Meta Snapshot Summary
This week has been super strange. Everyday there is a different composition that dominates the meta. At first Astro Sniper was dominating everything, then Mech, then Battlecast and Bang Bros, and now Star Guardians players are winning everything. Protectors had their days of dominance as well.
The meta is defined by counters for whatever was popular the day before because of all the viable options. You will need to adapt and adjust as needed. For example, Snipers are fantastic when you are able to get a Blue Buff, but when there are a lot of Mana hungry compositions being played in your lobby, it is difficult to complete.
All the tiers below are closer together than usual, so keep that in mind (IE, there isn’t that big of a difference between S and A tiers, A and B tier, etc.)
Shroud of Stillness is still broken. Last week, some viewers were asking why Shroud is so strong. This was evident in the 4th game of the Cloud 9 tournament where DeliciousMilk and Saintvicious finished 1st and 2nd and both had Shrouds that decided each fight.
S: E-Girls, Protectors, Mech,
A: Sniper, Shredder, Cybernetics, Battlecast, Blaster Brawler
B: 6 Blademasters, Dark Star, Vanguard Mystic
C: Sorcerer Riven, Rebels
TFT Compositions Tier List
S Tier: Highly Flexible or Very Strong
E-Girls – Star Guardian Sorcerers

Difficulty: Medium
Item Dependency: High
Variance: Medium
Requirements:
- Neeko Items
- Syndra Item
- Getting Janna + Items for her
Counters:
- Guardian Angel on your carry (against Syndra)
- Shroud against Janna
- Zephyr if no QSS on Neeko or Syndra
Protectors

Difficulty: Low
Item Dependency: High
Variance: High
Requirements:
- Early Warmogs for snowballing with Jarvan
- Protector Spatula for Syndra or Aurelion Late Game
- Urgot Items/hitting Urgot/other Legendaries
Bonus: Tank items
Incredibly strong with Warmogs because of recent changes. Protector trait abuses the huge health gains from their shield.
Mech Pilot

Difficulty: Medium
Item Dependency: High
Variance: Medium
Requirements:
- Hitting the Mech early
- Viktor items. Mana + Morello.
Bonus: Leftover items for other carries such as extra infiltrator or Karma for support.

A Tier: Solid Team Comps. Weaker, less flexible, requires more luck than S-Tier
Sniper

Difficulty: Medium
Item Dependency: Medium
Variance: Medium
Requirements:
- Jhin Items
- Teemo Items
- Tank Items
Counters:
- Infiltrators to kill Jhin/Teemo
- Zephyr + Blitz combo
Shredder

Difficulty: Medium
Item Dependency: High
Variance: Medium
Requirements:
- Hitting Xayah 3* with relative ease
Counters:
- 6 Vanguard
- Finding a way to kill Xayah since shes near frontline (Jayce, Ahri, etc.)
Cybernetics

Difficulty: Medium
Item Dependency: Medium
Variance: Medium
Requirements:
- Irelia or Vayne Items
- Random items for front line
Bonus: IE/LW Vayne is almost auto top 4.
Cybernetics benefit from having at least 1 item, so it’s great to diversify your team with this build. Lucian is a great early game carry and then you can transition into Irelia and Vayne. Add Thresh at Lvl 9 and have units to pull in on your bench such as Lulu, Thresh, Wukong, Blitz
Great build because you can make use of bad/weird items, which makes them consistent.
Fiora, Vi, Leona can use a basic item component, but some good completed items are Zeke’s Herald, Zzrot Portal, Redemption, Shroud of Stillness, and Zephyr. You can also put Force of Nature on one of them.
Counters:
- Vanguards if no LW
- Bramble Vest
- Mech
- Brawlers
Battlecast

Difficulty: Medium
Item Dependency: High
Variance: Medium
Requirements:
- Battlecast items such as Red Buff and Statikk Shiv
- Battlecast Spatula is very nice for Ezreal or Xerath
There are 3* variants and fast 8 variants.
Blaster Brawler

Difficulty: High
Item Dependency: Medium
Variance: Medium
Requirements:
- 3 Items for Jinx. “Best items” depends on the lobby. (Last Whisper/Infinity Edge/Deathblade/Red Buff/Giant Slayer/Rapidfire/Runaan’s are all good)
Bonus: Red Buff, GA for Gnar
Keep Blitzcrank next to Jinx to let her get a quick kill. Rebel spatula is useful to get to 3 Rebel. A defensive item is nice for Jinx. Trap Claw>GA>QSS
NOTE THAT THERE ARE MANY VARIANTS
Counters:
- % Health damage
- Infiltrators to kill Jinx
- Vanguard/Protectors/Mech so Jinx can’t get Resets

B Tier: Playable, but not Preferred. These comps could be strong if uncontested.
6 Blademasters (Bang Bros, Blade Bros, etc.)

Difficulty: Easy
Item Dependency: High
Variance: High
Slow roll at level 7. All in some time in stage 5 if you are low or close to 3* Yi
Requirements:
- 3 Star carries (Yi, Zed, maybe Yasuo)
- Blademaster Spatula for Zed
Counters:
- Ekko vs Yi can cheese kills if Yi has QSS
- Zephyring Shen
- Positioning away from Zed
Dark Star

Difficulty: Medium
Item Dependency: High
Variance: Medium
Requirements:
- Hitting correct item for the correct carry
- Warmog Jarvan Early
Counters:
- Anti Shaco positioning
- Assassins to kill Jhin/Ashe/Xerath
- Anti Heal
Vanguard Mystic

Difficulty: Hard
Item Dependency: Medium
Variance: Low
Requirements:
- Cassiopeia items
- Defensive Item front line
Bonus: Playing Bard Early
This is mainly a Top 4 comp since you beat half the comps and lose to half. Every fight is really one sided.
C Tier and Below: These are compositions that are weak, but if they are given to you, you might be forced to play them.
Sorc + Riven/GP

Difficulty: Medium
Item Dependency: High
Variance: Medium
Requirements:
- GA for Riven. 1 AP item for Riven (Ionic or Hat). QSS is great, add more AP if you can’t get it.
- Viktor wants 2 tears + 1 rod. Use leftover items with these 3 components.
- Super late game win condition is Janna/Xerath.
Rebels

Difficulty: Medium
Item Dependency: High
Variance: High
Requirements
- Jinx Items (Last Whisper/Infinity Edge/Deathblade/Red Buff/Giant Slayer/Rapidfire/Runaan’s are all good)
Nice to have: GA for GP
Rebels utilize their shield and damage buff to strengthen each other. Lucian or Zed are great item holders. Can use Ekko instead of Fizz. If no GA, go both Ekko and Fizz or extra Aurelion Sols.
This composition is great on late game galaxies because they rely on late game builds.
Counters
- Shroud of Stillness
- Area of Effect
- Mana Reaver on GP
- Zephyr because of positioning constraints

Item Quadrant
The closer to the Top Right, the better and more versatile the item is. Avoid items on Bottom Left if possible.
Strength (y-axis) is based on how effective an item is in the situations where it is most used. Items that are strong at all stages of the game are listed higher.
Versatility (x-axis) is based on both the number of Compositions an item fits in and Champions an item is used on. Versatility is also how often you could build an item.

Methodology
Even though I was Challenger in Set 1 and Grandmaster in Set 2, I know there are many players better than me. This is why I scout the Top 10 players in all major regions and analyze what they play and how they play each composition to make this Tier List. Tiers are determined by what I think will get you the highest average rank. This means that while one composition might be super strong late game, it may be difficult to acquire, so it may not be S-Tier. For example, it is difficult to win with certain compositions, but extremely easy to Top 4. Rankings within a tier are very close together. Always try to play with what makes sense for every game, and adapt to your lobbies with proper tech choices.
Difficulty, Item Dependency, and Variance are listed. Difficulty is how hard the composition is to play. Difficulty does not factor into the strength or viability of the composition but serves as a factor for new players. Item dependency is how important specific items are to the composition. Variance is the approximate placement range of the composition. For example, a consistent Top 4 composition has Low variance. A composition that either places 1st or 8th has a High variance. If I mention that a composition is Forcible, it means that you can play this comp every game.
Tier placement assumes strong play. Refer to Difficulty metric before attempting to play.
