Meta Snapshot Summary

Hey all, not too much has changed from last week.  Few minor updates.  6 Blademaster and Astro Sniper are not as strong as I thought.  I’ve been seeing more Gangplank in this recent week, and suspect he will be played a bit during the qualifier.  Also we have Space Pirates added.

Everything is still playable, and the tiers are very close together.  For example, S tier might really be A+ and B tier might be A-.

S: Mech
A: Cybernetics, Protectors, E-Girls, Sniper, Rebels, Shredder, Blaster Brawler, Battlecast
B: 6 Blademasters, Space Pirate, Vanguard Mystic, Dark Star
C: BBQ Rumble, Sorcerer Riven

TFT Compositions Tier List

S Tier: Highly Flexible or Very Strong

Mech Pilot

10.15 Teamfight Tactics Tier List Meta Comps
The comp is Mech + Viktor + other units. Right now, I like Infiltrator, Demolitionist, and Mystic, but it depends on what you hit and what you are facing. Dodge Mech with QSS, Trap Claw, and Shroud is also really really strong. It’s probably the strongest build late game since Bramblevest isn’t as strong late game.

Difficulty: Medium
Item Dependency: High
Variance: Medium

Requirements:

  • Hitting the Mech early
  • Mech Items.  You can go either Bramble QSS or Dodge Mech.
  • Viktor items.  Mana + Morello.

Bonus: Leftover items for other carries such as extra infiltrator or Karma for support.

How to Play

Get Vanguard, Protector, or Brawler start in stage 2.  Eco up so that you can slow roll at level 7 to hit your Mech.  When Annie and Rumble are 2*, you can try to go 8 to find Viktor and Fizz 2*.  Go 9 and add random legendaries for late game win condition.  Add Demolitionist when you can.  Gangplank with Guardian Angel is super good.

Counters:

  • Giant Slayer
  • Zephyr if no QSS on Mech
  • Assassins to kill Viktor

A Tier: Solid Team Comps. Weaker, less flexible, requires more luck than S-Tier

Cybernetics

10.15 Teamfight Tactics Tier List Meta Comps
Use Vayne as the primary carry followed by Irelia. Lucian got buffed in 10.15, but I haven’t seen any huge success with Lucian carry. Ideally you have multiple shrouds on the random Cybers, but I list a diverse set of items just so you know some good options for Leo/Vi/Fiora/Wukong.

Difficulty: Medium
Item Dependency: Medium
Variance: Medium

Requirements:

  • IE LW for Vayne Items
  • Random items for front line

How to Play

Fast 8, roll at 4-3 with preferably 35+ gold.  Early game make Cyber item and abuse their early game strength.  Can also use red buff early game.  Go 9, add in Thresh.

Counters

  • 6 Vanguards
  • Bramble Vest
  • Mech
  • Brawlers

Cybernetics benefit from having at least 1 item, so it’s great to diversify your team with this build.  Lucian is a great early game carry and then you can transition into Irelia and Vayne.  Add Thresh at Lvl 9 and have units to pull in on your bench such as Lulu, Thresh, Wukong, Blitz

Great build because you can make use of bad/weird items, which makes them consistent.

Fiora, Vi, Leona can use a basic item component, but some good completed items are Zeke’s Herald, Zzrot Portal, Redemption, Shroud of Stillness, and Zephyr.  You can also put Force of Nature on one of them.

Protectors

10.15 Teamfight Tactics Tier List Meta Comps
Play 2,4, or 6 Protectors. Get blue buff on Syndra, Warmogs on J4, and you should be good for mid game. There are so many different variations of protectors. Normally its 4 Protectors + Sorcs, Snipers, Infils, or random legendary units. Any of these options work. Super late game is the Legendary composition with Janna/Xerath carry.

Difficulty: High
Item Dependency: High
Variance: High

Requirements:

  • Early Warmogs for snowballing with Jarvan
  • Protector Spatula for Syndra or Aurelion Late Game
  • Urgot Items/hitting Urgot/other Legendaries

Bonus: Tank items

How to Play

Stabilize early game with Warmogs and Bard.  Hit 4 protector with a Janna/Xerath/Asol item holder (Ashe is good for Shojin/Hurricane).  Go Fast 9 and roll for legendaries.  Approximately level 9 at 5-2 with 40+ gold to roll.

Another option is going for Fizz and Ekko as your carries.  It depends on your items and what you hit during your level 9 roll down.

Incredibly strong with Warmogs because of recent changes.  Protector trait abuses the huge health gains from their shield.  Champions are very variable.  Swap to 2 or 4 Protector depending on what you hit and what synergies you can fit in.

E-Girls – Star Guardian Sorcerers

10.15 Teamfight Tactics Tier List Meta Comps
Tank items on Neeko, Mana and AP on Syndra. Mana items on Janna late game. Star Guardian Spatula is optional

Difficulty: High
Item Dependency: High
Variance: Medium

Requirements:

  • Neeko Items
  • Syndra Item
  • Getting Janna + Items for her

How to Play

Get strong early game with 2 Protector start.  Transition into 6 Star Guardian around level 8 when you hit Janna.  Try to go 9 for Janna 2.  Use Syndra or any Janna item holder for mid-game carry.

Counters:

  • Guardian Angel on your carry (against Syndra)
  • Shroud against Janna
  • Zephyr if no QSS on Neeko or Syndra

Sniper

10.16 Teamfight Tactics Tier List Meta Comps
This is the version that is most being recommended to me. Check the How to Play section. There’s also a 4 Vanguard 2 Sniper version which is decent. It depends on your lobby.

Difficulty: High
Item Dependency: Medium
Variance: Medium

Requirements:

  • Jhin Items
  • Teemo Items
  • Tank Items

How to Play

Go Fast 8 at 4-3 and roll 40+ gold.  You will need to stabilize with 2 Mystic using Bard and another Mystic, usually Karma before you put in Gnar.  DO NOT USE GNAR AT LEVEL 8 UNLESS YOU MAGICALLY HAVE HIM AT 2*.  Gnar 1* is useless at level 8.  At 9, add in 2* Gnar while keeping 2 Mystic (replace Bard with someone else).  At level 8 you need to stabilize with either Teemo or Jhin 2 while hitting the rest of your team with at least 1*.  Try to get a lot of tears for Teemo, he uses 3 really well.

Counters:

  • Infiltrators to kill Jhin/Teemo
  • Zephyr + Blitz combo
  • Cybernetics

Rebels

10.16 Teamfight Tactics Tier List Meta Comps
GP is OP. Get a GA for him. Jinx items you just need 1 or 2 if you have a GP. Put ability power on Asol

Difficulty: Medium
Item Dependency: High
Variance: High

Requirements

  • Jinx Items (Last Whisper/Infinity Edge/Deathblade/Red Buff/Giant Slayer/Rapidfire/Runaan’s are all good)

Nice to have: GA for GP

Rebels utilize their shield and damage buff to strengthen each other.  Lucian or Zed are great item holders.  Can use Ekko instead of Fizz.  If no GA, go both Ekko and Fizz or extra Aurelion Sols.

This composition is great on late game galaxies because they rely on late game builds.

How to Play

Go fast 8 at 4-3.  Roll all your gold (40+).  Pray for GP.  Put a GA on him.

Counters

  • Shroud of Stillness
  • Area of Effect
  • Mana Reaver on GP
  • Zephyr because of positioning constraints

Shredder (Reroll Xayah)

10.16 Teamfight Tactics Tier List Meta Comps
6 BM Shredder with Xayah Carry 3* and hopefully J4 3*. The positioning shown here is anti-Infiltrator. Adjust the positioning as necessary

Difficulty: Low
Item Dependency: High
Variance: Medium

Requirements:

  • Hitting Xayah 3* with relative ease

How to Play

Get a gold or reroll favored Galaxy.  Open fort or semi open fort early for item pick on Stage 2 carousel.  You NEED Xayah IE/LW.  Slam all other items to preserve health.  Slow roll at level 5.  You should have at least 50+ gold and level 4 with 8/10xp at Stage 3-1 with preferably 2* Xayah.

Counters:

  • 6 Vanguard
  • Finding a way to kill Xayah since shes near frontline (Jayce, Ahri, Nautilus, etc.)

Blaster Brawler

patch 10.15 Blaster Brawler TFT Tier List
Use Zed + Fizz/Ekko as an alternative to Ziggs/GP or add Mystic

Difficulty: Medium
Item Dependency: Medium
Variance: Medium

Requirements:

  • 3 Items for Jinx.  “Best items” depends on the lobby. (Last Whisper/Infinity Edge/Deathblade/Red Buff/Giant Slayer/Rapidfire/Runaan’s are all good)

Bonus: Red Buff, GA for Gnar

How to Play

Do early levels in stage 2.  Level 4 at 2-1.  Level 5 at 2-5 (can pre level before hand).  At 4-1, be level 7.  If you are low health, roll for your comp to stabilize.  If you are high health, just go fast 8 at 4-3 with 30+ gold, then go 9 or stabilize more by rolling at 5-1.

Counters:

  • % Health damage
  • Infiltrators to kill Jinx
  • Vanguard/Protectors/Mech so Jinx can’t get Resets

Keep Blitzcrank next to Jinx to let her get a quick kill.  Rebel spatula is useful to get to 3 Rebel.  A defensive item is nice for Jinx.  Trap Claw>GA>QSS

NOTE THAT THERE ARE MANY VARIANTS

Battlecast

10.16 Teamfight Tactics Tier List Meta Comps
Slow roll and then go 9

Difficulty: High
Item Dependency: High
Variance: Medium

Requirements:

  • Battlecast items such as Red Buff and Statikk Shiv by 3-1
  • Battlecast Spatula is very nice

How to Play

Don’t level up early game.  Slow roll at level 5 for Graves and Illaoi.  Kogmaw and Nocturne at 3* is optional.  Go fast 9 after you hit Graves and Illaoi to fit in Urgot for 6 Battlecast.

B Tier: Playable, but not Preferred. These comps could be strong if uncontested.

6 Blademasters (Bang Bros, Blade Bros, etc.)

10.15 Teamfight Tactics Tier List Meta Comps
Yi got tank buffs for 10.15. This comp is pretty solid if you can hit the units and have perfect items.

Difficulty: Easy
Item Dependency: High
Variance: High

Requirements:

  • 3  Star carries (Yi, Zed, maybe Yasuo)
  • Blademaster Spatula for Zed

How to Play

Slow roll at level 7.  You should be level 7 50 gold at 4-1 if not earlier or with more gold at 4-1.  Roll to stabilize (Yi 2 generally). All in some time in stage 5 if you are low or close to 3* Yi.  OR stay at 2* and go 9 and add legendaries.

Counters:

  • Ekko vs Yi can cheese kills if Yi has QSS
  • Zephyring Shen or anti-Shen comps
  • Zoe to stun Master Yi
  • Positioning away from Zed

Space Pirate

TFT Meta Snapshot Patch 10.16 - WORLDS QUALIFIER PREDICTIONS
GA GP is so strong. If you happen to get an early GP with a

Difficulty: Medium
Item Dependency: High
Variance: High

Requirements

  • Getting all the pirates early to farm items.
  • GA for GP

Very strong late game because you get so many items

How to Play

Go fast 8 at 4-3.  Roll all your gold (40+).  Pray for GP.  Put a GA on him.

You can stabilize with Mech early on

Counters

  • Zephyr on GP

Vanguard Mystic

TFT Meta Snapshot Patch 10.16 - WORLDS QUALIFIER PREDICTIONS
With the Last Whisper nerf, this comp is super strong and autowins against any attack damage composition because you will have at least 250 armor against Last Whisper. Prioritize Blue Buff Morello on Cassio and then AP and tank items on Jayce and leftover on Wukong. Can use 4 Mystic if there are a ton of magic damage dealers and not too many physical.

Difficulty: Hard
Item Dependency: Medium
Variance: Low

Requirements:

  • Cassiopeia items
  • Defensive Item front line

Bonus: Playing Bard Early

How to Play

Level 6 at 3-2 and roll down to 10 gold to hit Cassio and Jayce 2.  If possible play Bard to fast 9 and transition into a legendary + vanguard comp or play Vanguard Mystic with Thresh to pull in Urgots.

Scout every turn to see if you need 4 Mystic 4 Vanguard or 6 Vanguard 2 Mystic.

Counters

  • Magic damage
  • Mech

This is mainly a Top 4 comp since you beat half the comps and lose to half.  Every fight is really one sided.

Dark Star

10.15 Teamfight Tactics Tier List Meta Comps
Dark Star is still strong in 10.15. Go ahead and play Karma if you need Mystics. You can use Shaco or Ashe carry in the mid game. Late game, you will want Jhin, Xerath, Janna. Replace Rakan eventually with Lulu for Celestial. If you can’t get Jarvan, use Mordekaiser/Wukong as tanks. Try to avoid 6 Darkstar unless you have Darkstar Spatula

Difficulty: High
Item Dependency: High
Variance: Medium

Requirements:

  • Hitting correct item for the correct carry
  • Warmog Jarvan Early

How to Play

Only play if you get a good Protector start with an early Shaco or Jhin.  You need GA BT on Shaco to win the mid game.  Early game you can either early level or not level at all–depends on your streak and if you have Jarvan 2.  I generally prefer to early level because it allows me to hit Shaco and give me some direction.

Level to 6 at 3-2 and you can roll if you have a lot of pairs or if you are low.  Go to 7 at 3-5 or 4-1.  You need to always have at least 30 gold after leveling, so the timing depends on your econ.  Stage 4-1 roll for Shaco 2 or Jhin 1 for 4 Dark star.  If you stabilize, find a time to go 8 at 5-1.

Counters:

  • Anti Shaco positioning
  • Assassins to kill Jhin/Ashe/Xerath
  • Anti Heal

C Tier and Below: These are compositions that are weak, but if they are given to you, you might be forced to play them.

BBQ Rumble

TFT Meta Snapshot Patch 10.16 - WORLDS QUALIFIER PREDICTIONS
Double Jeweled Gauntlet Titans or Double Titans Jeweled Gauntlet. Can also go IE JG or use Hats

Difficulty: Medium
Item Dependency: Medium
Variance: High

Requirements:

  • Rumble and his items early

Bonus: hitting Mech for mid game

How to Play

Go for Glove first.  Build Jeweled Gauntlet and Titans.  Get Rebel/Brawler start since you want Ziggs.  Naturally hit rumble.  If you do not have a 2* Rumble during Stage 4, go for Mech.  At level 3 Rumble, sell mech and keep rumble.

Sorc + Riven/GP

10.13 Teamfight Tactics Tier List Meta Comps bratty sis
Don’t play this. Jarvan in Protectors does the same thing as Riven for 3 gold instead of 12.

Difficulty: Medium
Item Dependency: High
Variance: Medium

Requirements:

  • GA for Riven.  1 AP item for Riven (Ionic or Hat).  QSS is great, add more AP if you can’t get it.
  • Viktor wants 2 tears + 1 rod.  Use leftover items with these 3 components.
  • Super late game win condition is Janna/Xerath.

TFT Meta Snapshot Patch 10.16 - WORLDS QUALIFIER PREDICTIONS
So many good items. Just avoid Rod or Negatron. Glove is most flexible. Belt great for early game. Bow good for many comps. Armor essential for some comps. Sword just good overall (its like glove flexibility but slightly worse).

Item Quadrant

The closer to the Top Right, the better and more versatile the item is. Avoid items on Bottom Left if possible.

Strength (y-axis) is based on how effective an item is in the situations where it is most used.  Items that are strong at all stages of the game are listed higher.

Versatility (x-axis) is based on both the number of Compositions an item fits in and Champions an item is used on.  Versatility is also how often you could build an item.

TFT Meta Snapshot Patch 10.16 - WORLDS QUALIFIER PREDICTIONS

Methodology

Even though I was Challenger in Set 1 and Grandmaster in Set 2, I know there are many players better than me.  This is why I scout the Top 10 players in all major regions and analyze what they play and how they play each composition to make this Tier List.  Tiers are determined by what I think will get you the highest average rank.  This means that while one composition might be super strong late game, it may be difficult to acquire, so it may not be S-Tier.  For example, it is difficult to win with certain compositions, but extremely easy to Top 4.  Rankings within a tier are very close together.  Always try to play with what makes sense for every game, and adapt to your lobbies with proper tech choices.

Difficulty, Item Dependency, and Variance are listed.  Difficulty is how hard the composition is to play.  Difficulty does not factor into the strength or viability of the composition but serves as a factor for new players.  Item dependency is how important specific items are to the composition.  Variance is the approximate placement range of the composition.  For example, a consistent Top 4 composition has Low variance.  A composition that either places 1st or 8th has a High variance. If I mention that a composition is Forcible, it means that you can play this comp every game.

Tier placement assumes strong play.  Refer to Difficulty metric before attempting to play.
