to make it to level 9, Braum is a very big spike that can win you the game. Hemorrhage is by far the best power up we can find on Ranged Yasuo as it is a pure 60% damage increase on him due to how split his damage is. If we are melee with a Bastion Emblem we can take Wind Wall for the extra tankiness and crit chance. If we have excess AP items we can go for Kog’Maw 3 as an alternative wincon.

Items:

  • Yasuo: Bastion Emblem, Infinity Edge, Hand of Justice

Level 8 5-2 if possible

Requirements:

  • Veteran Janna Power Up
  • Good Item Quality
  • Enough Econ to find either Kobuko 3 or Janna 3 by stage 4

Item Holder: Syndra, Janna, Aatrox
Power Ups: Janna (Veteran) Kobuko (Best Defense > Atomic > Unstoppable)

How to Play:
This is a standard level 6 2 cost reroll comp outside of the condition of needing Veteran Janna. It is not recommended to commit to this comp if you do not already have this Power Up. Aim to stabilize around 4 Mentor on 3-2 with Janna, Kobuko, Yasuo and Udyr, unless we highroll Ryze. The other 2 units on our board can either be an upgraded Protector, an Aatrox to give us both Juggernaut and Heavyweight or a Strategist. The other way to play this comp is from a Crystal Gambit Cash out as this comp is very item hungry and has a lot of artifacts it can use. Aim to stabilize on the turn you cash out, likely 4-1 and set up for a win out. Ryze 2 with 3 items is a good win condition. Kobuko should be built with either a Best Defense shielding set up or Atomic with a lot of HP items.

Items:

  • Janna: Blue Buff/Spear of Shojin
    • Rabadon’s Death Cap, Giant Slayer, Jeweled Gauntlet, Void Staff, Archangel’s Staff
    • Manazane, Executioner Emblem, Sniper’s Focus
  • Kobuko: Generic Tank

Conditions:

  • Strong Mighty Mech Opener
  • Good source of Econ, Portal or Augment
  • A way to find Yone as this comps biggest spike is 7 Mighty Mech

Item Holder: Lucian, Aatrox, GP
Power Ups: Aatrox (Mech Pilot) Senna (Mech Pilot)

How to Play:
Play around a strong Mech opener and prioritize econ intervals as our goal with this comp is to reach Yone for 7 Mighty Mech. Karma itemization is different from what it would be in 6 Sorcerer, we opt for flat AP or more utility items as we don’t have enough AP to efficiently leverage the power of Jeweled Gauntlet. It is ok to slam Jeweled Gauntlet for tempo but it is ideal to pair this item with a Deathcap or some source of raw AP. The Mech’s ability does a lot of magic damage so having magic shred in this composition is an absolute must. Last patch Mech Pilot was changed to be guaranteed after seeing the first one so it is much more forceable. This makes us want to build items to feed the Mech similar to how we would play Fusion Dance. Aura items such as Evenshroud and Ionic Spark work on the mech if placed on a Mech Pilot Unit. Jarvan has the highest odds to see Mech Pilot so it is good to use a few fruit removers on him to find it. If you do find it on him fruit Aatrox for guaranteed Mech Pilot, then fruit remover Jarvan and fruit Senna as we do not want Jarvan to start combat inside the mech. If by your last fruit remover you do not have Mech Pilot on Jarvan, start buying and selling extra mech units you found during your rolldown to try to see your first Mech Pilot, then place it on Aatrox and Senna. Every single 2 star upgrade in this comp is incredibly important as it directly scales the mechs base stats so selling 2 star mechs is almost never worth it unless you must move your fruits around.

  • Karma: Blue Buff/Spear of Shojin/Adaptive, Morello, Void Staff
    • Rabadon’s Death Cap
  • Mech Pilot Senna/Aatrox: Warmog’s Armor, Rabadon’s Death Cap, Sterak’s Gage, Ionic Spark, Hand of Justice

The Crew Reroll

TFT Comps Set 15 Tier List - Patch 15.9 Meta Snapshot

Leveling Pattern: 1 Cost Reroll

Conditions:

  • Reroll Augment
  • Uncontested

Item Holder: Sivir, Malphite
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Strategist Emblem (Malphite/Sivir)
Power Up: Ziggs (Double Strike > Keen Eye > Sky Piercer ) Malphite (Body Change > Stand Alone)

How to Play: Explorer
You will be rerolling the whole game, manually leveling is very inefficient until you 3 star everything. Never manually level, you want to see as many shops as possible even if the odds for units are lower as it is still a higher chance to find your units than to expend money on leveling and then rolling. The highest priority is to hit 1 3 star unit because then each of our rolls effectively cost 1 gold as they give us 1xp per roll. The tempo of this comp is a bit weird at times. We stabilize pretty hard stage 3 around 3 star 1 cost, ideally both Malphite and Sivir but come stage 4 we begin to fall behind, specially after most players all in on 4-2. When we 3 star 3 units we get our Crew ship which helps out with damage, I try to aim to hit this by 4-5 at the latest because if not the damage you will take in stage 4 can lead to a bot 4. The big power spike is at 4 3*s, game is rough until then. Do everything in your power to get 4 3*s such as getting econ augments and greeding gold. Ideally we have all our 3 stars by 5-2 at the latest.

Items:

  • Sivir: Infinity Edge, Shojin, Striker’s Flail
    • Deathblade, Last Whisper, Giant Slayer
  • Malphite: Gargoyle Stoneplate, Warmogs, Spirit Visage

  • Ziggs: Rageblade, Rabadon’s, Voidstaff

  • Golden Edge Power up on Gnar
  • High resource portal
  • Preferably 2 Econ Augments

Item Holder:
Power Ups: Gnar (Golden Edge), Varus (Doom Barrage > Shadow Clone) K’Sante (Tank-Zilla > Unstoppable) Twisted Fate (Shadow Clone) If no Shred/Sunder take Sky Piercer on Varus or TF.

How to Play: Explorer
This is likely the hardest comp in the game to play and is high risk, high reward. The idea of this comp is to abuse the Golden Edge Power Up in early mid game as an economy engine to reach level 9 with enough gold to find Varus 2. Early and mid game if you have a Guinsoo’s Rageblade Golden Edge Gnar it will almost always be better to add more front line to your board as opposed to damage as you want fights to go long to farm maximum Golden Edge value. It’s worth it to buy and sell Gnar 1s to get Golden Edge. You can try to play around Golden Edge Kayle but it is substantially weaker and slower than it is on Gnar. If you miss on Golden Edge you can play things like Shadow Clone or Kahunahuna for tempo and try to generate gold from a 5+ win streak. It is extremely hard to play this comp without multiple sources of econ as level 9 is very expensive and so is our board so prioritize econ augments. HP is an incredibly important resource to manage when playing this comp as you will often have to have enough to sac most of stage 4 and all in on 5-1 unless you hit overpowered econ augments such as Forward Thinking. Item priority should go towards making the best possible Varus items after completing Guinsoo’s Rageblade to abuse Golden Edge.

This comp requires a lot of scouting to ensure you keep your win streak alive into stage 4. Understanding Gnar’s interaction with different power ups and how to flex your frontline early and mid game are key to being successful with this comp. Late game Varus 2 will likely be your best source of damage, TF 2 is also ok but the fights are much slower with TF as opposed to Varus.

Items:

  • Gnar: Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Gambler’s Blade
  • Varus: Infinity Edge, Spear of Shojin, Last Whisper
    • Striker’s Flail, Death Blade
  • Twisted Fate: Red Buff/Morello, Guinsoo’s Rageblade,
  • K’Sante: Generic Tank

Augments:

Dr. Mundo 2 with Moguls mail will easily farm you 40+ gold a game, Gnar with Gambler’s blade will easily farm 25+ while also making you strong. Econ augments are good but we prioritize strength to preserve win streak.

  • Lots of frontline items

Item Holder: Ezreal, Syndra, Rell, Garen, any Bastion
Power Ups: Kog’Maw (Fairy Tale >>> Caretakers) Swain 3 (Tank-zilla > Body Change > Round Two)

How to Play:
This is a standard 3 cost level 7 Reroll comp where we look for Swain 3 Kog’Maw 3. 6 Bastion is the best performing frontline trait at the moment and Swain 3 caps the highest. With Monster Trainer being reworked to grant full power immediately this comp’s main condition is now itemization. Kog utilizes artifacts insanely well and if you get Statikk Shiv, Flickerblade, Dawncore, Lich Bane, Wit’s End or Gambler’s Blade on 2-1 you should look to play Kog’Maw. Spear of Shojin is Kog’Maw’s most important craftable item and it goes in all of his builds. If you are rich enough you can cap around Yasuo 3 but it is hard to slot him in without an emblem as you must be level 8 to play him along side 6 Bastion.

Items:

  • Kog’Maw: Spear of Shojin, Archangel Staff, Guinsoo’s Rageblade

  • Enough Econ to find Varus

Item Holder: Xayah, Ezreal, Rell, Garen, Neeko
Power Ups: Jinx (Hyper Active > Sky Piercer), Poppy (Body Change > Unstoppable > Regenerative)

How to Play:
This comp is a variation of Star Guardians that focuses to abuse the strongest bonuses in the trait. Xayah may look out of place on this board as she does not provide any other synergy other than Star Guardian but her buff is very powerful as it gives us on hit damage every 3 attacks. With the Tiny Team augment this bonus can go up to as much as 700 damage into the later stages of the game making your board deal an insane amount of mixed damage that can be difficult to itemize against. Jinx’s buff is extremely strong as it provides both her and Xayah with huge bursts of attack speed to even further abuse Xayah’s buff. Poppy is one of the tankiest units in the game at the moment so we opt into her as our main tank and she is also receiving a huge amount of healing from her own Star Guardian buff. We can itemize K’Sante 2 if we find him before Poppy 2 but Poppy 2 will almost always be better than K’Sante on this board. The rest of our board is populated with strong Wraith units as it is a very strong trait at the moment and ties in Jinx’s and Poppy’s traits incredibly well. Jarvan and Janna are here for utility and great traits.

Items:

  • Jinx: Kraken Slayer, Infinity Edge

Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Battle Academia (Seraphine)
Power Ups: Yuumi (Super Genius > Bullet Hell), Leona (Body Change), K’Sante (Body Change > Unstoppable)

How to Play: Explorer
This is a standard fast 8 comp that is heavily contested at the moment, having strong econ is very important to find success with this comp. Use Syndra with Rising Chaos as your item holder if possible as she provides the strongest tempo out of the 1 cost at the moment. This comp is also very item hungry as we have multiple carries, so it’s important to have at least 1 item augment. Mana items in this comp are not great as prodigy provides us with enough mana generation to be able to itemize for full damage. However, tears make excellent tank items and Archangel’s Staff which is one of Yuumi’s best items. Protector’s Vow is great, as is Spirit Visage on leona. Shred and burn are extremely important in this comp so making a Void Staff and Red Buff or Morello on Malzahar is a top priority, he also utilizes these items extremely efficiently. Ideally we main tank Leona but if we find K’Sante 2 first we should itemize and power up him instead.

Items:

  • Yuumi: Jeweled Gauntlet, Striker’s Flail, Hextech Gunblade
    • Archangel Staff, Rabadon’s Death Cap, Giant Slayer
  • Leona: Protector’s Vow, Spirit Visage, Steadfast Heart

Conditions:

  • Econ Augments and the tempo necessary to go level 9 to find Braum
  • Lots of swords
  • Great positioning

Item Holder: Xayah, Yasuo
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Sett (Luchador)
Power Ups: Volibear (Serious Slam > Thrillseeker > Tiny Terror > Final Boss), Samira (On The Edge > Attack Expert > Bludgeoner > Shadow Clone > If no IE Critical Threat), Yone (Blood Brothers > Thrill Seeker > Final Boss > Tiny Terror)

How to Play:
As with any Fast 8/9 comp, you need to either play from an HP lead or have ridiculous econ in order to reach level 8/9 while still having enough gold to roll with. If you can’t reach 4 Luchador with Braum, you will be a lot weaker as 4 Luchador is the most important spike for this board.

The Strongest part of Volibear’s kit is his reset on kill. This incentivizes us to build full damage and try to proc his reset as much as possible. Fights with Volibear should be fast as he does not scale well into a fight compared to other meta comps such as Ashe and Yuumi. We want to position Volibear to target the weak side of our opponents frontline first and potentially wrap to their backline.

Items:

  • Volibear: Infinity Edge, Striker’s Flail, Deathblade
    • Fishbones, Spectral Cutlass, Titanic Hydra, Mittens, Death’s Defiance, Flickerblades, Prowler’s Claw, Suspicious Trenchcoat, Hand of Justice, Infinity Edge, Edge of Night, Edge of Night,

Protector Sniper Reroll

TFT Comps Set 15 Tier List - Patch 15.9 Meta Snapshot
TFT Comps Set 15 Tier List - Patch 15.9 Meta Snapshot

Leveling Pattern:

1 Cost Reroll

Do not press the level button at all until you 3 star your 1 cost.

On Stage 3-1, at level 4, you can roll to 32g (most common), slow roll, or roll until you hit 3*.

Be flexible in when you roll, be willing to break econ intervals if you are close or need tempo. Ideally finish 1 3 star by 3-5.

All in on 4-1 if you haven’t hit already.

Requirements:

  • Lots of Sivirs or Malphite copies early
  • Good Malphite item slams
  • Lots of econ
  • Item Augments
  • Fishbones, Collector, Luden’s Tempest, Mogul’s Mail

Item Holder: Jhin, Sivir, Gnar, Malphite
Power Ups: Jhin (Spirit Sword (with two crit items) > Bludgeoner > Artistic KO), Malphite (Body Change > Stand Alone > Atomic > Round Two), K’Sante (Body Change > Resistant)

How to Play: Explorer
Play this comp as you would play crew, except donโ€™t chase Shen or Ziggs. Instead, we reroll for Jhin 3, Gnar 3, and Kennen 3. Since we are playing crew, the moment we hit Sivir 3 or Malphite 3 we will generate 1 XP per roll so it is very important to never manually level playing this comp until we hit our 3 stars. Do not pump into leveling at all in the early game as you want to roll at level 4 on 3-1 to find Sivir or Malphite 3. After that slowroll on 5 to 3 star as many 1 cost as you can and naturally level with Crew as you roll for Jhin 3. Once you find Jhin 3 you want to level manually and as quickly as possible for as many snipers as you can fit. Hold your items on Sivir 3 until you find Jhin 3. Malphite was nerfed in the recent patch so once we find K’Sante 2 we want to swap our tank items over to him and main tank him.

Items:

  • Jhin: Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Giant Slayer, Infinity Edge
    • Fish Bones, Collector, Luden’s Tempest
  • Malphite: Gargoyle Stoneplate, Warmogs, Steadfast Heart
    • Generic tank

Conditions:

  • Jhin’s special power up (Artistic KO)
  • Early Jhins

Item Holder: Jhin, Gnar, Dr. Mundo
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Zac (Juggernaut)
Power Ups: Jhin (Artistic KO), Dr. Mundo (Resistant > Pure Heart > Stand Alone)

How to Play:
This comp functions very similarly to Gnar Fast 9 as it uses the exact same frontline, but instead of trying to rush to level 9, we reroll for Jhin 3 and Mundo 3. Mundo will reset with luchador, then heal from allied Juggernaut deaths, making the uptime for our items essentially the entire fight. Jhin’s passive directly converts attack speed into AD so all the stall and front line Mundo provides allows us to ramp up our damage. Artistic KO is required as it lets Jhin damage more than 1 unit at a time. A lot of the time his 4th shot will overkill a unit and a lot of damage is wasted, but with Artistic KO, that overkill damage will be redirected to another enemy. You can eventually cap out with Varus, but hitting your 3 stars is more important. If you happen to find a Juggernaut Emblem, you can chase Zac 3 as he is very powerful with this emblem, otherwise sit on Zac 2. Any excess AD items can go on Gnar.

This comp lost a bit of power with the recent nerfs to Dr. Mundo making our frontline a bit weaker however, this comps damage has become more consistent with a recent change to Jhin allowing his 4th shot to redirect to a different target if the target dies before the shot connects.

Items:

  • Jhin: Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Giant Slayer, Infinity Edge
    • Fishbones, Collector, Luden’s Tempest

  • At least 1 Econ augment is preferred so we can reach level 9 and find Gwen

Item Holder: Lucian, Ahri, Syndra
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Ryze
Power Ups: Karma (Efficient > Mage> Shadow Clone), Gwen (Fusion Dance > Needle Work), Swain (Round Two >> Selfish > Stand Alone)

How to Play:
Standard Fast 8 at 4-2 comp. Stabilize around Ahri 2 Swain 2 if you miss on Karma 2. 6 Sorc is a huge spike, 1 Gwen makes you insanely strong. Your goal should be to be stable around your 3 cost and reach level 9 for Gwen 2 which is your top 2 condition. We value spell crit more than items like Death Cap due to having so much AP from our trait so we want multipliers and not raw AP. Position Karma and Ahri to focus the weaker front liners so they can proc the Sorcerer on kill passive that deals % damage. We want to end fights quickly as we are a glass cannon build.

With Karma nerfs and 3 Mighty Mech nerfs, this comp has gotten a lot weaker. It was really important to win most of your stage 4 fights after stabilizing on Karma 2 and now this is a lot harder. If you manage to get to Gwen 2 with Fusion Dance

Items:

  • Karma: 1 mana item Blue Buff/Shojin/Adaptive Helm, Jeweled Gauntlet, Striker’s Flail

Item Holder: Gnar, Naafiri
Power Ups: Jinx (Hyperactive) Poppy (Best Defense > Unstoppable) Sky Piercer if you are missing Sunder.

How to Play:
This comp takes the best of both worlds from the Luchador and Star Guardian traits. This is a line you can take when you drop too many AD items when playing Star Guardians. 4 Luchador is an incredible supportive trait that buys time for Kraken Slayer and Guinsoo’s to scale up on your Jinx. Building bruiser items in this set up is very valuable as Volibear ends up being a lot of frontline and stall for Jinx.

Items:

  • Jinx: Kraken Slayer, Infinity Edge, Guinsoo’s Rageblade

How to Play:
Get Lulu early (latest 2-5) and transform into Smolder with slammable item. Reroll at level 7 for Smolder 3, Neeko 3 and Rakan 3. You prioritize tank items on whichever front liner you 3 star. Before you hit a K’Sante, play 2 strategist with either Jarvan or Ryze. Ryze is prefered due to giving Smolder 2 mana on auto attack from Mentor. The sooner you hit K’Sante and 6 protector, the stronger you will be. If offered augments such as Sword Overflow, this comp can also play All Out K’Sante as a secondary carry. Janna can hold Excess AP items, if you have too many AP items Janna 3 can be an alternate win condition. Anti-heal is not required in this comp as Smolder already reduces healing.

Smolder got nerfed so our already rough early and mid game is even harder to navigate. This line is not great without artifact direction and a Smolder on 2-1.

Items:

  • Smolder: Spear of Shojin, Infinity Edge, Hextech Gunblade

Item Holder: Gnar, Jhin, Ezreal, Syndra
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Braum becomes very hard to kill and does a lot of AoE damage. His high base damage is very effectively amplified by 7 Crystal Gambit.
Power Ups: Ashe (Bullet Hell > Double Strike > Bludgeoner ), K’Sante (Body Change > Unstoppable), Zyra (Mana Rush > Mage > Efficient > Bonus Bloom)

How to Play: Explorer
You do not need to fully commit to Crystal Gambit. You can always cash out and pivot to a different comp. You will be up a lot of resources on your opponents so your goal should be to reach some sort of critical mass and win out. You win due to pure item advantage. Early game we want to item hold solid single target unit to get a kill or two but not win. Gnar, Jhin, Ezreal or Syndra accomplish this goal. We have the option of fruiting Zyra or K’Sante depend what we find. K’Sante even with just 2 protector is incredibly tanky and is the most consistent tank we can itemize in this comp.

5/7 Crystal Gambit requires killing units

After nerfs to 7 Crystal Gambit this comp is not as powerful as it used to be. You used to be able to get away with having Ashe 1 but after nerfs we must have enough econ to hit our entire board. Our potential to win out and cap is also a lot lower as we lost combat power which leads to less cash out rewards from killing units.

Items:

  • Ashe: Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Kraken Slayer
  • Zyra: Spear of Shojin, Blue Buff
  • K’Sante: Warmog’s Armor, Dragon’s Claw, Protector’s Vow
  • Braum: Crystal Gambit Emblem, Sterak’s Gage

Power Ups: Jayce (Over 9000 > Weights > Trickster > Not Done Yet > 100 Push Ups) Caitlyn (Over 9000 > Shadow Clone > Precision)

How to Play:
It’s recommended to only play this comp when we are dropped Caitlyn or Jayce from an orb in stage 1. It is very important to be strong early game with a opener that feeds into our final board so this comp is basically exclusively playable from a Battle Academia opener. We position as shown to allow Caitlyn a free shot at enemy carries, we want to position opposite side of enemy carries as Caitlyn prioritizes the farthest enemy on the board from her position. Jayce is really tanky and can be positioned into some enemy carries, but generally speaking being opposite side of enemy carry allows for a cleaner fight where Jayce kills most of the frontline then takes care of whatever backline Caitlyn hasn’t finished off yet. Item augments are great in this comp as any itemized 7 Battle Academia unit will do work. Alternatively if your opponent only has 1 back liner, like Ashe, you can position Jayce and Caitlyn on the same side, quickly take out the tank in front of Ashe then snipe her.

Even after nerfs if we find both Jayce and Caitlyn 3, with good positioning we can win the game.

Item Holder: Viego, Naafiri, Lux
Power Ups: Viego (Stretchy Arms), Xin Zhao (Round Two > Resistant > Pure Heart)

How to Play: Explorer
This is a standard level 7 reroll comp and our biggest spike is Viego 3. Viego 2 will be stable into stage 4 if you have good items, otherwise you will struggle to survive stage 4. Xin Zhao 3 is an excellent tank if manage to find enough copies, if not Sett 2 is more than good enough. If you happen to have enough economy and extra AP items you can chase Lux 3 and secondary carry her. Excess AD items will go on Samira 2 but she should not be prioritized. The highest priority will be 3 item Viego 3 and a 3 item tank. If you are rich enough going 9 for Gwen 2 and 8 Soul Fighter is a great way to cap out.

How to Play:
This comp functions very similary to Soul Fighter Viego but can be played when you find an early Rammus. Rammus might look like a weird addition to this composition but at level 15 he gets a taunt that draws aggro away from Viego allowing him to stack up Stretchy Arms and scale into the fight. The fights with this comp tend to be faster than Soul Fighter Viego but we have weaker frontline and less scaling damage, making this the weaker variation unless we have a very early Rammus.

  • Lots of Swords and Bows

Item Holder: Lucian, Gangplank, Yasuo, Udyr
Power Ups: Gangplank (Stretchy Arms) Save all your removers for this, Yasuo (Thrillseeker > Final Boss > Unflinching) Kobuko (Unstoppable > Tank-Zilla)

How to Play:
This comp requires Stretchy Arms on Gangplank to keep him safe and allow him to scale with Guinsoo’s Rageblade and Kraken Slayer. Stretchy Arms allows us to eventually target any unit on the board with Gangplank’s Spell as he targets the lowest HP target. On 3-2 roll down for GP 2* to farm money, slam any items you have and work towards BIS as the game progresses as any left over bruiser items go to Yasuo. Reroll on 6 till 5-7 copies of gangplank then push to level 7 to find 4 mentor. 4 Mentor is essential to this comps success as it gives us more forms of backline access. Kobuko gains a stun and Yasuo a blink to the lowest HP target within 4 hexes, this means we have many forms of backline disruption and great match ups into comps like Sorcerers who are very backline focused and have easy to kill frontlines to proc Stretchy Arms on GP. This comps wincondition is 3 starring as many units as possible so staying down on level 7 and digging for Yasuo 3 and Kobuko 3 is correct given we are uncontested. Udyr 3 is ok if you are rich enough but not a priority as he will be the last Mentor we itemize. Leveling to 8 doesn’t give us much except executioner on Ryze who will likely not have many items as our priority is GP > Kobuko > Yasuo > Ryze > Udyr.

Positioning is key in this comp, we want Kobuko same side as enemy carries for his CC and to tank aggro for GP for as long as possible while he scales Stretchy Arms. We should always position GP away from enemy carries. Yasuo should be next to Kobuko as theres a chance with Kobuko’s spell damage he might immediately dash to the backline.

After nerfs to GP’s base stats this comp has become very mediocre, it is much harder to snowball money mid game off the back of GP 2 which was one of the most powerful things this comp did. The change to GP’s spell searching for a target in any range being removed is the biggest possible nerf to this comp as we can no longer fully by pass front line. It is even more crucial to hit Ryze early stage 4 to save HP as we are much weaker on GP 2.

Items:

  • Gangplank: Edge of Night, Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Kraken Slayer
    • Deathblade, Infinity Edge, Hand of Justice, Sterak’s Gage
  • Yasuo: Edge of Night, Infinity Edge, Hand of Justice
    • Titan’s Resolve, Bloodthirster

Conditions:

  • Early copies
  • Early slams for tempo
  • S Tier with Double Trouble

Item Holder: Xayah, Rakan, Gnar, Malphite
Power Ups: Xayah and Rakan (Fan Service). You are guaranteed the second fan service after having the first one, Xayah is more likely to see Fan Service.

How to Play: Explorer
Play this from early copies of Xayah or Rakan and 1 slammable item as tempo is important with this comp. The version without Double Trouble struggles to win out so make sure to roll aggressively on 3-2 to save HP. Rakan’s items are only BIS in combination, if you can’t reach specifically Titan’s Resolve plus Archangel’s Staff just build generic tank items on him. Xayah’s most important item is Kraken’s Fury and then Guinsoo’s Rageblade so make sure you have enough bows when playing this composition. Cap out around 6 protectors and K’Sante 2 in the normal version. Cap out around Neeko 3 if you have Double Trouble.

Items:

  • Xayah: Kraken’s Fury, Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Giant Slayer
    • Deathblade, Fishbones, Flickerblade

Power Ups: Ashe (Bullet Hell >>> Kahunahuna > Shadow Clone > Desperado), Sett (Colossal > Pure Heart > Resistant > Round Two)

How to Play: Explorer
This is a fast 8 tempo comp and must be played from an HP lead as our cap is very low compared to stronger comps like 6 Sorcerers and Yuumi. We are also countered by these comps so are very likely to lose to them late game. Ashe doesn’t do much without both Guinsoo’s and Kraken so it is very important to have both. This comps most important pieces are the 6 Juggernauts and Ashe, so this allows us to play around the Colossal power up if we get it offered. Zyra is a very good unit but we will often not find her at level 8 and have a dead slot most of the time as no other synergy or unit strengthens our board very much. Our 2 options outside of Zyra are TF and Gnar, most of the time the value we can get from the Colossal power up will be better. Flickerblade and Fishbones are potential win conditions.

Items:

  • Ashe: Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Kraken Slayer, Striker’s Flail

  • Sett: Warmog’s Armor, Dragon’s Claw, Spirit’s Visage

Conditions:

  • Kai’Sa or Rammus drop from Stage 1 Orb
  • 1 Slammable item on Kai’Sa in stage 2
  • Best comp in the game with Fishbones
  • Snipers Focus or Manazane also work

Item Holder:
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Power Ups: Kai’Sa (Over 9000 > Bullet Hell > Max Attack) Rammus (Rare Treat >Unstoppable > Body Change) Darius (Budgeoner)

How to Play:
Kai’Sa gets scaling AD every time she gets a kill so it is only advisable to play this line from early Kai’Sa and 2 Supreme Cell opener. Over 9000 Kai’Sa is an incredible win condition and I recommend committing to this line if you find it. We play Rammus instead of juggernauts as it is easier to fit in 4 Supreme Cell for Kai’Sa while still proving a strong frontline. This comp needs to be played from tempo because Kai’Sa and Rammus need time to scale, but once you get enough AD on Kai’Sa and levels on Rammus you can win out. The Rare Treat power up can help with scaling Rammus to level 30 and can provide quite a bit of stability in the mid and late game. Darius 3 is an amazing win condition as his single target is key in breaking through late game frontlines. He will at times out damage Kai’Sa when you get there and is worth moving the power up from Rammus to Darius once you 3 star him and put 3 items on him.

Items:

  • Kai’Sa: Infinity Edge, Striker’s Flail, Guinsoo’s Rageblade
    • Fishbones, Kraken Slayer, Spear of Shojin, Last Whisper, Manazane
  • Rammus: Protector’s Vow, Spirit Visage, Evenshroud

  • Ramping items on Akali
  • Must have BIS

Item Holder: Janna
Power Ups: Akali (Crimsom Veil > Dark Amulet), K’Sante (Any Tank Power)

How to Play:

Play around early protectors and any unit that can hold Shojin, Rageblade or Archangel. This comp functions around having a cheap, but powerful frontline that stalls as Archangel’s and Rageblade scale up, making these 2 items required. Akali continually drops aggro each cast so we will always get max value from our protector shields as she scales up to 1v9 at the end. Her mana pool is 30 so Shojin allows us to drop aggro every 2 autos instead of 3. Edge of Night is decent but unneccesary as Shojin ends up providing more safety. There really only is 1 unit on your board playing this comp, everything is about Akali so all of your decisions should be based on enabling her to solo carry the fight once Rageblade and Archangel’s is scaled. Do not opt for All Out K’Sante in this comp as you really want maximum stall for Akali’s scaling items. Giving up K’Sante’s revive for more damage in this comp is not necessary. Econ augments are good in this comp as the most important part of our gameplan is hitting BIS Akali 2.

Items:

  • Akali: Archangel’s Staff, Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Spear of Shojin
    • Edge of Night only over Shojin
  • K’Sante: Generic Tank items

  • 1 Econ Augment and 1 Item Augment
  • A lot of gloves

Item Holder: Gankplank, Naafiri, Viego
Power Ups: K’Sante (All Out is Required), Akali (Dark Amulet, Crimson Veil)

How to Play:
This comp is a bit hard to pull off as K’Sante is a very heavily contested unit so we must have good economy to reach this board state. Glove is the best component in this comp and is highly contested so we need to have decent item drops early. Things like Infinity Edge and Striker’s Flail slam will naturally lead us to this comp. All Out is what really makes this comp shine, K’Sante loses his revive passive but gets 50% AD and 20% damage reduction. He becomes an absolute monster and starts 1 tapping units with his ult. Akali does an excellent job of sniping backline carries if K’Sante happens to get stuck on a beefy front liner. She also tends to put front liners into K’Sante’s range and lets him kill them in a single cast. To find success with this unit you must make 1 healing item at the minimum, ideally it’s Hand of Justice. Ryze is a trait bot, upgrading this unit is a waste of 8 gold unless you are trying to go for max cap. Item investment on him is also quite bad as most of his power budget is in 4 mentor which we do not play. Tears should be invested into making Protector’s Vow Jarvan, the stun is incredibly valuable utility in helping Akali and K’Sante stay alive. I do not recommend trying to force this comp, only angle it if the items fall into your lap and you are rich enough to heavily dig on level 8. We cap around Varus 2 with excess AD items.

Items:

  • K’Sante: Edge of Night, Infinity Edge, Striker’s Flail
    • Sterak’s Gage, Giant Slayer, Deathblade
  • Akali: Hand of Justice or Bloodthirster, Striker’s Flail, Rabadon’s Deathcap

Conditions:

  • Colossal Power Up on Udyr
  • Lots of Bows
  • Good early game tempo around a Guinsoo’s Rageblade or Kraken’s Fury slam
  • BIS Items for both Ashe and Udyr

Item Holder: Naafiri, Gnar, Kai’sa
Power Ups: Udyr (Colossal is required), Ashe (Bullet Hell > Double Strike > Shadow Clone), Lee Sin (Colossal)

How to Play:
Must have Colossal and BIS on Udyr as it makes him unkillable as a solo frontliner. Udyr scales very well from every stat so the AP granted from Titan’s Resolve is used really efficiently, making this item extremely important. Gargoyle Stoneplate provides him from armor and magic resist needed to sustain through the fight. Sterak’s Gage allows him to heal up from his spell while shielded, basically giving him a second life. The combination of these 3 items makes him a very effective solo frontliner that allows Ashe to scale up into the fight with Guinsoo’s and Kraken. This comp is not very expensive so econ augments are generally going to be lower value, the most important condition to meet with this comp is BIS items. Your highest cap is Lee Sin 2 with a second Colossal Power Up, this makes both Udyr and Lee Sin incredibly tanky. Titan’s Resolve is the best item on Colossal units as they can reliably proc and utilize the armor mr and spell shield so try to find a second one for Lee Sin. Colossal on Lee Sin only has about a 10% chance to show up per roll so only go for it if you have enough fruit removers.

Items:

  • Ashe: Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Kraken’s Fury, Edge of Night
    • Deathblade, Infinity Edge, Second Guinsoo’s Rageblade or Kraken’s Fury
  • Udyr: Gargoyle Stoneplate, Titan’s Resolve, Sterak’s Gage

  • High Econ Portal is preferred
  • The Double Down power up is required on Ahri

Item Holder: Neeko, Syndra, Malphite, Kennen

Power Ups: Neeko (Crimson Veil > Max Vitality) Ahri (Double Down Required)

How to Play:

  • Neeko is not a tank with this set up, instead she is a scaling carry meaning we must build tank items on K’Sante to stall for her ability to scale.
  • Edge of Night is immensely valuable on Neeko as it allows her to drop aggro and cast at a minimum 1 more time, usually two or more. Titan’s Resolve provides us with damage amp and immunity from CC making it her second best item. The last slot can be any source of AP or damage.
  • Double Down gives Neeko 20% of the mana Ahri spends making this by far the best power up we can get on Ahri as it enables Neeko to ramp up even faster. This is why we prioritize at least one mana item on Ahri ideally two with Nashor’s + Jeweled Gauntlet providing a great source of mana.
  • This comp is very likely to win the lobby if you hit your 3 stars, so it is great to take econ augments to guarantee you hit your board.

Items:

  • Neeko: Edge of Night, Titan’s Resolve, Jeweled Gauntlet

Prioritize Vi items immediately as every time she gets a kill you have a chance to drop loot, the sooner you get a 3 item Vi 2 going, the higher you will cap. Roll down aggressive on 3-2 to hit Vi 2 and tempo around Vi, Jhin, Gnar and Dr. Mundo. There is an alternative way to play this comp around 7 Crystal Gambit but it is a lot harder to pull off as it requires a Spatula. How to Play:

Dr. Mundo becomes a ranged carry so itemizing him with Rageblade and having him scale up into the fight is important. Dr. Mundo’s autos will cost HP now but, with Juggernaut’s healing we don’t have to worry about building a healing item so don’t get baited and simply go Rageblade plus 2 damage items.

Items:

On Stage 3-1, at level 4, you can roll to 32g (most common), slow roll, or roll until you hit 3*.

Be flexible in when you roll, be willing to break econ intervals if you are close or need tempo. Ideally finish 1 3 star by 3-5.

All in on 4-1 if you haven’t hit already.

Conditions:

Item Holder: Kennen, Janna, Rakan
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Supreme Cell Janna
Power Ups: Kennen (Final Form>Doublestrike>Ramping Rage), Rakan (Unstoppable>Tank-zilla)

How to Play:
I do not recommend clicking this without at least 1 copy of Kennen, ideally 2. Tempoing around Kennen 2 is the key to success with this comp so having at least 1 makeable item is key. After Krugs you should have at least 2 items on Kennen and should be consistently killing 3 or more units on Kennen 2 as you slowroll for Kennen 3. If you happen to have leftover AP items itemize Akali 2. The combination of Kennen’s piercing shuriken and Akali’s dash to cornered units can be very hard to position for. If you happen to have leftover AD items, All out K’Sante can be an option. Econ augments tend to be better in this comp than other hero augments as getting to Akali and K’Sante can be quite expensive.

Items:

Be flexible in when you roll, be willing to break econ intervals if you are close or need tempo. Ideally finish 1 3 star by 3-5.

Conditions:

  • Early Copies of Malphite and Sivir
  • High Econ Portal is preferred

Item Holder: Malphite
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder:
Power Ups: Malphite (Final Form>100 Push Ups>Mage), Sivir (Sky Piercer>Precision)

How to Play:
Play this augment the same as you would The Crew except prioritize Malphite BIS and then tank items on Shen. Sivir items will likely be lower quality but Malphite will carry you until late game. The Crew’s main weakness is it’s reliance on front to back combat but with Tectonic Titan, Malphite bypasses frontline after enough cast. This is why Guinsoo’s Rageblade is so important as it allows him to cast enough times to scale his range and kill enemy carries quickly.

Items:

  • Malphite: Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Titan’s Resolve, Bloodthirster
    • Zhonya’s Paradox, Seeker’s Armguard

Be flexible in when you roll, be willing to break econ intervals if you are close or need tempo. Ideally finish 1 3 star by 3-5.

All in on 4-1 if you haven’t hit already.

Conditions:

  • Schoolyard Justice Garen Hero Augment
  • Early copies of Garen
  • 3 Battle Academia Opener

Item Holder: Garen, Ezreal, Rell
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Battle Academia Seraphine, Battle Academia K’Sante
Power Ups: Garen (Final Form>Trickster>Over 9000) Yuumi (Bullet Hell>Super Genius)

How to Play:
Play as many Battle Academia unit as you can as Garen gets more permanent HP per cast if you hit Battle Academia break points. This makes 3 Battle Academia opener essential to find success with this augment. Guinsoo’s Rageblade is extremely important to get Garen to cast repeatedly and scale into late game. If you slam any mana item early game such as Spear of Shojin or Adaptive Helm you can put it on Garen early game to try to squeeze out a few extra cast, it will end up on Yuumi later as she’s your secondary carry. Keeping up tempo to cap around 7 Battle Academia and Yuumi 2 is your win condition. Rakan 3 and Katarina 3 can be alternative win conditions but could be too expensive as 7 Battle Academia is your biggest spike and priority for this augment.

Items:

  • Garen: Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Bloodthirster, Titan’s Resolve

TFT Comps Set 15 Tier List - Patch 15.9 Meta Snapshot

Leveling Pattern:

1 Cost Reroll

Do not press the level button at all until you 3 star your 1 cost.

On Stage 3-1, at level 4, you can roll to 32g (most common), slow roll, or roll until you hit 3*.

Be flexible in when you roll, be willing to break econ intervals if you are close or need tempo. Ideally finish 1 3 star by 3-5.

All in on 4-1 if you haven’t hit already.

Conditions:

  • Perfect Form Zac
  • Early copies of Zac
  • High Econ Portal is preferred

Item Holder: Zac, Kayle
Best Emblem/Spatula Holder: Wraith Poppy
Power Ups: Kayle (Final Form > Double Strike > Final Ascent), Zac (Not Done Yet > 100 Push Ups > Final Form)

How to Play:
Would not click this if not at least 1 copy of zac, preferrebly 2 so we can tempo around Zac 2 and 1 slammable item. Reroll on 3-1 to 30 gold to find copies of Zac then econ up and slowroll on 5 to find Zac 3 and ideally Kayle 3. 6 Wraith is an insane spike so playing this in a high econ portal is highly recommended. Level 9 for Kayle is another huge spike. Preserveing money to hit level 9 is key to success with this comp. Zac isn’t really a frontliner with this augment more of a burst carry so itemize a Mundo or Aatrox 2 in the mid game with tank items to help stall time for Kayle.

Items:

  • Zac: Jeweled Gauntlet, Bloodthirster or Hand of Justice, Striker’s Flail
    • Archangel’s Staff, Zhonya’s Paradox, Seeker’s Armguard
  • Kayle: Guinsoo’s Rageblade

Augments:
Hero > Artifact > Econ > Items = Combat
Zac Hero Augment, 3-2 Portable Forge, Invested+

FAQ

  • How are compositions ranked?
    • There are many factors, but the two strongest ones are how often they can be played and how strong they are when you get it. Think of it like frequency of being played combined with how well it can potentially do.
    • I also rank them based on how often the best players in the world play each comp (top 10 players in major regions)
  • Why isn’t XYZ Comp here?
    • Probably not played enough, not strong enough, or maybe it hasn’t been discovered yet and will hopefully be added next week.
    • It’s also impossible to fit every single variation of every composition on a tier list, so expect variations of these comps to do well too.
    • I also add in different versions of different comps in the notes, so be sure to read through them! (For example, one synergy might have two different playstyles such as reroll or standard)
  • [Legendary Unit] carry is the best in the game, where is it?
    • It is not reliable to have a 5 cost carry as a composition because you will not be able to get a 2* Legendary consistently. There may be metas where there are ‘Fast 9’ comps, but these often use any legendary they can get instead of a specific one.
  • What does Difficulty, Item Dependency, and Variance mean?
    • Difficulty is how hard the composition is to play.  Difficulty does not factor into the strength or viability of the composition but serves as a factor for new players.
    • Item dependency is how important specific items are to the composition.
    • Variance is the approximate placement range of the composition.  For example, a consistent Top 4 composition has Low variance.  A composition that either places 1st or 8th has a High variance.
  • Does what composition I play matter?
    • No. Playing TFT well matters a lot more
  • I can’t get these exact items every game
    • You don’t need perfect items or exact items unless specified in the Requirements section. Most of the time you just need ‘playable’ items and not ‘best in slot’ (BIS)
  • You are wrong, XYZ comp should be in S tier and ABC player said this S tier comp sucks
    • Everyone has different opinions. I try to take a data based approach by analyzing games from the best players in each region to combine all their opinions.
    • At the end of the day, comp doesn’t matter much compared to just playing TFT well (rolling, managing econ, positioning, etc). If you check out the best players, you will see that each player favors different compositions yet they are all very highly ranked.
  • When is this site updated?
    • Every Friday
  • Where can I learn more?
    • There are many resources and players to learn from. I suggest starting at my YouTube channel and this website.

Knowing how to get better at TFT is much more important than knowing what compositions to play. Knowing how to play Teamfight Tactics will help you no matter what patch it is.

Tier placement assumes strong play.  Refer to Difficulty metric before attempting to play.
